Should We Cancel The World?

In this video we explore the damage ‘cancel culture’ is doing at both a societal and individual level and some of the deep inner issues that may be igniting the outer culture war. Just how far will cancel culture go? Will we be expected to denounce everything of the past for being wrong? How can we undo the hatred that has boiled up in people over this culture war? Perhaps when all have been held equally accountable and we ‘cancel the world,’ individuality can return.

Welcome everyone, thanks for checking out the video. This is by far my biggest most ambitious project yet. There’s still a lot of stuff to learn with this KZread thing, and I want to make good videos that are well worth watching, so let me know your thoughts? I was going for a calmer delivery overall, but let me know if you think it sounds too monotonous. If so, I might do another take and reupload. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you, this video was a great summary of a lot of things that were bugging me for a long time now. I think the most damaging thing in "modern culture" is that we don't take the time to inform ourselves. We watch TikTok videos and read 5-word headlines, and that's all we need to form an unshakable opinion on complicated issues, helped by search engines that herd us into an echochamber. It's hard to guard against, even if you know that it's happening. I sometimes feel that I need a serious detox from electronics, so that I can see the real world with my own eyes again and form my own thoughts.

I think a detox from electronics from time to time would do us all some good.

@@lowtemperaturehands Agreed. I’m looking to ditch my smartphone at the earliest opportunity to cut down on dependence.

@@NeinBreaker I’ve heard of more and more people doing that these days. Though they can be so useful at times, so often we become slaves to our own phones and I’m just as guilty too!

Thanks for the great content again! I liked the calm delivery too. As for the topic, I didn't 100% agreed with your approach, but I still enjoyed the video. Hope you will make more vids of this genre!

Much appreciated! I have a ton of ideas for videos similar to this, so there will be something eventually.

Cancel Culture reminds me of René Girard's work in anthropology that talks about "scapegoating" as a religious rite to maintain group cohesion.
