Hey guys! Since a few of you have been wondering, I wanted to let you know that Shylma is still very much alive and kicking. I've been withdrawn from social media for a while now, but that's just because I tend to go into full recluse mode when working on new stuff. In other words, no news is usually good news. As you probably know by now, we take our time with albums until we feel they are truly radiating the atmosphere we had in mind, so future instalments will be no different. With that said, I'm very eager to keep going with the project! Thank you all once again for making it worth our while. As for our Bandcamp shop: I had to close down the physical side for the time being, due to local/international corona measures making shipping too uncertain (or in the case of some countries, impossible). I'm just a guy selling CDs and T-shirts from my home, so I don't really have the means to be able to ship guaranteed tracked packages for low prices like big companies do. What a coincidence to see this update being 23 hours before posting this comment mate, I was looking forwards for an update from you you guys, just 2 days ago I read the interview on progwereld when I visited the facebook page of Shylmagoghnar, I want you guys to know that what you're doing is appreciated, I'am looking forward to the next album, it feels as if I have lost a decade, which I'm leaving behind, though it took roughly 3 months of the new decade. I want you guys to know that your music has been soothing to me through the last 20+ months since I've discovered you guys, I hope your legacy will be huge. Thanks guys! We've been eager to share this news with you all for a while now, so I'm glad the cat's out of the bag. We're putting as much time as we can now into finishing that second album (and finally releasing the Emergence vinyl, which we've been wanting to do for nearly 3 years now!), so hopefully we'll have some good news in the not too distant future. No worries though - we're taking our time to craft everything exactly the way we want it to be and I'm pleased to say that Napalm fully supports that mentality.

For now we're purposely avoiding to answer that, to not build up hopes and then let then down again if there are delays. So for now I have to be boring and say 'somewhere later this year'. Once things are closer to finished and we have a realistic idea I'll post about it here and on our other sites though :)

I really liked and agreed with that - I feel like the pursuit of music (or any art for that matter) resembles a monk's lifestyle, as in that you aim both your thoughts and your actions towards revering and trying to grasp something which is greater than yourself; but I could never find your comment again so I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to reply! Sometimes you just wander the stream and all of a sudden, you tumble on this kind of gold chunk. You feel relief , joy , pride and utter bliss . Another piece of art in my collection. Praise the Music Lords !

I'm the guy who handles the instruments and production for us in general, which I absolutely love, but I've noticed that it is hard to keep all of it on the same level. I'm a pretty systematic guy so I don't worry about it too much for the future, but I think that on this debut it's pretty clear which facets the two of us had most experience in. So yes, synths are definitely on the list of things that I want to get more creative control over!

My big concern these days is that it actually takes me 7 years to get back to people sometimes! But yes, it's very much from the heart. The responses we've been receiving to this project put a stark contrast on how hopeless the situation in which this debut was created seemed. It has truly transformed my life for the better, and I'm sure that my band mate would agree. No words can express my gratitude for that to the people here or anywhere else.

We'd probably start with a limited edition of 300. We haven't gotten the exact details figured out yet, as we first want to keep an eye on the reactions - so not sure yet how many we would need to sell to cut at least even. Right now it's basically just the more the merrier :)

This whole album is a masterpiece, but "A New Dawn" is otherworldly good. One of the best metal songs ever written.

absolutely underrated one of my top albums

This came up on autoplay and I was about to switch to another song, but I read a few comments and they were all praising this so much that I had to check this out and I am so glad I did! This is fantastic!

Wow, this is amazing. The fact that this was produced independently makes it even more impressive. It has amazing riffs and melodies and the vocals are spot on. I really hope we can hear more from you in the future.

I'm almost 40 years old and have been listening to metal since I was 10, never heard of you guys until 2 months ago when I reunited with a friend that I hadn't seen in over 20 years and in our conversation he suggested your music. I checked you guys out and I was instantly mesmerized by the passages of your songs, and the riffs. Holy hell. Both albums are now in my daily playlist. Looking forward to hear new work from you!

Same here. Had no idea shit this good was this being made after the prog-djent craze. Feels like picking right back up where I stopped taking in new metal. Actually makes me feel younger lol now if drum n bass only had such a dedicated crowd keeping it alive

I'll forever associate and be greatful to this album for helping/uplifting me from my depression. First track helped process and release emotions...like a journey, in just 8 minutes...second track gave me strength to move on. Thank you!

It gives me great relief to hear that, thank you. Those first two songs were written as a form of self therapy for me as well. I wrote them in a time where I got so ill that I had to spontaneously give up on everything I had been working towards at that point, so it was more or less an act of desperation. I'm glad to say that those dark times didn't last forever. My band mate Skirge translated that shift well into words on A New Dawn. I'm glad we're not the only ones who benefited from that rocky journey. All the best to you and take good care of yourself!

