I'm pretty sure I've seen exactly this in the rulebooks before when describing which factions can field armies together. Not sure the exact phrasing used, but it was out of "necessity" or "opportunity" or something like that. As in, shit is going down, who are you more likely to team up with and who are you more likely to attack. Eldar and Tau are friendlier to each other than either are to the Imperium and anyone who knows even a little bit about 40k would know that. These guys were just being cunts.

I just LOVE the story about gate keepers getting their ass kicked. I mean this kids WANTS to get into your objectivly obscure hobby. he already bought models and came to the LGS to learn. he did everything right and still some Aholes want to ruin his fun... ok CRAIG play by yourself then, see how that goes. personally I only ever had one player like that (dnd, one of the players didn't know the language all that well (yet). that guy wanted to make fun of her and beratted her all game, he got the boot real fast, still playing with that super sweet chinese lady though)

Tbh with so many people getting into hobbies and well known series and stuff and openly trying to destroy and change for themselves while not actually holding interest in said hobby, I'm not opposed to gate keeping, Arch makes really good points on this, buuuuut ya no, no need to be an absolute asshole about it, this kid is obviously not trying to fuck with the setting or change things he got a gift and was genuinely interested and even asked for painting advice, like back the hell off as bad as the people who are trying to destroy the hobby from the inside are, you who are being an elitist prick and pushing new people out by acting like a poopy head is just as bad.. Sorry for the rant and wall it just grinds my damn gears and I hope the kid stays in the hobby thanks to the good boi edgelord lol. Just to clarify I'm not opposed to gate keeping if it's done right and in the name of wanting to get people in who show actual interest and want to have fun and learn something new.

@@telleqwin7266 Idk, I get what you are saying but those cases (newcomers taking over the hobby) is so rare. Most newcomers willl either show interrest and stikc with it or show interrest and quietly leave after a bit. so either way no harm done. I think you should defend your hobby, but give them the benefit of the doubt. In the rare case where newer people want to take over, be my guest, call them out.

As someone who's dealt with high blood sugar in the past... kinda amazed that guy was lucid enough to do any sort of gaming, honestly. Thank goodness OP was there to get some sense into the couple before they had to call the mortuary instead of the hospital.

That last one made me actually pump my fist. Those assholes walked right into that firing line. And they clearly need to brush off on their lore, Drukhari work as mercenaries occasionally. And there is a specific instance where they worked with Tau against some Tyranids in return for a "cultural exchange". I'll let you figure out what that could imply.

The Tau are willing to accept and work alongside literally anybody that's willing and hasn't given them a reason to kill them on sight. The Drukhari are known to act as mercenaries and they're smart enough to see a good opportunity when they see one. Meanwhile, the TGs were playing the classic Imperium stereotype: Xenos of all kinds are idiotic and evil and must be purged, making any attempt to understand them (aside from "what's the best way to purge them?") is heresy.

@@Groundlord Even back in teh hoarfrost days, I just simply had the fluff for my IG army being a mercenary company. Easy to justify almost anything by then. I was even planning on staring to give them Blood Axe clan orcs based off of an old piece of 40k artwork depicting BA's and human mercs cooperating in a siege.

Also mix to very different armies did back in the days when i played (90ies) make monster armies as we had an eldar/orc army which basically tear space smurf army to pulp for the speed, psychic and ranged combat of eldar and the melee and meat shield properties of orcs made it very hard for the spacemarines to even have chans. It wasn't rulebook but when some of us didnt have large enough armies we borrowed troops of each other. So i could easy see how "broken" mixed army would beat a pure army it was the assholes downfall to underestimate the mixed army.

40k is a weird community. I accept That Guys because at least they aren't open fascists.

I took care of patients that didn’t manage their diabetes: they ended up with multiple amputations. One already lost multiple toes, and still refused to take it seriously. He ended up with necrotic tissue and gangrene. So, I had to get his blood circulation going again, so he could survive another amputation. He ended up losing his leg up to his thigh. That was the last I saw of him. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to take his other leg. He just didn’t care. Diabetes is serious.

