stepped away from smash for over a year and started getting really into pro wrestling. trash talk is critical for getting people really involved in the shit going on in the game, at every level. idec if it's fabricated to any extent, smash players (who are lowkey getting bored enough to even watch) are probably foaming at the mouth for something to sink their teeth into. smash is a really tolerant and safe space for people of all backgrounds which is great, but I think that also makes us lose sight of the fact that places can be both competitive and accepting at the same time. competition breeds competition. if you're uncomfortable with any level of conflict, then you should say that outright if you are experiencing something in the moment. i think anyone, if asked, would stop screaming ab shit if they were just asked respectfully. unless it's some heinous shit, keep your ass off twitter and COMPETE in this shit. smash space is rly soft and it's no secret we let shit get too black and white. yell for the homies and be respectful if someone asks you not to do it in their ears. if you can't handle it, play wifi or learn how to compete better. this game is a spectacle and its our spectacle so let's make it lit. purrr

In my experience of late, individuals who subscribe to the modern progressive viewpoints, esp about gender/etc are some of the most delusional, immature, self-victimizing I've ever had the displeasure of working or interacting with. Getting kicked out of a space filled with them is probably a reward for you in the long run. People like that, *no matter their view points* (ie its a personality thing) will always hate and look for things to ruin, bc its in their nature but by their choice. Not all are by a longshot. But your hard pressed to find those that aren't. On the topic of your incessant virtue-signaling (hey, it gets likes/views, atleast), if I go to a smash tourney and have views that clash with the majority, such as on gender/sexuality/etc, but dont force them on others (or even really speak on them) but get pushed out anyway, bc those weak-minded individuals as noted above can't take trash talk let alone handle ppl disagreeing with them (even silently), then it violates the same principles you were touting yourself to be in favor of when it comes to respecting each other in the community. Best part? Its those same folks who drag the community down with toxicity, cancel culture, immaturity which you will then create content on as "smash drama". Just calling out the hypocrisy when I see it.

Live your life and do what you want, but I will just call you by your name if I ever associate with you. But will I get canceled for just speaking on what I believe like you are free to do? Obviously i wouldn't do it to a trans person's face unless they wanted to discuss it, but am I welcome in the smash community if I don't believe men can get pregnant, and never will? L takes on Mekk and Hax. Mekk's own TO said that Mekk was always cordial in person. Banning people for opinions they have outside of a tournament setting is some surveillance state bullshit. Especially when you consider that people went into the MM discord looking for dirt, it is pretty clear that too many people in this scene are preoccupied with policing other people's viewpoints as opposed to actually playing the game. As for Hax, the dude stopped talking about Leffen for 2 years, but TOs kept him hanging in limbo. There's ample evidence out there documenting Leffen's shitty behavior. The Melee community is clearly giving Leffen a pass for things that other players would've been banned for.

I agree that everyone should be respected. Period. I also think people are being banned for next to nothing. 2 sides: I believe you’re gender is fluid and you are what you decide each day, and I believe you are what you’re biologically born as (and ideally but not always, I will respect you regardless)”. If you believe the second you aren’t just “full of hate” automatically, even if you’re a little strong on it. But people that believe different things need to be able to coexist, understand each others stance and respect each other in general. It’s ok to disagree even on big topics, bans shouldn’t be political. In my humble opinion. Gender fluidity and spectrum always made sense to me. Having a staunch stance on biological evidence, it’s not absurd and automatically hateful. People are allowed to not agree on things. The book 1984 is a great book about a world where people aren’t allowed to disagree.
