SIEL CRUISE Analog Synthesizer 1979 | HD DEMO

Ғылым және технология

(c) 2015 by AnalogAudio1
I played the Siel Cruise along with a Korg SDD-3000 vintage digital delay.
Is this the brother of Tom Cruise? Not really - although both are smart. The Siel Cruise comes from Italy and is a string machine with a built in monophonic (preset) . It's basically a Siel Orchestra and Siel Mono in one box. But it can't do everything a Siel Orchestra and a Siel Mono can do - some functions were sacrificed (the vibrato of the Orchestra and the highpass filter mode of the Mono). It sounds great, though.
The monophonic synth has presets, which can be tweaked in "free mode". The monophonic synth sounds really good - although with just a single VCO, it has a powerful sound, resonant VCF with ADSR controls for VCF and VCA. There are the same polyphonic presets as on the ARP Quartet (different to Siel Orchestra!). Every section (mono and poly synth) has its own output, so you can treat the sound individually (what I made in the first half of the video). After all, a great Italo synth!

Many people are just consumers and want the latest thing based on what they read on paper, but the proof is in the pudding (sound). Again though, the artist has to be capable of making worth of his tools because many people cannot play well or beautifully enough to justify them owning instruments that should rightly be in the hands of the ones who can.

Typical. At the time it seemed to be a nasty and much too late entry in the Itlaian paraphonic race. Now it suddenly turns ou to be a real Gem, better for instance then anything Farfisa did in this class after the original Syntorchestra, or Crumar after the Orchestrator. It must however also be said that all these instrument only started to sound really good with the introduction of digital effects processors. A good analog sound with a decent digital delay and / or reverb is somehow a golden combination.

  • @AnalogAudio1

The Siel Cruise is some kind of combination of Siel Mono and Siel Orchestra in one keyboard. But not quite. The Mono section of the Cruise does not have the multimode filter of the Mono - it has lowpass mode only. Also the noise generator is gone. But the Poly-section in the Cruise is almost the same as in the Siel Orchestra, except for the organ preset and the missing vibrato.

How in the world do you get all these? Surely you don't own all of them?

Oh yes, I own or owned all the instruments demoed on my channel. :-) The only instruments I did not own were SCI Pro One, SCI Prophet-5 REV3 and Korg MS-20mini. I can only say, I don't get them from Ebay, from Reverb or from any dealers.

The Cruise is from 1981, not 1979. The audio here is pretty drowned in effects. It sounds pretty terrible straight out of the synth.

Dry it still sounds good, the delay effect is applied only to the right channel. Left is dry.
