Being supported by you is easier!
I watch you for improving my portraits
I've had my Q2 for 18 months and it's proved to be the perfect camera for me. At first the 28mm fixed lens was a challenge but over time my composition improved and now I couldn't imagine shooting with anything else. I've certainly no plans to upgrade, not even to a Q3!

Me neither!!! I just hope mine never breaks! I would be lost without it
Hi Paul, thank you very much! We are easy victims of the camera industry because they grab us by our emotions. It takes a lot of self-confidence not to fall for it. In fact, it's strange to think that the second-to-last model is inadequate as soon as the latest model comes out. A philosophical approach to photography seems more sensible to me than a technical one. And investments in us and our photography bring much more valuable results than permanent investments in equipment. After almost 7 years with an X-T2, my last purchase in 2022 was an actually completely unused FUJIFILM X-T3 with a full warranty. It will stay with me for a long time, and so will the satisfaction. Greetings from the streets of my hometown, Dirk (DT-Classics)

I used the XT 30 for a good while and got some shots I still love today!!! I still use and xe4 today for my colour stuff
Dear Paul, I finally sold all my digital equipment and bought the Q2M. I've only taken about 500 shots so far, but I quickly realized the power and flexibility of this prodigious tool. Now it's up to me to put in the effort to get some good shots now and then.

Thanks so much for watching the video
I shoot with Fuji XPro-3 and 35mm f2 (50mm equivalent). Using one focal length helps create continuity with one’s work. But I do admire the aesthetics and 28mm look of the Leica Q2M. Might have to upgrade one day.

@@paulreidphotography The hidden viewfinder definitely discourages chimping.
I think your point view is often forgotten in the KZread photography/ videography scene, because they make all these videos about switching from that to that and you should use this new camera, but especially nowadays cameras became soo good that you should really focus more on yourself and gain experiences to master the camera. I just got the Q2 about two month ago, because carrying my a7s3 for personal stuff was just to much and I really enjoy shooting with it an I realized how I get more and more comfortable with the 28mm focal length (and camera in general) over time.
Thank you Paul for this smart video again. Will sure consider your proposal as soon as I get some opportunity 😉

Amazing shots with the q2 Monochrom. I have the SL2-S and 3 Voigtlander lenses for manual focus because I just prefer the full manual experience.

@@paulreidphotography Yes + the B&W High Contrast 'film simulation' internal setting is amazing if you tweek it a little.
I have been using the Q system and at stages I always have a desire to get a 50mm or 70mm focal length system. Fortunately my brain kicks in and I realise that if I purchased an additional camera, most of the time it would be sitting in a cupboard gathering dust. The best pictures of my life have been taken with the Leica Q system and the only cameras I will purchase in the future will be from that system.

Yeah in fact the original Q is an amazing camera!! I could make that work for me if I didn’t have the Q2M
Good advice, I'm going to go to manual on my iPhone 11 camera before I decide what 'real camera to buy!

One of my most popular photos is taken with an iPhone!!
I've never understood the mindset of something that was fine for the photographer for some time suddenly being rendered as "obsolete" simply because the next model is released, usually with more megapixels that you have not missed before. There are many videos on KZread asking if camera X (fill in any 3 year old camera) is still valid in 2023. I'm still using a 15 year old Nikon D700 and a Fujifilm X-T2 and haven't been prevented from coming back with images that make me happy due to gear deficiencies. I can operate these cameras with my eyes closed and understand how they will render the scene in front of me. Boring for gear heads, but consistent for photography. Mastering the gear you already own will make you more effective than constantly changing gear and starting up a new learning curve over and over.

I just hope my Q2M lasts another good few years as I really don’t want to move to another
I used a Canon 5DMkII for nearly a decade. I loved it and only changed when it actually died. Now on a Sony but part of me still misses how well I knew that camera,

Love your vids, thanks for putting them together. I’d be interested in your opinion of the colour Q 2, or 3 compared to the Mono Q2. Is the Mono better than just converting the colour to Mono in post. It’s a big expense and I’m on the fence as to whether I should wait for a Q3 mono or get Q3 colour now(ish)

In my opinion the Q2M is still king. Thanks for watching the videos
Thanks Paul, a good reminder that I like the cameras that I have and buying one with more megapixels won’t make me a mega better photographer or help me get out the door a mega more times… it may however show my photo compositional flaws in a mega-big way…

Yes and with the digital developing tools available today we can make up for many of the loose ends of ‘older’ camera technology.
Wise words , I had enough kit years ago to start a six person wedding operation 🤣; I did a few weddings but it was not for me.Cheers - back to basics.

Nice one. Yes, agreed, love your camera, whatever it is, and the photographic skills will come much more quickly. A stack of great pictures there. That's Paternoster Row by the cathedral at 2:12 isn't it. Speaking as a London based Cumbrian (always) I recall going to the pub on the corner just behind your right shoulder in the late '70s. It was full of bikers and we were all dressed as mods just on the way to see Madness play in the Market Hall. It was fine, there was no trouble. The gig was fantastic though the preceedings were spoiled by one bunch of mods (from Egremont, not us) getting into a mass fight with a bunch of skinheads. Suggs was not happy, me neither. Great days though. Anyways, good video, cheers, look forward to your next one.

Amen 🙂One more thing for those addicted, like myself. If you can't stop GAS, then at least make a good use of it and sell your cameras that you don't use frequently anymore and leave one, the current love ;-)

We live in a world of CONSUMERISM, BUY BUY BUY. I agree with you here Paul, it is just like playing an instrument, which I myself do, everyone wants another horn but instead should use the money for lessons to get better, a new horn will NOT have you playing better, just like a newer camera won’t make you a better photographer. 👍🏼👍🏼. If I owned a Q2 I would not be looking to buy a Q3 that is for certain.
Got the silver edition sl2 today 😂
