Why Farmer's Side Dress Their Corn..

Why Farmer’s Side Dress Their Corn Crop
Video Topic: Side Dressing 2020
In this one I start off in the hog barn finishing up power washing at our site 2 barn. Only 4 more hours left and I’ll be completely done. Next we head over to our north corn field that dad already side dressed. There, I explain what side dressing is and why us farmer’s do it. I also go in depth on how important nitrogen is to having a successful corn crop. Finally, its time to get into the John Deere tractor and start side dressing.

This’ll Do Farm is a 6th generation family farm located in Southeast Iowa that is run by a father-son duo Tork and Sawyer. Sawyer is the force behind his family farm taking care of hog barns, along with farming the family’s acres. Sawyer promotes agriculture by recording his day-to-day life with his dad (Tork) on the farm. Both Tork and Sawyer have a burning desire to grow the farm bigger and bigger. Despite only being 20 years old, Sawyer has an old school work ethic with an innovative approach towards implementing agricultural technology and practices. Sawyer’s mission is to showcase agriculture in a positive light. And be one of the faces of agricultural education and innovation.

My last corn patch i put preplant fertilizer 46percent Urea in the bed, and being it was a garden spot I would work the corn up and cultivate I'd put both triple 13 NPK AND water 💧 it in I'd do that several times upto tasseling but I always water 💧 immediately after sidedressing

U mentioned hog manure - that reminded me of college, summer work back in 1969, Norman Park, GA. Where the Iveys were using the poop, N a hole to run a small power generator that runs on the fumes. Is that still a way of generating power?