Used to care for a diabetic who just loved his baked goods. Used to be the culinary director for the Marriott hotel chain. After like a year I realized he was sneaking snack cakes and stuff. Got Charcot foot and had to get it amputated. Some people just can’t help themselves even if their lives depend on it.

I worked with a bad diabetic for years, and I just gotta say the people in that first story got lucky. Our boy got violent when his blood sugar got out of whack. To the point he'd take off his leg (like I said, he was a _bad_ diabetic) and try to hit people with it.

Weirdly, I sort of understand this. Some people don't care about themselves or their life due to past trauma / mental health. Some people are having such a shit time that they've given up caring because when they do care they still don't enjoy their life anyway. And some folks value their life differently, and I imagine have an attitude of 'why live much longer being unable to eat the things I like and do the things I like when I could just enjoy my life now and have it end sooner'. Quality over quantity where quality is very subjective. Some folks are just angry and stubborn and don't want to change because it means acceptance and it's too hard to accept. People are just weirdly simple and complex all at once.

I live in Finland and I've never heard about diabetics needing multiple amputations before coming to internet and talking to Americans.

I'm especially sad, when I see a "that guy" in the Warhammer community. Warhammer has a crazy steep learning curve, and for this reason, the standard that guy behaviours deal much more damage to new players.

Even one that guy in Warhammer can cost the community a dozen new players easily if they are the type to hang out at the store and not get called out on their BS. We need the new blood, badly, to keep the game going because its so hard to get people with the dedication to get past the initial bumps like the price and learning the game. There's limits to how many new models existing players will ever buy normally since once you have all you need for an army, there's a chance you may never touch a new model again and that won't keep GW in business long term(On top of all the other stuff they do to make existing players angry).

Other media has edgy and dark elements as well, but Warhammer 40k is just so extra, so over the top, so unbelievably buffed that you would think there is no way someone would lack self-awareness so much he would not realize the irony of it. And yet here we are. The ignorance of that-guys cought me off guard once again.

Ok the last story really got me. The prime example of the best and some mid tier bad behaviour. I really hope the kid finds a non-toxic gaming group to play with and maybe one day, delightfully slurping a cold beverage and as the two sisters players viciously take eachother apart over a small disagreement bbefore ultimately quitting the game entirely because of the inability to digest their own toxisity.

I know next to nothing about 40k, though it has held a little more interest of late for me, but I always love seeing/hearing the jackasses who talk MAD shit and bully the new/young players get bulldozed after they did everything they could to set up an unfair advantage. Especially when the person they were picking on gets to help dish out the pain

That guy: "It's stupid for the Tau to team up with Dark Eldar given what happened in the past" I dunno about that, the Tau are definitely naive enough to team up with the Dark Eldar a second time.

I'm glad the DM recognized those symptoms. As OP themselves said, it probably saved that guy's life. I actually did think "Wait, is he diabetic?" after you read out about the profuse urination. I can thank Chubbyemu videos for me knowing that's one of the symptoms. The high blood sugar level essentially overloads the kidneys' ability to re-absorb sugar, so a bunch of sugars get in to the urine; and the concentration gradient causes extra water to get pulled out along with that sugar. So, that's where having to pee a lot and thirst/dehydration comes from.

So, regarding the story about the recovering smoker: I have a feeling the original host wasn't actually "cut out" when everybody moved to ex-smoker's place. I suspect he refused to join when they said they'd move, and either OP assumed they cut him out, or they put that spin on it when they told him why he wasn't joining them. Because seriously, it does not like like that guy would have been willing to keep playing with OP.

