One thing a club member misses is playing multiple courses to test your game! I live in a golf community, some members I have played with said for 5 years they have not played elsewhere.

I know a few club members who have removed clubs from their bags because they never use them. I prefer to be tested throughout the bag. So play different tracks.

I’m a member of two clubs, and have played 55 rounds so far this year, at over 30 courses in 8 states and 1 other country :) On track to hit my goal of playing 100 new golf courses this year!

Golf has definitely been the silver lining this year for me, my brother father and myself are going once a week. And I'm finally to the point that I'm good enough to keep score. I love your mix of technique and fun videos, i tune in everyday!

Being a member of a golf club is great and its the groups with-in the club and all the new people to play with. I play at West Kilbride, Ayrshire, Scotland

Yes - you should join a club; my game has come on so much as I'm able to get out consistently. I also have met so many nice golfers who I can now play with through the club!

Definitely join a club it’s worth it for the practice facilities alone and access for 9 just to practice, I’m in a society as well to give me variance and a bit of a test on different courses to keep it fresh 👍👍 great as ever Alex

Just joined Erewash Valley is Derbyshire, for exactly the 3 reasons mentioned. We were spending £60 per week in some cases... great content on this channel

I've been playing for 2years and never joined and played about 60 games but generally try different courses but now looking to join local club as games have become a lot more expensive since lock down eased. Would be interested to see your 4 baller away trip at Close House 👍

You need to check how many months the course is open normally we have local courses that are closed due to water for 4 + months that makes a difference . Mine is always open all year ( apart from snow ) and you can play with anyone very welcoming and worth every penny

I have 8 high end daily fee courses within 45 minutes of my home. Different tracks with different games. That's my preference. I have played with club members who shoot 5 strokes higher away from their home course.

Joined a club in 2021 as my 2 kids started junior lessons. But balancing work and life it is mainly 9 hole rounds 2 hours. Location 10mins drive away. It is one of oldest club in Ireland ( found members of Golf Ireland in 1880 era). As you stressed yes play plenty and you will get value out of it cost is £7 round roughly. I do agree clubs could do a lot more, but so could the PGA, structure training programs, not just reactive coaching. RCA rules , Physiology, theory, course conduct etc.

I normally play with one mate of mine at his club one week and the next week I book a random club so get the best of both worlds

Clubs are essential for the game and members are an important part. Been a difficult year for clubs with members leaving or not paying subs because of Covid-19. Some of us have continued to pay our subs to keep the club solvent. Been at Leominster Golf Club since 1999 and don’t plan to go anywhere else. Play 2 or 3 times a week.

Great video guys. I was a member of North Wales golf club 1994 to 1999. Played as a member nearly every weekend. 3/5 rounds Friday to Sunday. Not played since 1999. But I'm thinking of joining a club to take my kids to introduce them to golf. Gone are the days were you can just whack balls on a playing field. To many triggered people around now. So I'm joining a club just for the summer to let my kids tag along. Its not a great course, but it's 10 minutes from home.

I have always toyed with idea of joining a club its the time and expense that puts me off have 3 kids and go play a local 9 hole course maybe twice a month but can't justify more time away than that. Maybe will join a club when kids are up a bit. Would like to see more course vlogs from you I enjoy youre vlogs.

im thinking of joining a golf club for the networking opportunities and also because its a sport I can get good at and is not physically demanding. I do the gym 5 times a week strength training so this is much easier. But that doesnt account for the skill side of it

Just started playing about 3 years ago at 52 yrs old. The club I joined has 3 different courses that I have unlimited access to. Can’t beat the price! Always a different course!

First some vlogs of you playing would be good. I joined a public course and it has been a mixed bag for me. I joined early in the year before COVID-19 and soon after I joined the course was shut down for a few months. I mostly play by myself just don’t have too many friends that play but I run into leagues and high school golf teams quite a lot. So that has been an issue. I like being able to play when I want after work and it hasn’t worked out so well at this course. So I think you have to look hard at the course you choose and make sure you will have access.

Love the video Alex. As for golf clubs... wow your prices are much better than here in my area. I typically pay $40-$65 USD per round. Memberships at my golf club are $5k (one time fee) plus $550 per month. Way too much for me. The next closest club is around $3,700 USD a year. That comes to about 6 rounds a month (even during the winter months and rainy season) to break even. But is still 20 minutes away. If my mates would join I would consider. But since they won’t... I am stuck with paying guest rates

Wow no way! That’s a lot!

It's an absolute no brainer for me. I'm at my club 13 out of 14 days a fortnight including competitions and practice. My club is 60% of the cost of the other two locally to me and it's easily the best course in the area. Founded in 1908 Eastbourne Downs Golf Club is a good club to learn how to play golf to the best of your ability.

