It has been extremely wet here in Central Ohio there are still fields not planted here. It is good to see that you are able to get field work done and all your crops are in. Looking forward to you making hay that is my favorite. I only make a little hay now but I love the smell and I can stand on a wagon all day long. Thank you for always taking us along on the farm

I absolutely love farming and even though I'm actively involved, I still enjoy watching others do it too. That's why I make videos, so others can enjoy it and learn about it (for the non-farmers). Once I get 3 nice days strung together in a row, I plan to start baling. But that doesn't seem like it'll be this week. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Thanks Nelson, as always, for your kind words. I never have nor never will say I am the ultimate expert. I'm just another farmer, but I try to give people the benefit of my experience of a lifetime in farming and hope it helps. Mine is not necessarily "the way", but I look at it as it gives people another possibility of ways they can accomplish something. They can compare it to the methods they see from other farmers and then make their choice. For nonfarmers, I just try to make it educational so they understand a little about what we do. I think it's important to give the "why's" and the rationale. I think that's important to help others with their thought process. And yes, hay's coming soon. My timothy hay is about ready and I hope to cut some down the end of this week and hopefully bale Monday if the weather holds up as the forecasters predict. Thanks for supporting me and my channel, Nelson. Means a lot.

Thanks for the video it's nothing but rain every other day Columbus lot of the farmers doing got stuff in the ground I got a 15-acre field bush hog every week with my beautiful 1855 Oliver that I just got love it straight pipe had to tear it all apart underneath the the seat on the hydraulics what is leaking replace the t-fitting somebody didn't put sealer on it so you had to tear it all apart and put new seals gaskets on runs beautifully I love it 2500 original hours runs good everything works down to the lights got it out of Indiana for 8700

We have a couple cyclo 400 corn planters and they dont plant all that well but I thought about taking off all the row units and just leave the fertilizer openers and the fertilizer boxes and make it 3 point hitch and use it to apply urea on the corn. This would place it under ground to prevent volatization. Not sure how it would work.

That's what Cousin Scott does in Scott's Small Farming and Things youtube channel. Seems to work pretty well for him.

Last time I applied anything to corn was about 1984........Last application of Urea to row crops was Cotton...5 years ago....Though I know how to grow it.... it doesn't fair well in the Deep South without some sort of irrigation.....We have only had one rain event in the last 15 days.... Corn in my area is rolled up sugar cane.....

@@SoybeanFarmer3300 My neighbor's Son was trying to plow up some drip-tape from last year and his tool.. didn't want to penetrate deep enough to get it....He has been super busy planting peanuts and cotton......I told his Son he better plant something, because my Bermuda grass is crossing the dirt drive way between us headed his way!!

My corn is 4 and 5 leaf also. Lucky for me my corn is using manure credits right now, I top dress urea when corn is knee high so I know it doesn't run out of nitrogen before maturity. I use stabilizer but still don't put faith in that saving the fertilizer if we don't get rain!

@@larsonvalleyfarm I wish I had some manure. Haven't had cattle on the farm since 1998. The manure is definitely a "plus". One of the reason's I top dress now is because I've read where it actually takes the urea about 2 weeks to before it's able to be utilized by the corn plants. This way, they will be getting it by the time the plants are 10-14 inches tall. Thanks for watching and commenting Brad. I also liked the "manure credits".

It's a good thing you're getting that urea out cause that patch of weeds were looking kinda peaked

That’s not too bad a whole day to do that that’s a reasonable amount of time but I have a question in your video when you’re going down the field there’s a big patch of weeds it is that are waterway or some weeds Im out of control

I was told by an agronomist that you cant put enough nitrogen on the corn for its full life cycle with the planter without causing harm. The corn just cant use that much at the time of planting.

@@TheJohndeere466 I heard that same thing. I think you're correct.

I hate to be a real downer on what you have done, but I believe you may have thrown away alot money on urea! The kind you spread should have been incorporated into the soil preplant, Superu is more designed for what you are trying to achieve, it is more expensive but it will stay in the soil better. I tried doing what you did on a small plot even cultivated it in, it didn't work so well. The ultimate product is anhydrous ammonia but it's dangerous and if you don't already have the equipment it's expensive, at 82percent nitrogen it's still the best bang for your buck! Please check out superu I think you will be much happier with the results! Good luck!