Dude, I love how wholesome that last story was. More people need to be like that. Reminds me of when my friends and I played Yugioh and we helped a little kid put together a pretty kickass deck for a tournament because it was his first time, using some of our spare cards we didn't need. He didn't win the tournament (neither did we) but we had fun none the less. People forget these games are supposed to be *FUN*

In the last story the op is a lot like me. He just naturally gravitated towards dark and spooky stuff. Chipper goths for the win! Being kind towards newbies is the coolest thing you can do so three cheers for this duo!

For story 2, I can see why they'd get mad at the one guy for blowing up over OP's issues, mainly because... someone's dealing with a LOT to try and improve, and their body is literally fighting them to just go back and do the thing. It's not even a matter of sympathy, but you can literally ruin someone's attempt TO make a change for the better and send them back into their addiction worse than before when you act like that. I've been around friends who are doing a cold turkey quit, they can be testy at times for sure, but I'd rather deal with a few months of them being an ass to help them quit an addiction that's likely to cut their life shorter than focus on everyone being super chill. Now yes, there IS a middle ground of just telling OP "Hey, you're dealing with a lot, I get it, but you're being kinda rude, do we need to take a break for a few weeks so you can gather yourself and come back to this when you're more you?", cause I DO get not wanting to be around someone acting like that. It's that... the host literally went about it in the worst way they could have.

Thing about story 2 is that OP explicitly didn't tell the guy. Not until AFTER the fact, like the dude was just supposed to what, use the telepathy he doesn't have to intuit that the OP was suffering withdrawals, and wasn't just a That Guy. But no, he just keeps it to himself and his close friends, then they all snap on the guy who didn't and couldn't know. Then OP cryposts about the mad guy not communicating that he was upset, while the *enitre problem* was rooted directly in OP failing to do the same.

When I quit smoking I kept myself in check and when it got too much and I was angry or even just short with people I would apologise for MY actions. What you're talking about is victim blaming some guy who had to endure this guys abusive behaviour. Quitting smoking doesn't somehow make you unaware of your mistreatment of others. Given that the only perspective we have on it is the original poster, who clearly had poor insight into their own behavior? I can only imagine what the story would look like if we actually had the other perspective. Couple rules to live by, if someone is hosting an opening their home for a large group, and you are a guest and not direct friend, don’t be an asshole. If you have to be because you are quitting smoking, go find something else to do. We all have struggles we’re going through, don’t make yours everyone else’s.

Oh man, as a Tau main, that third story made me proud. Thank you for sticking up for both the learners and the little armies.

I am so glad OP and Michael won their 40k battle. Gatekeeping is such a toxic and self-defeating attitude for players to have; all it does is rob the table of new players and potential players of the opportunity to try out something new. OP is an effing champ for standing up for Michael, helping him with his minis, introducing him to the friendlier crowd, joining forces with him in the battle and even going so far as to completely take the wind out of those guys' sails when it came to the lore. The game gained a new player and Michael gained a now hobby, new skills and new friends.

The guys in the last story are the reason new players leave the wargaming hobby. Personally, I prepare lists of different points (2k, 1.5k, 1k and 500, usually using the same units) when going somewhere to play, as I know the hopelessness of standing there with less than standard, and no one being willing to play against you. Btw, the "I felt like killing something beautiful" line could have been "I felt like killing something with a soul" seeing as T'au souls barely even register.

I have a niece who had similar symptoms and refused to check her blood sugar, she was a tween at the time so I was kinda hoping a fully-grown adult would know better. Though the blood sugar mood changes are considered not held liable in a court of law so it makes sense for him to not quite prioritize his health at the time.

Exactly! A lot of people don't realize that extremely high or low blood sugar can cause some insane mood changes, as well as some very irrational behavior. I got to find this out from my mom, who was diabetic, as well as 3 different friends who were diabetic.

That first story reminded me of a few years ago when I was having symptoms of vomiting and frequent urination and became completely convinced that I was diabetic. I went to my doctor to get checked out and found out that I had food poisoning instead so the symptoms can be similar. Either way though your doctor is the one who is going to figure this stuff out and you shouldn't be putting yourself in such a risky situation like that.

