James O'Brien 'tired' of Nigel Farage's 'racist dog-whistling' | LBC

As Nigel Farage accuses Rishi Sunak of 'not caring about Britain's culture', following the Prime Minister's decision to leave D-Day commemorations early, James O'Brien discusses the Reform UK leader's 'sly' comments.
'As a somewhat tired student of Nigel Farage's tactics, you could predict the racist "dog whistle" would be deployed,' James stresses.
Farage told the BBC on Sunday the PM's action showed he was 'disconnected by class and privilege' from ordinary people.
However, Sunak has apologised profusely for his D-Day blunder and stressed he will 'carry on fighting' to win the election.

The fact the he helped his father in-laws business get 1.5bn license with BP, his wife having shares in his "childcare" scheme, his wife collecting furlough, his wife not paying taxes because of the non-dom status, the New Dehli/India trade deal. A video popped up on my Facebook feed over the weekend. It was of British paras having their passports stamped by French officials after taking part in a reenactment of the D-Day parachute drop. The reaction from Fartrage fans and other Brexit supporters was astounding. They were absolutely frothing at the mouth with outrage at the French and utterly blind to the fact that this was a direct consequence of the Brexit they had demanded. They are so obsessed with their own opinions that they are totally blind to the fact that borders with another country are shared with that country and they can do whatever they want with it

They have lived in England for many decades. They have English born children and grandchildren. Both British and European Union citizens didn't like the answers. Eventually, they just explained that the whole of the island of Ireland was in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Their parents were born as British subjects, same as mine.

Some people push civic nationalism and pretend you can be just like the natives by getting a passport, which of course is nonsense. Redefining British to mean citizenship is nothing more than a totalitarian opinion. Non English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish people are 0% British in any real sense of the word. If you pretend Britishness is a passport then anybody who obtains one 5 minutes ago is apparently just as British which makes zero sense. Being British was never the same as something like being American etc. You cant be British unless you come from English, Scottish, Welsh and/ or Irish background. Civic identities are bogus, even in the case of the USA where the definition of being American changes state by state.

He definitely needs to hear and think about the other side to this and the experience of contradiction and double-standards linked multiculturalism and now this critical race theory. It’s the ideas that are bad, not the people because I genuinely see both sides on this and feel it’s a growing pain for us as a nation. James, you're cornering yourself by asking what the difference is between Tice and Sunak with only color being the implied answer. The difference to me is Sunak is not on board with Nigel's agenda and Tice obviously is. I don't think Nigel would care what color the PM was if they are in his way. It's base emotions that all others are built on. His anger dressed up in jealousy of Rishi's accomplishments and the lack of his own is the foundation of Nigel's motivations here. Always remember that racism is a projection of fear and anger. It isn't a base emotion. You can read a person better if you traverse the acts back to these base emotions.

Remember the Brexit distinction between somewhere people and anywhere people. Sunak is clearly an anywhere person with his wealth and American connections. That alone puts him out of step with the party of Brexit and is enough grounds for these accusations. On a lighter level in the changing room of my local gym, I was told that my mildly expressed remainer views were treasonous and put my Britishness in question. And yes my brother with his Cambridge first was advised by the University against joining the Foreign Office because his father was born in Berlin. Just as I wrote that, you said "You can't integrate enough". As it happens I am white. I agree the question of colour lurks behind Farage's statements.
