I first listened to this album in 2020 and quickly fell in love. I listened to the entire album all in one go, there wasn't a single song I didn't like. Since then I've listened to this album hundreds of times; when I'm having a tough day, when I'm sad, when something stressful happens, when I'm angry...it's been a constant comfort to me throughout the years and I now consider Rivers of Nihil my favourite band. Thank you so much for giving me solace and peace of mind in some of the worst most stressful times in my life. I'm endlessly grateful.

I'm listening to this in the background, not fully paying attention, I also read some comments, and I came to this general meta-conclusion: whatever the genre, you cannot stay fresh unless you go a little prog. Prog became a synonym for having balls, thinking outside the box, prog transcends genres and reflects the artist's state of mind. Because everything standard has already been done to death, everybody needs to find a special something that makes them unique, something identity defining. In the days of old, only a few had the charisma and the spine to do it, but nowadays even record labels are on board, and it's great times!

"The band - now rounded out by guitarist Jon Topore and drummer Jared Klein - has delivered an album which is often just as punishing as its predecessors while assimilating ingredients from musical genres as varied as electronica, jazz, alternative, folk, and the golden age of Shrapnel Records. The resulting music is indescribably progressive, a multifaceted soundscape that goes beyond the wildest dreams of even the group's most ardent admirers."

Many albums have made an impression on me metal and non-metal when I first heard them. They weren't the band's first album, but were my first to hear them : Beach Boy's Little Deuce Coupe, The Who's Who's Next, Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind, Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss, Nirvana's Nevermind, MCR's Welcome to the Black Parade, Eluveitie's Slania, Gojira's Magma, Mechina's Progenitor, Amon Amarth's Versus the World to name a few. This one is up there. I can't stop listening to it. The blending of sounds, musicianship and sub-genres is absolutely sick. I can't wait to see them in Columbus on April 18th! Both of these albums were highly anticipated and my expectations were pretty high. Upon release and listening to the full album, they both completely blew my expectations out of the water.