The Michael story melted my heart to listen to. I never understood how grown ass adults can stand there and bully a young teenager putting their all into something. Gods damned despicable.

My dad is diabetic. Just hearing the first two symptoms sent red flags up and down my head like a jackhammer. We don't F around with this.

Something I've noticed with some 40k friends of mine when we chat during D&D session downtime.... The topic comes up often of why 'New players don't get into 40k'.. And it always comes to the conclusion of money, time.. and the fact the community tends to turn away new players because they aren't immediately in the 'meta' thus chasing them off in the first place.. leaving the old guard to stew in those making the toxicity... So props to you OP of the second post, I'm linking this video to my pals, they should get some happy tears out of this~

With the diabetes one, yeah I've seen how much someone can be not in their right mind when their blood sugar is over 500 so I'm glad that people insisted that he go to a hospital. For the nicotine withdrawal one, I agree with our Lord and Crabiness that both of them should have been sat down and talked to and maybe had a couple sessions away from each other to clear out aggravation. I'm glad that OP recognizes that they thought they had it handled but did not and felt bad about it and seemed to take steps to accountability.

Agreed, I honestly think it was a win/win in the end, OP finally learned how to self-reflect (or so he claims) and the other guy doesn't have to play with a toxic self-admitted serial abuser. I just feel bad for the people around him who he's made so numb with his constant harassment.

My ex boyfriend has diabetes and thankfully he’s always on top of it but even in the odd moment he slipped a bit it can still be pretty terrifying. He came to visit one time and forgot his back up insulin and thankfully we were able to get some from the CVS close to me (I had to pay for it cause it was stupid expensive and they almost didn’t even want to give it to me, he paied me back) so I’m glad DM was a good enough friend to hop in and basically save his life

Even if you agree with the US having health care be optional i think we can all agree insulin being that expensive is fucking ridiculous

That last story warmed my heart. Good for them.

I come to these videos because I love to hear the horror stories, but it is nice to hear stories like the last one every now and then. The horror stories make gaming seem like a cesspool of gatekeepers and assorted jerks. It's nice to hear of someone going out of his way to help a new guy get started in the hobby, and it is nice to hear of the That Guys getting what they deserve for once. As for the first story, diabetes is no joke. I'm glad there were people at the table who knew what was going on. They might have saved the guy's life.

To the first story: what is being described is diabetic ketoacidosis - I know from experience. I felt so bad I was afraid I would not die, and was in the hospital for 2 days. I can't imagine being so pig headed as to want to keep gaming when feeling like that. On the bright side: a decade later I still have all my fingers and toes. To the last story: not a WH fan, but mad respect to Edgelord OP! Way to spread positivity and show a newbie how to be awesome - in painting skill, gaming skill, and in being a good person!

I appreciate the 40k story to shake things up. The Tau/Dark Eldar team up is kinda like the War of Dark Revelations (without the subsequent Dark Eldar backstabbing).

STORY #1 OP probably saved the player's life. STORY #2 The other player is the villain here, not OP. Yeah OP was being a jerk, as he admitted himself, but the other player could have *mentioned it to OP directly!* Instead he acted passive-aggressively, suddenly flipped out, and expected OP to be a mind-reader. STORY #3 This is a sweet story. OP helped Michel get into the game and beat two jerks.

If anything, the other player in story 2 sounded like they genuinely misremembered their own actions, and then couldn't back down while agitated. Not good, but somewhat understandable under exhasperation. The test would be how they handled it after, but we heard nothing of that.

Disagree with your take on story two. Dude was hosting, opening up his home to the players. OP clearly wasn’t one of his friends, but somebody that someone else brought. It was evident that OP was being a problem. He was his friends responsibility, not the hosts. If you can open up your house like that, the least everyone else can do is deal with problematic behavior from their friends. No one wants to have to be the one to confront somebody with behavior like that.

