Cpus come locked or unlocked from the manufacturer. So if i buy a locked cpu i should immediately upgrade? Even if your cpu stays at 100 percent usage it shouldn't be overheating. If it is that's more indicative of a cooling issue. Also, in a bottle neck the underutilized component doesnt find it hard to handle all of the power from the component that is maxed. The maxed component is working overtime trying to keep up and is the bottleneck.

There are a ton of practical ways to actually test this in games. I am surprised you offered none of those tests. Even so much as a simple CPU and GPU usage program to display these values while you play. Not sure this video really helped anyone.

Which one should I upgrade first? My Ryzen 5 5500 only supports up to PCI 3.0 but I have been using my 1070 GTX since 2017. I have Gen4 SSD which is limited by my CPU unless I upgrade it. However, my GPU is already 6 years old even though it is still running pretty well. The CPU and GPU I am looking at are currently on a discount promotion. Only have enough cash to upgrade either one first. Appreciate your helpful replies.

I'm really in a fix. I have a R3-1200 with a RX570. What should I do? APU? I'm on an ASUS Prime-A 370 motherboard. Most of the money went into the case, motherboard, and power supply. And then I cheaped out on the CPU/GPU tandem. Before that I was sitting on a Phenom II-940/Radeon HD4500. So it's been awhile. Believe it or not, I'm satisfied at 720. I can't see the details any better anyway.🤣

hello im trying to build a pc and my budget is around £1500. I want the h6 flow case (£100) , b650 aorus elite ax mother board ( £200), corsair rm750 psu (£110) , 16 gb ram kingstun fury beast ( £66), crucial p3 1 tb storage (£69), phantom spirit 120SE cooler (£33). They were my budget choices other than the case so i could spend as much on the cpu and gpu for performance. I play all competative games such as valorant, csgo, fortnite, roblox which ik are mostly cpu intensive games so im left with some choices to fill my bufget. can you please advise best or if u want to make any changes. I would love to hear your opinion. I have a 144hz monitor 1440p 27". 1) r7 7800 x3d + rtx 4070. Since i play lots of cpu intensive games i want to spend as much as possible and get a reliable good cpu which will last me a long time. additionally the rtx 4070 is good gpu overall which works good at 1440p. and im also worrying about bottle neck issues. 2) r5 7600(x if cheaper) + rtz 4070 super. ive dones some research and apparently 1440p is less cpu intensive but my only worry is that if im playing cpu intensive games, would this work worse than option 1?. however the jump in performance and vram between 4070 and super versions is quite high. and the 4070 super is a very good 1440p graphics card. If you have any other combinations that you think will work better please let me know.

If you plan on changing to AMD CPU or 12th gen or higher intel CPU then you will for sure need a new motherboard and possibly RAM. Dude I'm sorry, but some of this is just plain wrong. If your gpu is the bottleneck, your cpu is being underutilized, and will not be "overheating". Also if your cpu is overheating it might just be time for better cooling. As a rule of thumb I would use. When turning down graphics settings/resolution still doesn't help your framerate, you need a faster cpu to process the things going on in the game. If turning graphics settings down does improve framerate, but the visuals aren't up to par, you need a better gpu. A cpu, for the most part is not affected

  • @aboveaveragebayleaf9216

That isn't how bottlenecks work really, they dont use all of their power and cause the other to not be able to handle that power. What happens is they wont use all their power, because the weak link cant match it's power. If you're getting 100% CPU utilisation and only 50% GPU utilisation, then the GPU is being bottlenecked

You're speaking in too general of terms. Cores and clocks are relative to IPC (Instructions per clock.) The way you're phrasing things, an FX 9550 is an 8-core, 5 GHz Processor, it should be amazing. But it's hot garbage, no pun intended. Great video, I just thought some of what you were saying might give some people the wrong information. Also, a 2060 is just as good as a 4090 on an FX 9550 8-core 5Ghz Processor. It's all relative. The answer to your question is always, "It depends."
