    I recently went through a tactical shooting course using my mini 14. All I was instructed to bring was reliable magazines. I went through the entire course without a single malfunction. Even when I accidentally got some mud in chamber. Now, the AR guys, they had a more interesting time. Stove pipes, mags falling apart. Trigger pins riding out causing the entire Trigger assembly to shit the bed. And for sure constant malfunctions when introduced to dirt. My second would be a 10-22 for the simple fact there are a thousand and one way to have it. You can literally make it anyway you want.

    Honestly i just picked up a mini 14 because i cant stand ar 15s. Everybody has one. Its so main stream and boring everybody has a glock and a ar 15. I like to be a bit different. Also if you put in 5 or 10 round mags, the gun is much more sleek and nimble for tight situations or wading through the trees and bushes, i personally have a folding stock model so its not quite the same as far as that but even so i just think its a better gun for survival. PLUS the ar 15 is a gun that needs maintenance. It has seals, it has springs that jeed replaced. It needs cleaned often or it wont run properly. Its a nightmare to dis assemble and re assemble if you dont have a flat clean surface to not lose any parts, a mini 14? Run it till you burn up the barrel pretty much. And even when you have to clean it. The gun breaks down into about 4-5 big parts depending on how much you take off. Great gun. Good enough for the battle field for me

    This is a very interesting subject. SHTF can come in many different ways. It will also affect people differently based on geographic location within the US. For me, I'm in between extremely rural areas, and a large city in Texas. In the city, my first thought obviously is self defense. In the rural areas, my first thought is hunting. With that being said, there are many different options. If I had only 2 choices, it would be an Ar15, and a 9mm carbine.

  • @quinntonb1626

    @quinntonb1626

    Жыл бұрын

    @@robertgoodrich8953 a PCC also allows u to carry only 1 ammo type for both a sidearm and a long gun, allows u too take longer shots than the handgun, and gives u a utilitarian cartridge that can be effectively used to harvest everything from rabbits to deer. Furthermore being “weak” means that u don’t have to worry as much about over penetration. 9mm is also the most popular ammo in the US, but hey what does that matter 🤷‍♂️ All guns have advantages and disadvantages it’s up to each person to decide what will work for them. Obviously I’m all for the PCCs but for some people they are impractical, unnecessary or even useless, it just depends on the person and their scenario

    @kevinhart46 bro said u want a shorty .223 😭😭 with a .22 conversion that costs more than a dedicated .22. Shit if ur gonna play the .22 game then get something that will run shorts, longs, and LR and something that will cycle snake shot at least cover all the bases. The only real advantage to .223 is ammo is everywhere. So if u wanna play that game then why not a .308? I mean the .308 defeats level 3a plates so why would u limit ur long gun to a .223 that only defeats level II plates? I literally said every situation is unique and so is every person and u came up in here like “NO EVERYONE NEEDS AN ARP THEY HAVE TO HAVE IT” like Brodie are u 12? I mean u clearly know everything.

    Dude, my picks are the exact opposite - mini 14 for the durability (which a few others here seem to agree with), and the 10/22 because I believe there are more of them out there. In my case, I have a dozen mags for each - no problem there. That being said, I'd probably go with something in 7.62x51 IF I were staying put.

I have ar10s one in DPMS-308 and in sig snakebite 716i but the m1a is probably the better choice if u have the time and money to set it up. Mags are about 50coin and tweaking it to shoot 300 to 500yrds but very doable. Thin ask yourself do you want to part with 1800coins and have at least 5 mags 50coins a pop heavy ammo at 20 to 37 coins at Walmart. Not trying to turn u off from getting one. Get one if you can. And get an ar10 you may have someone in the family that needs a boom stick. Both are good choicesu

    Marlin 39 would be cool but not because of use of different 22’s. I’ve not seen shorts or longs very often. LR is about it so that’s mostly what you’ll have. 10/22 would work as well. If you’re bugging in then light ammo is not a consideration, only when bugging out does it come into play. Two long arms, one for fighting, your choice. AR, AK, something else. One for food gathering, .22 or 12 gauge again your choice. Big game rifles. 30/30, 308, 30-06, etc. are probably nice to have but not necessary

    In a grid down SHTF bug out situation I do not find long guns practical, maybe because I live in a very large city but the volume and weight of ammo and mags for these type of guns seem heavy plus not even considering the things you would NEED to carry for survival. I believe I'd rather have 3 handguns combination that can share parts and magazines all in one caliber(9mm) and maybe a mck conversion to turn one of those sidearms into a pcc.