And aside from asking why he didn't tell OP to not show up directly it seems like OP didn't argue with him. Yet it sounds like the dude continued going off while he packed his shit and was walking out the door. I get they were his friends and all, but if they kinda were avoiding OP cause of him being a bit of an anger mine, sounds like they chose to deal with him rather than the host potentially going off on someone else without any real warning too. so i gotta assume the host had moments of his own. but ya know, bystander with no info and all.

I can understand why the first one didn't realize it was an emergency. Yes there were many warning signs that say something is wrong, but as OP said confusion. High blood pressure often messes with many functions in the brain, the confusion ends up rationalizing the situation and it's why many people should have someone who lives with them to get them help. If you can tell a person is not sound of mind and they're refusing your help, *you can help them by calling emergency services* many states in the US have laws in place to help those with good intentions. So if a person is confused, having those side effects, and is not sound of mind, you most likely can call for help because the laws often state that consent is applied. This is because the person is considered to not be able to give consent under current conditions, it's the same if they are semi or unconscious. (any medical information aside, it's always good to have a second person in case of a unexpected emergency like a heart attack or stroke).

It might also have been partially due to denial. Like, someone else telling them it's an actual organ-failure-level emergency and the girlfriend responding with "Hmmm I dunno, we'll wait for our GP to have time to see us" feels like they'd known on some level that it was an emergency but maybe if we ignore it, it'll go away.

@@gwammeh 100% that's the case for many life or death situations. I'm currently studying to be a nursing assistant and that is one of the main things we have learned is that people ignore the symptoms thinking they're something else. It's actually common for the wife to have that response as women are more likely than men to relate symptoms to something different (often they relate heart attack symptoms to growing pains).

Ech, those Warhammer guys. I really enjoyed the hobby for a time, but people like this where basically the only ones playing in my area here. Sucked the fun out of the entire thing for me real quick.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the host of the nicotine story was stubborn and wasn't willing to budge. That's the only reason I can think of.

I didn't know that anime is real. Makes some amazing stories for sure.

The diabetes just gives me reminders of when I found out, luckily the guy made it out okay on treatment and figured it out quick enough, I was at 1400 when I was admitted. But it wasn't type 2 like the guy in the story. It was type 1, meaning different kind of care and treatment in a way.

That last story really hit me in the heartstrings, The Emperor must be smiling upon the Xenos today, because they won with a 1,500 point deficit. Really showed those Heretics up. Makes me smile.

So, when someone quits smoking cold turkey, they will get aggressive and angry easily. The friends were being supportive of OP during a hard time. Yes, it was a self-inflicted situation, but I guess their friends decided that the health of a good friend is more important than losing that friend. However, the other guy swore up and down that OP was the problem and resorted to screaming and pointing fingers, even after realizing he didn't communicate his feelings well at all. The difference is that OP knew he was being an aggressive asshole, and the other guy thought he was doing some justice despite not communicating his feelings with anyone other than his wife. I do agree, they could have given him another chance, but it's possible that even after explaining the situation to him, he still decided that he didn't want to deal with OP. That, or they thought he was still gonna be a problem because of what he had told them out of OP's earshot distance.

I think the second scenario had to have been a bigger problem than OP realized. Maybe that guy was the type to silently be resentful and lash out and the situation with OP was just the last straw. Just a guess, of course.

Loved that warhammer story, I love when people help new players in any game, especially in the face of That Guys. Screw That Guy.

With one of the groups I’m in, we have a general policy about being sick at the table. Stay home. We have two different people that we interact with that get sick very easily. So we make sure that if any one of us isn’t feeling good we stay home for a week or two so we aren’t infecting one of them

I demand more stories like the last one. That is the quality content I love to see. It's so anime, and it's great.

As a 40K player (as well as a Dark Eldar player) the second story warms my heart. When I started playing, it was a very small community and a lot of the veterans in the scene were very generous to the new players. I myself did a little "pay it forward" when I gave a whole painted guard army to my friend's son.

