I love these reviews. Its all about what you see as a fotographer. Its not the camera. Don't go shopping equipment - go shooting. Its that essy
Beautiful images and wonderful stories. These reviews are fantastic!
I love this video.Thanks
They're stunning pictures, Paul, wonderful to have you share them and tell their stories. Thank you!

Absolutely stunning … made smile when you opened with don’t chase the next camera … “Spend a year with the equipment you are using and get to know it …” I wonder how many, like me, by the end were thinking “… I need to get me one of them Leica Monochroms …” 😂😂 - Beautiful images Paul 📷

Paul ; I like Sophie's sweet smile too , so uncomplicated and grateful in life , so much we can learn from her joy and uncluttered outlook or innocence I suppose. Refreshing and timeless , and yes the shot with man and spanner's in his shop ... I love to photograph people too in their element as you get a deeper human interest and connection. Life is a treasure. Your girl is beautiful too lucky man You. 💪🏻

Hi Paul, it's exactly as you say. Constantly buying new equipment prevents you from concentrating on photography. When we're out and about and everything is going well, we should be able to forget about the camera and just focus on pure photography. How wonderful to receive a little more detailed information about your photographs. Absolutely breathtaking are No. 1, 4, + 9, what inspiring works of art! Have more of that sort of thing, and a good time... ;-)

Paul , I had indigestion and couldn't sleep. Btw my brother's life was saved by his cat Ginger . He was in a deep sleep and Ginger was going crazy to wake him up. He got up and went downstairs to find the kitchen on fire. Always pay attention to animals they have much stronger senses than humans .Regards to you and yours, from Jake E.
The image at 11:11 is a beautiful environmental portrait. Love it. Also at 12:33, good portraits.

Great stuff as usual Paul! The shot of the”innocent”looking lady under the bridge is incredibly filmic! If you’ve ever watched any Hitchcock you could possibly read that she could be the one up to no good? The rope that she appears to be carrying under her arm and clutching her phone and determined expression?? The “sinister” chap in the background could easily be a red herring!!?? Bravo!!

Thanks to you I am contemplating buying a monochrome camera... Not sure if it is praise or cursing 😂😂 keep on producing your videos and keep the same pace. So nice to see somebody taking their time instead of blasting out everything in 3 mins. Quick question: what is the most challenging thing about shooting blackand white only? Except for managing highlights and shadows 😂❤
@paulreidphotography
6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much!!! The most challenging thing is separation from subject to background. With only shades of grey, sometimes things blend together.

@@paulreidphotography oh thank you for the insight. I am still torn whether to go that route as I do find the B&W on my Ricoh g3x and Leica Q very good but B&W dedicated cameras fascinate me. Probably will rent a Leica Monochrome to shoot with it for a week. See how I enjoy reality :)
Hi paul,found your channel over Christmas and it made a nice surprise. When the 2nd photo came up here and before your narration came back on I thought you had slipped a Brassai in to make a point of some kind. I can't tell you how much of a compliment I consider that to be , but perhaps you know and agree. Liked and subbed. Best wishes to you and yours from, Jake E.

Thanks Paul! Wonderful photos. You should be proud! Thank you for sharing wonderful thoughts and tips! You talked about exposure, but can you comment on focus? Are you focusing primarily manually, or on the Q2 spot or multifield? Thanks. Geoff
@paulreidphotography

Thanks so much. So it really depends on what I’m shooting. For run and gun street I zone focus more than anything. For portraits at the distance I take them the eye and face detection works great. For images that are set up where I am waiting for someone to enter my scene I focus manually on where I believe the subject will be entering the frame.

Paul ; I would like to go to the Leica SL 2 / 3 as my main Mirrorless system from SONY , yet my " new " camera is a ROLLEI WIDE 55mm F4 with the DISTAGON Zeiss lens. I have one other TLR the 75mm 3.5 Bay One TESSAR in a D model , so I have shot that for 6 years , though limited. I love the 28mm Leica CL .. too. Do I sound like the every 6 month " change " type ?? 🤔

Ha haaaa! I just think getting to know a camera properly takes time. I have more than one camera so I do switch depending on what the shoot is. I also have more than one lens. I’m thinking along the lines of a carry everywhere camera and sticking to one thing for a while with that.
I might have missed it but are these all out of camera or is there some post work?

@@paulreidphotography Ta. The pics in this video blew my mind - sublime. I'll check later but if you're still near your keyboard... Do you have any videos showing how you do your edits?
If the foreground girl in the three person shot against the door had been looking at her phone too, it would have taken away from the image, distracted, been too cliché - this is, of course, just my opinion - but as it is, she draws the eye to the other two, instead of away. Sorry, I shouldn't butt in. It's just that sometimes the logical choice isn't the one that works best. But a lovely set of images as usual. Your work reminds me of my old black and white film days, going through a box of fibre paper to get that perfect print. Magic!
