it's so refreshing to see you review "real world" cars, which I'm sure your audience actually has a shot of owning one day. The reviews of exotics, ridiculously tuned and hyper cars that make up the majority of KZread content these days is tiresome. Keep up the good work Chief

Very good review. I have a 2012 tdi Quattro s line with 162000 on the clock. Still runs like new...... I’ve done 112k of those miles and can honestly say, the best car I’ve ever owned....... and I’ve owned many. As with all high mileage vehicles, the key to trouble free ownership is regular maintenance and halve the oil change gaps once the car hits 100k. I’m averaging 38mpg and using around 1 litre of quality oil per 5000 miles. Don’t rag them and they will do 300k.

Regarding the timing chain. Is this one of the Audi engines like the A5 where you have to take out the whole engine just to replace it? I've got the A4 Avant but always wanted one of these but put off by the stories of some Audi's costing £3-4k to change a timing chain

Well, wrong. Dynamic turn signals are available as standard only on cars with matrix/full LED headlights. If you have xenons/partially led in the front, you can upgrade the tail light to have dynamic signals. You cant activate dynamic on any facelifted A5, only with ECU "hacks" or aftermarket units. A6 has dynamic only on 2015+ models with full LED or matrix headlights. A4 has them only on the tail light on the B9. Most of the time it will be cheaper to get aftermarket units. Ive facelifted my B8 to B8.5 back and the front is still B8, because I find the B8.5 headlights to be ugly, and Ive got aftermarket dynamic tail lights for less than 500 Euros. And you just cant do anything on the stock LED b8.5 tail light, even though they look the same. You need another module and you need to modify the ECU. Yea you can activate a new menu, you can activate parking sensors animations in case you dont have them. you can activate foglight cornering or Bi Xenon cornering. You are right about activating software features, but thats not one of them.

I love using the indicators on mine cos they sweep. Maybe thats why audi fitted them from 66 regs onwards even to the cooking models to encourage the stereotypical driver? Didnt pay 1000 for mine cars secondhand anyway its got the auto dipping thing full beam on the front leds but I thought only the rears sweep/scroll whatever the term is. Did they not come on all b9 a4s even early 1.4 tfsi se or sport specs on 65 plates?

But putting it into new S versions of A7 is too much. On idle you can still hear it's a diesel. It still does not sound as goods as petrol under hard acceleration. Person buying such car, especially in sporty versions, should be able to afford fuel. If VW wants both torque, economy and low co2 emissions in their sport cars, they should have gone electric long time ago. Build a network of charging stations and introduce a lineup of electric cars more than decade ago. If very small Tesla was able to do it, Volkswagen could also, but they preferred to complain about hybrids and electrics 'not being ready for customer market'. The true reason is that they want to make profits on already researched diesel technology as long as possible. It's cheaper and would be understandable in Dacia car. But is it spirit of VORSPRUNG DURCH TECHNIK?

Buddy if you think diesels sound good, you need your hearing tested 😂 diesels sound god awful even very expensive models, sound like a metallic tractor engine, absolutely awful and thank god ULEZ will render a lot of them off the road. It's not just the noise, diesels are really shit to drive too, very limited power band range, 5,000 rpm max, nothing up to around 3,000 rpm, still nothing and then WOOSH, all the power comes in at one go and then you have change gear 😂 Petrol engines aren't like that

Lol at comparing sound with BMWs, that all have fake noises going through the speakers... Also, the guy above my comment clearly never driven one of those V6 diesel audis. I have one of those and rarely push beyond 3.000 RPM as the torque is already present much below that sort of rev range...

I have an A7, I love my car, the one issue I have is its size, it's quite wide compared to other cars and due to how long the front end is its quick scary going down smaller roads and I often have to slow down or completely stop because I know I'll either hit someone's car with my massive wing mirror or be in the dirt, I have actually hit someone's car with my wing mirror, it was there fault for being on my side of the road and they was in a tiny vehicle, their wing mirror fully broke and smashed off, my was left with a little scratch, completely functioning, Audi do build quality cars, I also have concerns about my EGR Valve and will probably take it off to clean it at some point within the coming months and give it a service, fuel economy is okay, it's a big car and it does pull, especially in sport mode, but doing so you'll quickly see how you've suddenly lost 10ltrs of distance on your total mileage😂 regardless, beautiful, fast, modern proof car.