As a Warhammer 40k fan, I loved the last story. Though I'm nowhere near as versed in the lore as to know why the Dark Eldar and Tau would team up, I personally wouldn't care if someone came with Chaos Space Marines and asked to join forces with my Space Wolves (I dont actually have any minis to play with, I'd have a hole in my bank account, just giving an example). It's just something I don't really care about when it comes to playing the game. Even the RTS games on PC, my friends and I always made stupid team ups like Orks and Tau, or Guardsmen and Necrons. But I do know how toxic the fandom can be. Some of us at least joke around with one another. As a fan of the Space Wolves chapter, we get called Space Furries a lot. Ultramarines get called Tau Lovers, Ultratwats, Smurfs/Ultrasmurfs, ect. But some people actually go to lengths as to why you like said race/chapter makes you pathetic or stupid or insignificant. Dude, I just like the universe, piss off with your negativity. Lore is fun to talk about, and I get wanting to keep some of the games "lore friendly" but you do not have to be a dick about it. Don't berate players for having a certain army or teaming up with a completely different faction.

So one of the things about Warhammer 40k, is that the setting is deliberately written in such a way that you can justify any possible match-up and any possible team-up. When your faction hates everyone in the galaxy, this means that fighting alongside one faction for necessity isn't inherently more undesirable than fighting alongside another. There are plenty of cases like this in the lore - Imperial Fists and Iron Warriors teaming up against Orks, Blood Angels and Necrons teaming up against Tyranids, Imperial Guard and Eldar teaming up against a Daemon, and yes, even Dark Eldar and Tau teaming up against Tyranids. These scenarios are deliberately written by Games Workshop to explain how almost any possible match-up can technically be lore-friendly. There are also plenty of cases of Tau fighting Tau, Imperial Guard fighting Imperial Guard, Loyalist Space Marine chapters fighting each other, and so on. If you're creative enough, the sky is the limit, and you can bullshit any reason for why any scenario can happen. Anyone who claims otherwise does not understand the setting half as well as they claim. Pretty much every faction is a loose decentralized mess that has multiple competing subfactions, dissent at every corner, and tons of conflicting interests. This inner turmoil might not be as present in a faction like, let's say the Tau, but they still have it too - just look at the Farsight Enclaves. Even mindless hive mind factions like the Tyranids have it - two rival hive fleets will beat the shit out of and attempt to absorb each other in order to make sure the strongest one prevails. I read a book where at the very end it featured Imperial guard, Adeptus Mechanicus, Eldar, Genestealers, and Orks all fighting alongside one another, under the leadership of Necrons... against other Necrons. The Necrons were mind-controlling them, of course, but it still happened, and it was awesome.

Yeaahh, this was similar to what happened to me, symptoms and all while i was at work. Ended up with some organ damage BGC was over 500 as well. And yeah metformin is rough as hell, thankfully only 2 weeks of acclimating. but this does happen when your an undiagnosed diabetic and don't pay attention to your body. Shit's scary, glad the folks around him cared enough to help

Honestly, the most illness I've done DnD through was a mild case of UTI (none of the painful symptoms, just permanent feeling of full bladder, even when you've just emptied it). But actual major stuff like *almost dying* seems a few steps too far.

Hi, person with Crohn's Disease here. Was in the middle of an RPG session (homebrew Final Fantasy system if anyone cares) when my pancreas exploded due to taking the wrong medication. :') Was miserable for some 5 hours before deciding to finally go to the hospital. Spent two weeks there. I'm good now.

