great. its a two party system. Voting for anything else in a primary is pointless. The last time someone even got a decent third party showing was Ross Perot in 92. He didnt break 5%. The rules changes after that. The place to exercise your vote is in state primaries. You could try pushing for first past the post voting, but the only people who ever back taht are democrats.

I think if democracy were ACTUALLY on the line, he would've dropped the whole political theatre roleplay act long ago and went the full executive legal route from the start. I too was ignorant of the Israel-Palestine situation before Oct. 7. Knowing Israel's brutality, I am solidly pro Palestinian. I am appalled that our governments have long supported Israel. I hope that will change someday. I too am outraged and disgusted by Biden's behavior. But I'm not allowing that to blind me to the disaster that would be Trump. Voting Biden does not mean I support him. It means I know how much worse things would be for America and Palestine if Trump won.

The last time I checked Biden is not the Prime Minister of Isreal. Everyone including Biden has acknowledged that Israel overreacted. most commenters here may not like what I'm going to say, has any of you commented on Hamas's role in any of what has happened in the last 6 months? It's very easy to blame Biden but I can tell you this for free, even if the president is Prof. West or Jill Stein I can promise you that the support for Israel will be the same. Pres. Mr Hammoud reflects my thinking perfectly. I supported Bernie, Trump won. I extremely begrudgingly voted Biden to prevent a 2nd Trump term, but I will not just continue to vote for the only candidate the DNC allows me to vote for. It isn’t just a matter of Trump or Biden. It’s Trump who doesn’t believe in democracy, or Biden who also doesn’t believe in democracy. Biden could have had my vote if he wasn’t complicit in a genocide, or perhaps if there had been any semblance of a democratic primary, but I won’t support one fascist over another because one is marginally worse. If Trump wins, it will be Biden’s fault, and it’ll be a hard 4 years, and many more to fix things, but a rebuke to the democrat establishment means that in 4 years we actually get a chance for change. I’m genuinely starting to see Trump as the lesser evil long term, or at least close enough to not matter, because he can mobilize opposition in a way that opens the door for change much sooner than languishing under the DNC brand of authoritarianism.

I'm 62, white, and Irish-/Catholic raised. I have been struggling with this issue for months now. Of course I will NEVER vote for Trump, but at this point there is no way that I will vote for Biden either. I just can't. It would make me sick and ashamed (as he has also made me ashamed of being American) to do so--like voting for a serial killer (hmm--Bundy or Dahmer...). I will vote "Uncommitted" on my Primary ballot, but in reality it's too late. Biden could have ended this months, and 10's of thousands of lives, ago--he had that power, and he refused to use it. Even if he insisted on a cease-fire and stopped funding Israel's so-called "war" today, it's still too much suffering and too many bodies under the bridge (and rubble). For as disappointing as Biden has been at least he is working on a cease fire deal and telling Bibi to stop his tactics (yes I know he needs to add conditions) and he is pushing for Gaza aid and a 2 state solution. Trump is literally like having Bibi as an American president. He would tell Bibi to finish off Gaza, no aid, no push for a cease fire etc. Plus, Bibi literally wants Trump to win. Maybe you should think about why he wants that. There are still 1.9 million women and children alive in Gaza. Biden’s message is preventing Bibi from just bombing everyone. Those people still alive would be in more jeopardy if Trump wins. Plus, Trump said he wants to bring back the Muslim ban in the US. He literally said he wants to revoke Palestinian citizenships. Muslims would be treated worse if they are looked at as second class citizens “by law” in the us. Muslim kids will get bullied in school etc. They are not the same. I know we are disappointed in Biden but things will get worse with Trump.

Who’s the alternative? I’m as disgusted by his support for Israel’s genocide as anyone. But what’s the alternative? A guy who will destroy this democracy for good this time, will rule by executive fiat, and a wannabe dictator? I'm not a young liberal nor muslim. I'm a 48 yo Puerto Rican, and am also uncommitted. I'm on the side of the mayor (I also voted for Bernie then supported Biden)... If the status quo is the "BEST" option & Biden is currently doing his "BEST" then screw this idea that he is any better or any more moral. It is literally the choice between two horrible evils. By the time Biden lets Bibi finish his "moral mission" with his most "moral army" I fear there won't be one Palestinian on foot in Gaza at the rate we are going. A Biden win under the status quo will only serve to embolden an administration and establishment to think... "Our policy has worked and is the correct one!" Where only media talking heads will be opining the contrary and by then no one will give a shit about it or the protest segment of democratic voters bc the election will be over and the establishment class is back on their thrones. Wash, rinse, repeat! That would be the worst message that can be sent to this administration even more so when you can't even trust the media to do that work. As a POC whose grandparents were hosed off streets and violently attacked by law enforcement for protesting during the civil rights movements against racist draconian policies under this "liberal democracy" I believe sometimes uprising is required even at the appearance of "things are going to get worse". The end goal of liberation is the north star not the multitude of other distractions along the road. That was cemented into me. What do you do when the forest gets too dense and bushy... Sometimes you have to set it on fire.

Why do these discussions never bring up that some of us live in states where our vote for President has zero effect on the outcome of the election? Or that even if you won’t vote for the Democrat or Republican, it still matters if you vote. Part of the reason the Uncommitted campaign got attention is because people actually went out and voted “uncommitted” instead of just staying home.

This only makes sense if everyone had to vote, which would mean not voting for Biden would mean only voting for Trump resulting in not only -1 vote for Biden but also +1 for Trump. Essentially a 2 point swing. Given there is a 3rd option of not voting for either, deciding to not vote is only half as impactful as voting for Trump would be. While it clearly unintentionally benefits Trump, don't think anyone can argue with that, it's also clear it's only half as impactful on the overall outcome as voting for Trump would've been.