    Funny how people will always say you should get a AR15 for a SHTF rifle because ammo will be easy to get because lots of people own AR15's, I can remember many times when there was a ammo shortage every so often I couldn't find any 5.56 or 223 ammo at gun stores or on line if I did find any it was 1 dollar a round and in a doomsday scenario people would be hoarding their stockpiles of ammo even more than in normal times, but even when ammo was scarce I could always find 9mm ,so with that line of thinking my choice would be a 9mm carbine with a good optic for accurate shooting out to 100 yards where I think the majority of firefights would take place in urban warfare,

    Honestly a poor idea as 9mm preforms so poorly compared to a rifle round. Most engagements would likely be at short distances but you should still be able to shoot out further. 5.56 can be hard to find in a store during chaotic times due to people panic buying, but many people will have it and have the mags for it.

    tHE 22 IN WHICHEVER FORMAT YOU PREFER IS AN OBVIOUS CHOICE, IN ADDITION IN THE SAME METHOD OF RATIONAL ON THE AMMO CONVENIENCE AND PORTABILITY I CHOOSE A PC CARBINE BY RUGER IN 9MM, it gives you ease of carrying more ammo but more shooting poser than a 22 but it can be adopted to use Glock magazines and a sidearm, Glock 19 will be hanging on my belt or in my pocket so the versatility of a dual magazine use, the Model 19 Glock uses a 15 round mag but also can use the model 17's 17 round magazu=ine in it as well as the Ruger, in addition the Magazines for Glock compatibility comes in a 33 round mag as well so you have high capacity and the 9mm round in a carbine gives you more velosity so more penetration than from the pistol, in that same philosophy of use another choice is my Marlin 357 mag carbine along with my 357 revolver giving you dual use again in carbine and handgun, in addition the advantage of the 357 you also get dual cartridge use in using a 357 mag cartridge as well as a 38 special for use in both firearms, of course the 22 can be had in both as well as well as a 22 WMR , or as commonly called 22 Magnum, I have dual firearm use in all these, so the decisions are hard but a 12 gauge is a great choice in a long gun but only if sheltering down at home where ammo transport is not needed otherwise you need a cart to carry the weight of the ammo, but if your doing that then I am carrying multiple firearms in that cart along with multiple ammos, the AR 15 is a given as a choice of course, for sure the 22 and 9mm are coming as first two choices

    Let me help you out on the Mini 14 vs the AR15. I would go with the Mini 14 because it is more robust and durable. Just a simple fact about AR15's that I dont like, "they are made to brake." The reason I say they are "made to brake" is because they are made to be easily repaired. The only way a AR15 makes since is if you have support for it like our Military does, with an Armorer and a bunch of spare parts. Where as the Mini 14 is built like a brick shit house. And the magazine thing, what are you guys doing? Throwing away your magazines after every gun fight to go collect more? Why are you losing magazine to the point you need to find more? And why in the hell did you not have enough mags to start with lol? Need to really stop and question some of the crap you read on the internet. But my SHTF gun will be my Marlin 336 30-30. It's a good all around tough as ballz gun. Effective out to 300 yards, no one has ever question the stopping power of a 30-30, ammo is abundant, and does not need magazines. If you ever found yourself in a gun fight where you need hundred of rounds of ammo, fast mag changes, "high speed, low drag" situation, then you will more than likely end up dead. Best thing to be in a SHTF situation is to be a shadow.

  • @leverBoyluke

    @leverBoyluke

    Hey Huff I agree the Mini is the more durable gun and also needs a whole lot less maintenance than a AR. It’s really a tough choice, I definitely wouldn’t be throwing my mags away for the Mini, I need to buy more of them bc I only have a couple currently while I have at least 15 for my AR bc they so much cheaper to buy. I also like your 3030 choice bc I have 3 of them and just love the lever platform. I think if you just pick a gun you the most comfortable with then that’s right decision 👍🏻