A similar situation as the second story kinda happened to one of my groups at one point. In our case there was only 3 options; dropping player 1, dropping player 2 or kicking them both. We had a lot of very diplomatic mediators, yet every session devolved into those two players tearing each others throats out verbally, so there really wasn't any other option. Luckily one of them simply bowed out, but I'm pretty sure we would have kicked both of them for being inconsiderate assholes about it all if that hadn't happened.

speaking on the quitting smoking story the group forgave OP because there were extenuating circumstances, aka recovering from their smoke habit, thus OP's crankiness is not 100% their fault that guy however as far as we know has no reason to fly off the handle and continue his tirade as OP was packing up his stuff IF he had talked to the DM or any of the other players or more directly, OP themselves, in a calm reasonable manner maybe it would have been different but from the rest of the table's POV they have a player who just blew up one session and started screaming at another player, and another player who sometimes can be aggressive because of his withdrawal and seemingly accepted his blame and left...all while the first player never calmed down and never stopped screaming his head off even after being told of the situation my point is yes i agree with CritCrab that what that guy wanted wasn't unreasonable BUT if he'll be this much of an ass about it even AFTER getting the full picture, what else is he gonna suddenly explode over?

I agree with everything you said except for OP crankiness not being 100% their fault. It is. There is no way around that fact. Sure, the withdrawals make it harder to hold his temper but he wouldn't have them if it wasn't for decisions he made earlier in life, so it's still 100% his fault.

by your logic then nobody should do anything say a person wears good clothing and wears good sunblock and still develops skin cancer by your logic its still 100% their fault for going out right? people can make the right decisions all their life and still get unfortunate results my example is extreme yes but its to illustrate that you cant just say "you deserve what you get cause of what you did early in life" especially when you have no idea who those people are

As soon as I heard that initial symptom list with the first story, I knew what it was. I had a friend who went through the same symptoms, and we tried frantically to rehydrate him and replenish electrolytes. I asked my cousin for her opinion on how serious the situation was. She advised me to take him to the ER right away. Doctors told us later that night that his blood sugar was 900 mg/dL, and that people can often go into diabetic coma at 600. Now it hovers around 140-160 most of the time.

michael's story is genuinely that of a fresh crazy hobby anime. -Pro to his eyes mentor -Immediate conflict -Turnaround with an unexpected synergy *and* upset tabletop anime when

Oh, that third O.P. there... I had to pause for a moment and just give my sympathies: Dark Eldar... I hope they one-day get the rewards are long deserved. Added: I do have to say the team up had me giddy as I know that lore, I love that lore, and the Tau are naïve enough to make that mistake yet again I am sure. A young commoner of a small force, out-numbered by a massive number of necro********** fanatic's wouldn't think twice about a 'no questions asked' deal from some voice claiming to be a friend. Consider the way the kid moved with the fire-warriors, I think he understands what the Tau are all about and his naivety at the tabletop actually embraced them so well! I hope he doesn't listen to 'that guy' advice, the big-mech units lose a lot of this battle-field flexibility. It was a very beautiful Kauyon, showing you don't need a big gun to be the ambush.

Story 2: Cutting out the other guy makes plenty of sense. Number one, he's clearly not really in their friend circle, so any slights will make it easier to remove them. Second. The friend group likely saw the guy's blow up on OP as kicking him while he was down, so now he's a massive jerk. Third. For all we know so far, the friend group has witnessed first hand that this guy has no acceptance or tolerance, if not an outright hatred, for people dealing with mental and medical issues.

The way we deal with mental health issues is setting strict limits and accountability for anti social behaviors. Otherwise you just contribute to their social isolation? The original poster freely says that his friends just took to avoiding him, which left him without accountability for his behavior, which is what led to him behaving in a fashion that got him yelled at inside of a social group.

That last story was great, I’d love to hear more from them despite not knowing much about Warhammer. Thanks for the batch of wholesome stories.

OP in second half is a true hero. Cant say how many literally toxic players I've met in 40k, WHFB, literally any tabletop RPG, or MtG. Fostering kids and teaching them keeps the hobby going. It should never be exclusive. My son was playing MtG at seven years old- taught him math, strategy, and looking forward to repercussions of actions. He's still playing. He's probably the best of his friend group now at age 12, and gives me a run for my money. Gonna like even though I knew they'd win.