@@neiltaylor1765 it's council run now and we have the privilege of having the greenskeeper/groundsmen from Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis venue that stages the pre Wimbledon tournament. They keep the course lovely. Probably worth another trip!

How does one get member referrals required for certain golf clubs? Is it possible to get a few just from meeting people playing as a visitor ?

I am a member at Letchworth Golf Club. My son has just joined as a junior member for £180 per annum. Outstanding value for junior members and the club support, coach and invest in the young guns to improve their game. It is also quality father and son time playing the beautiful game. Golf is a magnificent game and installs great life skills for the younger generation.

This is really good!

one of the cons of being a member is that you don't experience other courses so it can get redundant and boring. I also didn't take my rounds as seriously so I wouldn't score as well compared to when you "pay to play". if it was a membership to several courses it may be worth it.

It's great playing with your mates but a another reason for joining a club is the adrenaline rush of playing in club competitions - it gives you a buzz pitting your wits against a variety of people who become new friends - which must improve your game and lead to enjoying it even more.

I only started playing 3-4 months ago, it was getting expensive £13 for 9 holes. I joined a pay and play points and it reduced it to £7.07 for 9 holes and points don't expire till used. Next spring I'm going to join full membership. It's easier to just log on and book rather than phone and hope a slots free

I know I’m late to this but I’ve joined a municipal course and it’s been a very poor experience. I’m very wary of joining another without some thorough research

I wanna ask for all of golfers how much does it cost exactly for play golf one time in foreign i mean in the other Indonesia

It will make you a better player... I can't think of a single public course within 50 miles of me that has a proper practice area. The course isn't the place to be practicing bunker play.

Hey guys I joined a golf club near my area called Braemar CC. And I chose the club because they are apart of club corp, which allows me to play at over 200 clubs throughout North America. I literally only need to pay for the cart fee. I would say that if you live in the states then try to find a club that is apart of club corp. If anyone else has something similar let me know. Not a club member n a complete hack but my mate n I just pay the green fees ,respect the course n play every course we can😄

Interesting content on joining, think it votes to value, if your playing enough rounds to enjoy a good course a membership is well worth it. Good quality courses (Woburn, Wentworth, Royal Liverpool) as examples require a Handicap and a club membership offers you that opportunity

Most people must join alone.

What a daft question!, if you want Golf courses to play, not just municipal Golf courses, joins Club, because over the last four or five months they’ve lost a lot of money, and if they close, these courses might be sold for housing!🥺😎

Alex, this video fails to take account of some other fundamental issues around being a member of a club. First it depends if it’s a members club or a proprietary club., with the latter someone owns the club and they are in it to make a profit, but a members club is something entirely different. If you join a members club you are not paying to play golf. You are paying to be a stakeholder or shareholder in that club, you jointly own it along with all the other members. You actually get you golf for free. As a member you are entitled to member benefits which vary from club to club but include, discounts on food and beverage, signing guests in at a discount, getting deals on lessons, equipment etc from your pro. I like videos like this but tell the whole story, clubs are struggling enough as it is.

The local golf courses for me are all expensive. I`d have to play 6 rounds a week to justify the cost. I don`t have to much free time, I have a wife and two very young sons.

country clubs are a huge wast of money before people would join country clubs to find people to do business with ex know you have social media way will i wast my hard earned money on a country club i can find otther ways to get more business. like on social media and it wont cost me thousands of dollars

Many public courses do not allow singles; they will pair you with 3-4 other players, all of who typically know one another. This means you will spend the next 4-5 hours playing with complete strangers. Many times, those players are at different playing abilities; sometimes worse than you, sometimes better than you, depending on your own abilities. If you are a high handicap player, playing with a low handicap player, you will likely be intimidated, which is no fun. You will be nervous standing over every shot. You will play much worse than you normally play. You will become frustrated. You will become angry. And worst of all, you will be embarrassed. Definitely not what you had in mind when you planned an enjoyable afternoon playing golf. If you are a low handicap player playing with high handicap players, this too can be very frustrating. You are constantly having to wait on them. You are forced to endure bad shot after bad shot. You are constantly looking for their balls. You are constantly asked for advice on how to improve. You are forced to endure bad etiquette. All of these things take you out of your game, thereby making it a very frustrating afternoon. And the high handicap players likely are not taking the game as serious. Again, not what you had in mind when you planned an enjoyable afternoon playing golf. Either way, you end up going home, feeling you just wasted an afternoon, not to mention wasting all that money. Might have well just stayed at home, threw $100 down the garbage disposal, and listen to the wife bitch at you all afternoon. Pretty much the same outcome.