Pure class, drives beautifully although I have to disagree with your comment about the 21inch Rotors, the ride quality is brilliant even on lesser roads. Not many on the road which makes you feel quite special and if you are considering a big car, don't hang about, these types of cars will be out of everyone's grasp if the climate lobby get they're way.

It has a 3.0 V6 diesel engine mapped to 310 hk, 665 nm, air suspension, 4 zone climate control and the full RS cabine with the diamond stiched leather seats. The trunk is huge and great to use because of the hatchback and length of it. You can fit a huge baby pram plus a lot of luggage in there. We also looked at an SQ5 but came to the conclusion that the A7 would be a better family car. Plus the car feels so much more premium compared to the SQ5. So far nothing has gone wrong and it’s just a great car, I would definitely recommend it!

@@saksmargus I ended up having the car for about 2,5 years. My car had the 3.0 V6 diesel with 245 hp stock and the 8 speed ZF gearbox. In the time I had it, nothing at all went wrong with it. It was a joy to own really. I just had the basic service stuff done at Audi, other than that, it never saw the inside of a workshop. I just recently sold it and bought an E-tron 55 instead. I would say though, if you are looking at buying a used A6/A7, make sure you get one with A LOT of optional extras on it! My car always felt like a special car to drive and spend time in, because of the really nice leather cabin, air suspension, etc. etc. I also once drove a super basic A7, and it honestly felt 90% like a larger VW Passat… So if you plan on getting an A7, get a nice one, otherwise I wouldn’t really bother with them :-)

I've always looked at the A7 as a completely pointless car in the Audi range (until they started adding more and more suv/crossover crap) however watching this video has changed my mind and it does have some unique features. I have an Audi A6 Avant with the 3.0tdi and it's a monster of an engine! Especially after a remap... 👍 Keep up the great work mate, your videos are awesome!

I've owned a 2013 model for just over a year now. 75k miles and no issues whatsoever. It's the bi-tdi version which I'd actually reccomend over the 272hp version on review here having driven both while looking for one to buy. That extra power (313bhb / 650nm) really does make it quite an exciting drive when you want it to be and it also comes with bigger brakes for extra stopping power which it definitely needs!

I have an A7 and love it. Its complete luxury and and can falter the car in anyway. I'd recommend getting a facelfit model as he says in the video but beware of the Black Editions as you lose some of the shiny silver interior to black glossy plastic. Also if you test drive one go into manual and check there's no noise particularly downshifting as the 3.0 tdi boxes are known for this issue. I had to get a recon box thankfully covered by warranty and mines was only 45k miles.

Well... After toying with buying a new car or saving for a ‘rainy day’ I obviously went out and bought a very similar A7. 3.0 V6 TDi Quattro on a 15 plate at 42k miles after seeing your review. Initially, absolutely LOVED it! I was hopeful that the German engineering wouldn’t let me down! Alas it’s currently an Audi ornament on my drive due to an engine cooling fault (awaiting repair) I’d be interested to know if anyone else has experienced this if they own this car or if I’ve just bought a lemon?!?! Having said that, I can’t wait for it to be fixed. As per your very astute review, it’s an awesome piece of kit, a genuine pleasure to drive and surprisingly cost effective to own and run, given the size of it. Thanks for your honest review, . Love the channel too!

I had one of these A7s for 5 years. It was a brilliant car to drive and always got loads of complements but the gear box and clutch went in it around 70k miles and that cost a lot of money to fix, apparently that’s a common fault with this model of Audi. Other things too cost a lot to fix on this car so definitely something to consider I.e tyres, breaks. It was great to drive plenary of power and I loved the Quattro, that gives you so much more confidence when driving in the rain. It’s a big car parking was a nightmare and could really do with having cameras to help. The boot space was also great the hatchback style and the back seats down is almost like a mini van.

I actually bought a 2015 facelift A7 a month ago, for just under £20k with amazingly only 29k miles on it. I still cannot believe how much car I've got for the price. My only gripe is that it's the front wheel drive model and it would have been nice if it was one of the Quattro ones.

My last car prior to the A7 was a 640d. Oh how I long for that car again! The A7 ride and engine are as smooth as silk but lack engagement. The 640d crashed through bumps but has a better sounding engine and tighter feel to it. Both are nice cars. BMW is the "drivers" car.