I tried to keep gaming through a similar thing but it was my gall bladder bursting not the diabetes

One of my best friends and a long time player in our group recently passed away due to a spike in his blood sugar due to diabetes he didn't know he had. He went from a light headache to total organ failure in less than 2 hours. I miss him dearly, and playing just hasn't been the same without him around. Guys, don't play around with symptoms of blood sugar issues. They WILL kill you, and very quickly if not discovered.

The last story is so wholesome! I'm glad this guy was cool enough to share his love for the game. Don't understand adults trying to bully a child, but this is how you drive away new players

2nd story sounds like a "it's him or me moment" and OP's friends chose him. It's sad that OP and mad guy couldn't come to an understanding and salvage their group, but meh.

Finally something wholesome! Love your channel, dude, but a lot of your recent source material has been more… uncomfortable than anything else for me. Love the funny stories, the learning stories, and the wholesome stories, but there’s only so many creepers I can deal with hearing about, y’know?

I work in an ambulance and our glucometers also cannot register a BGL over 500. Once when the receiving ER nurse asked for the patient's BGL I told her "The glucometer says hi, so I do not know but at least our equipment has good manners."

@1337seeker I have done that before, I have a long habit of talking to my equipment, but the patient's family was less than amused so I have avoided doing so since.

The fact that this guy in the second story flew off the handle then kept pressing the issue AS Op was leaving speaks that his own behavior likely wasn't any better than OPs. My guess is while OP was showing progression to being a better person this guy wasn't and that's why the friends chose OP over the host. Nobody who reacts like that guy did does so out of the blue, he likely wasn't that great to hang around to begin with.

Regarding the second story, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the friends being willing to tolerate OPs attitude, but unwilling for the other guy, came from how the confrontation was handled. I'm a smoker who has repeatedly struggled with quitting, it does turn you into an irritable dickhead who acts ways you wouldn't normally act, but it doesn't erase your personality and if you're a patient and self-reflective person then you can be mindful of your bad behavior and avoid burning bridges too severely, and that's reflected in the way OP decided to quietly leave when he learned he wasn't welcome. The other guy, though, showed his own temperament when he refused to acknowledge his own mistake and tried to shift the burden of the misunderstanding to the dude he was mad at. I have a feeling that in OPs absence there were attempts by his friends to squash the drama with the other guy which were unsuccessful, because unlike OP he was not a reflective dude who gave consideration to fairness toward others.

I had one player who stood in a pitch black field with mosquitos to play our online session (he was on holiday and had no internet in his house). He was fine, but he's an absolute Chad. This man is also the only reason I didn't give up on d&d years ago from a problem player. I love this man

That 40K feel good made me smile. I needed that. Haven't smiled genuinely in a while

What's the point of not wanting to go to the hospital because of the game if it will be your last? If you want to play more you need to be alive

"I remind him that we work at the same place and his insurance is PPO like mine. So a hospital visit won't break the bank." Well, looks like I'm too European to understand this joke. I bet it's pretty hilarious if you live in America and you still don't have universal healthcare like all of the developed world and some of the developing one has. 🙂

I didn't come here to shed tears of joy, but I don't regret it. That memory will stick with the kid for a long time.

Whoa! No joke, I am about to send my resume to a Customer Support position for company, specializing in diabetes care and was actually going to educate myself on a topic, opening this video instead. Finally, procrastination worked in my favor :D

"I wanted to destroy something beautiful" is the most raw shit a Dark Eldar could say in that context and 3rd OP should NEVER be ashamed of that.

The funniest part about the warhammer story is the Dark Eldar and the Tau do team up at one point. It was to acquire Tau slaves to turn into Grotesques through an exchange program, but they did work together.

Final story is a beautiful underdog story. Life always loves an underdog

I'm so glad the second story ended with the antagonists being tabled. Glorious.
