You know how things sometimes grow on you over time? That is how I feel about these SIDI Crossfire 3 SRS boots. I bough them from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC earlier this year. At first they weren’t very comfortable and were very stiff. Now, I do like a stiff boot, so that part was okay. If you don’t want a stiff boot, look elsewhere. I also didn’t like how it felt like there were a lot of “steps” to get them bucked up properly. I found it to be annoying at first. Then over time, I noticed that I didn’t get nearly as much dirt, leaves, and sagebrush debris down into my boots. These SIDIs were really sealing things out.
I also noticed that while they weren’t the most comfortable boot to wear around the house, once the leather was broken in and I wore them for a while, things got much better. When I first went out riding with them on, I forgot they were there. That isn’t something I can truly say with the Fox Instinct Offroad boots that I’ve been wearing a lot too. With the fox boots, sometimes I felt like my foot would get stuck on the pegs do the the amount of tread those boots have. With the Sidi’s, I haven’t had that sensation that my boot is stuck on the footpegs.
No, these boots aren’t perfect, and I doubt the people with wide feel will really love them. On the other hand, for me… I think these are my favorite boots up this to date. I paid $595 from Rocky Mountain ATV for these boots. Please be a good man/woman and use my parts links if you are ordering from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC.

Great review you are very right on and honest! I’m excited about my new crossfires as well. And yes boots are sometimes more vital than helmets. Leg injuries can be more common especially with enduro mountain riding.

Nice review Kyle! I have been using Sidi boots since moving away from Alpinestar Tech 8s. I have had both Crossfire SRS 2 & 3 and agree that they are a very high quality boot (and still my preferred boot to date). I would however like to add a couple things that I feel worth mentioning that I did not hear you cover in your review. First is the fact that these boots allow a lot of water in. Do not expect to keep your feet dry if crossing rivers or riding in the rain. Maybe due to the design/use of plastic and leather...cant really say why but I noticed this straight away after moving over from the Tech 8 (and I wear over the boot pants). The other item I feel worth mentioning is the SRS scrrews. This is the primary reason that I had switched over to the Sidi SRS style boot. I tend to go through the left sole much faster than the boot itself so being able to replace the sole myself is invaluable to me (If only I could buy just the left sole instead of both). I know you mentioned them in the video but I think it important to add that I have had the screws get so mangled that it can be VERY difficult to remove some of them. I recommend having several, or even a set, of spare screws on hand. The last thing that I will add is my experience with the width. You also mentioned (as have others here in the comments) that these boots tend to run a bit narrow. Since I have a wide foot I have some thoughts on this too. I did not buy the SRS 1 because of this very reason. Fortunately I started looking at these about the time the SRS 2 came out and they had a wider foot bed (relative to the SRS1) and so I gave them a shot. The SRS 3 is even wider so I think that they have made improvements in this area. So if you gave up on the earlier version (SRS 1 or 2- due to narrow foot bed) I would recommend trying the 3s.

Great Boot, had mine for 5 years now. A few pointers. The SRS are not for wide feet. Sidi is more to a normal or narrow foot. Also get the right size. I bought some that were too big... I couldn’t feel the shifter, as Kyle says the toe box is very hard. So I sold and bought one size smaller. They are perfect. About every two rides I hit them with the power washer. No issues still going on strong

Have had the Sidi SRS 2 boots for two years now and agree with everything about your review. I have had much the same experience with mine. My only complaint is they squeak like crazy when I walk in them. Someone else’s wrote to put some oil on the moving parts (I may try that at some time). I ride mostly in the mid Atlantic trail and enduro. I decided to try the enduro replacement soles on the boots and found they have a lot more grip especially when walking to clear trails. Only warning if you change the sole, do not expect to put your foot down in a corner and have it slide as you go around if it touches (it will grab much more than the original soles). Overall I have hit several rocks in the past two years that have completely knocked my foot from the peg and made me pucker thinking for a moment that is going to really hurt and I probably just broke a toe or two ,only to realize, nope it’s just fine. Makes the investment in a nice pair of boots much more easy to justify. Having destroyed pairs of inexpensive entry level boots over the years I must agree as well, you get what you pay for. Definitely spend your money on a good helmet and next up a good pair of boots.

If you have wide feel try the TA version. The soles are sewn on but can be replaced by a cobbler. They are wider and the soles are softer. That can be good if you want to walk in them. I generally like a stiffer sole but have no problem with the TA being too soft. TA is also a bit less expensive. Best boots I've ever ridden in.

I have the same boot but in the TA design. I agree, once on they are extremely protective which is the most important thing. But like you, my biggest complaint is the multiple steps taken to just put them on. Then once they are on you then readjust. And the buckle system, to me, is just a pain. I wish they had a buckle system like my Gaerne SG's, I love those buckles. I shouldn't have to take my tennis shoe that I just took off and use it to beat some of my buckles closed like I do on my SIDIs.

I have had the crossfire 2s for two and a half years now and love them and didn’t think I would ever buy another brand ever again, but just noticed on my last ride that I’ve worn a whole in the top of the left boot where it hits the shifter. Just bought the Husqvana 300i, maybe that had something to do with it, went to the shop buy another pair but tried on a pair of SG12s now I’m confused, just after a bit of feedback as I don’t know much about the SG12s other than they feel comfortable in the shop, if you had to buy another pair of boots would you go sidi or gaernie, also, nice watch I have the same one.

If i order the correct size they kind of indicated i would have to buy them because they are expensive. My question is how do you feel the cross section width at the ball of your foot is compared to your fox boots, with the correct size? Thank you

I really like my Tech 7's but a little concerned on the hyper flex and extension support. It has a hinge, but as they wear in it seems that area is getting "wider" and allowing more movement that just the hinge allows. I like my knee braces and boots to only allow the one movement required for that joint with no twisting or bending the wrong way

  • @KoltFin

i have a pair of these and they do soften up but if you really try to flex these forward they will fold over like any other boot. side to side flex in minimal and the back flex is good too, and because of the design it they fit great with a knee brace. The foot box for me is a little narrow.

You do get what you pay for, but the crazy thing is you can get a boot as good as the crossifre 2's (I've had them) for half the price. They're called Forma predator 2.0's. most comfortable and protective boot I've ever worn, and made in Italy. They're not as waterproof (none really are) as the crossfire 2 but otherwise I like them better in almost every way. I found the crossfire a great boot but overpriced and runs very narrow. Plus w/ the crossfire if something breaks, even on a new boot, they make you buy the parts, vs Gaerne and Forma warranting it.

I am very pleased with them and have gotten 2 months in them. I am just disgusted with the insane cost of some of these brands. It’s not needed, $600 a pair?? Kyle I get that you have been blessed with a good living. But to promote some of this cheaply made gear, is a bit over the top. Some of the other stuff like off market brands are the way most of us actually afford to ride. Few of us regular ‘Joe’s” can afford this name brand stuff. It’s mostly marketing ploys, and fad advertising. Thats my opinions, what do the rest of you folks have to say????
