Hi ! Quick experiment between Solaris and current USD Importer of UE5, sharing some of the few gotchas I found out so far. Maybe more things to adjust or optimize so I could actually run the full USD scene in realtime without broken shaders, but that maybe for an other video.

    Great video Adrien, would love to see a houdini to Clarisse USD video for sure! Not sure what you make of MatX atm, seems like a lot of features are missing?

    Thanks Arvind ;) For now MatX finding it complete enough in Solaris/Karma to work with and run the smoothest in Karma as opposed to VEX shaders. Could be more "out of the box" node to help on procedural shading for sure, but nothing that you can't build from scratch .😅

    Nice! thank you for this, I was secretely hoping for this, in the studio we could not find a way to transfer animations, we tried both stitched and unstiched USDs, have you ever tried to transfer animated deforming geometry in one of your tests?

    Thanks ! Tried exporting animated trees as USD at one point, seemed to work fine. 🤷‍♂ Will need to experiment more to know all the gotchas

    USD made for "scene" export and i test it support simple animation without deforming. for other anim from Houdini from rbds/vellum etc we still have to use fbx/vat/alembic

    guys does houdini count on gpus for simulations does it support that ? lets say i have 2 rtx 3090 connected sli is it ok? someone answer me plz

    CPU ad GPU are used for simulation. (mainly CPU) SLI mode is not needed, but NVLINK will help with Redshift it pools vram to 48gb when using 2 x 3090

    its future.. houdini/other dlc > usd > unreal > nuke , complex scenes it will be trickier. unreal not good atm for refraction tho