This is your guys DEBUT? Holy shit. This sounds like years of honing in a sound that a veteran band might have to produce. This album is fucking great. I haven't been this thoroughly awestruck by an album since I first experienced The Mantle by Agalloch. Truly incredible and I'll definitely be keeping up with every subsequent album that you guys put out.

Crushing, brutal, and catchy melodies seasoned with melancholy. Vocals and lyrics that illicit tangibly fierce sorrow. Fucking love everything about this. You guys have so much talent. I can't wait to see you guys get more popular!

No idea how I found this album, but since the first time I heard it, I've been listening each and every time that I pressed play. I have shared it with friends around the world, Norway, Mexico - because the sound is, in my opinion unique. Always looking forward for that intro of I Am The Abyss, always getting the goosebumps from A New Dawn.. And of course everything in between, touring me around thoughts, emotions and feelings that only great music can achieve. I truly experience your music as great and hope by expressing that to you, the artists, that you are inspired to continue the hard work of providing great emotions and feelings through sound!

Found this band by coincidence and I'm a huge fan now! Bolt thrower, Dissection, Lord Belial, Summoning, Wolfheart, Insomnium...all in one album!

Just came across this album... now I've been a metalhead for many years but this right here is pure fucking gold, I just can't stop listening to it... everything about it is amazing, the structure, the lyrics, the instruments... pure gold.

I remember when this album first showed up and everyone's jaw just dropped. Such a damn good album!

This album randomly showed up at recommended video's, and it's one of my favorite ones now. Keep up the good work!

I agree, it's frustrating as hell. Basically what's happening is this: if a certain amount of copyrighted songs are detected in a video, it is automatically blocked by YT in some countries, and the digital distributor who protects those copyrights cannot manually unblock it (don't you just love automated systems?). For some reason, with this video it seems to only be happening in the US (at least as far as I'm aware), which is why we didn't notice it until it was already out. We're currently looking if there is a way to remove some of the copyright claims on this specific video, so it becomes unblocked. I really hope it is resolved asap, but there is sadly nothing I can do but wait right now.

I am so happy I was able to get a physical copy of this masterpiece it has been my favorite metal album since I first got into metal before I even knew what black metal was! Whenever I feel down or just want to listen to something that embodies heavy metal for me this album is my absolute favorite and cheers me up!

This album is the only music I have bought for myself in the past 5+ years, incredible that every track is as good as the last, I need to check out their newer stuff when I get the chance.

I must make a compliment to these guys.Very talented and brilliiant musicians.Very beautiful songs,very creative and very diverse compositions....Step into the transcendence boundaries and enter inside the electrical plasma dimensions of the cosmic rhythms......ENTER?...YES!

Thinking about that I stumbled across this when it was at 200 views. Now with 2,600,000 it's unbelievable but I'm so happy you guys get the exposure you deserve. Eternal masterpiece.

Cannot stop playing that whole section @ 17:06, melodic BM perfection. Just love all the genres these guys can weave into one album, worth every penny!

Bought this off of Bandcamp little over three years ago - still one of the most requested records in the daily carpool among my non-metalhead friends (we've taken to calling it Shylly). Further, what initially drew me to this record, and I'm pretty sure I also said this in the message I sent with my purchase (which you guys were awesome enough to respond to!) is that this is exactly the kind of stuff I did/would write. The tempo changes, the variations on similar themes, THE DRUMMING (represented well by the first minute of 'Emergence' ) are so damn satisfying! Shylmagoghnar speaks to me on a primal level - love you dudes!

It's always wonderful to hear when someone appreciates your music, but coming from a fellow musician it's special to me. I know how hard it can be for myself to listen to music without going into analysis-mode, so if you can hear this through that filter and still enjoy it... well, that's all we could ever hope for really. Whenever someone requests the album in the car, tell them I said hi please!

There are a LOT of socalled blackened death bands out there that - in my humble opinion - make really boring generic tracks, and the boredom is called atmospheric. This stuff seems to come out on top though. This album has a really good vibe to it, and the compositions take off on their own with no need for gimmicks - only musicians with a passion can do that. I love the instrumental intro - just brilliant.

Aside from the music being awesome the album cover art is just absolutely gorgeous.

Oh ok, now I'm wondering why this brilliant album hasn't got its just desserts! It deserves much MUCH more exposure. This is a prime example of the gems you come across while searching for great music...there's so much of it, a HUGE amount, out there and you unfortunately miss ones, BUT its really cool when you do come across a discovery like this, even this long after release!! I'm just pleased it eventually came my way. Well guys i have to say to you, this is a fucking brilliant masterpiece! Thanks so much for creating and uploading this gem 🤘
