**For new hair wearers**.....if you have a lace front and use adhesive and not tape, although strong, a few things can happen. 1) you will need to replace your lace front or system more often, it won't last as long! Repeated cleaning of adhesive off the lace will break the lace down quicker....fine if you have the $$$ to spend I guess! 2) if your body chemistry is such, that you perspire heavily, etc., the adhesive can break up into little flakes and show through the front lace hairline, especially on exposed or brush-back styles and when you go to clean the flakes, etc., the lace also gets worn quicker. A good solution is to get a lace system with poly or skin border and use adhesive on border and tape on the lace crown (cooler to wear) and the lace front. If front loosens or you want to do a touch-up on front lace, just get a release agent in a dabber, not a spray, as a spray bottle can get on areas you do not intend to remove or loosen. Then, "gently dab front", wait a minute or so, and lift gently back and you can pick-off the tape residue. Clean the exposed skin with a scalp scrub product or Dawn dish soap, rinse and dry well, then you can apply a "no sweat" product, wait for it to dry, and re-apply frontal tape. The rise or lift that is mentioned in the video clip, between the lace edge and skin is very undetectable to the eye....unless "you" are looking for it. If you maintain your hair well, folks will never see it. If it gets a tiny bit loose, etc., ...press and hold, a light blow drying will do and your good to go. Anyway, just a suggestion based on a guy's experience who works around people and in the public eye. Doing it yourself is great, but also having great hair tech folks to work with is a valuable asset. If you have chosen to wear a hair prosthetic system, you might as well do it right! Always have an extra system or two, way better bang for your buck and they will last much longer. Remember, the days of the so called, "wigs" are gone. Today's products are far from it, you get what you pay for!.........Good luck!!!

Thank you for the amazing tips. I've been wearing my systems with poly perimeter and front lace with glued hairline and today I tried out taping the hairline due to a lack of time to go all the way with glue.. And I must say I'm quite surprised how quick and easy it was to install, also it's undetectable as you said. Hope it doesn't screw up the lace when it's time to clean it.

Very informative videos! I’m almost ready to take the leap, and your channel has helped greatly. Quick question: do you still use tape with a thin skin system or was that just for a one-time experiment? I really like your method of taping the sides and back and bonding the front, but I wasn’t sure if you are currently doing that with a lace system or if it can be done successfully without damage to a poly thin skin system.

Just a question for lace. My Hairstylist puts the walkers Sensi-Tak all around and then the front she puts another layer of Extenda-Bond Tape. She said for the front it will hold it better. The back and sides has plastic so just the front is the lace. What do you think, can I get away with just Sensi-tak or any other tape for that matter? After a week I notice that the front becomes a bit sticky and I have to clean it, since it has been hot here.

I'm taping the hairline at the moment with an exposed hairline. You just got be very careful and perfect with the application, and use tape that is damn near invisible such as lace front tape. I can only really see the tape if i'm staring at my hairline point blank in the mirror, which means aint nobody gonna see it!

Hey Curtis, I have been watching your videos for the last month now. I never leave comments on videos but I think it's important for me to mention that your content has been very helpful to me. I never tried a hair system before but I feel like I know so much about it, thanks to you. I really want to try the hair system but there are two things stopping me. One is having the guts to actually go threw it (I'm 27 years old and I have a decent amount of hair but my issue is that it's thinning and paranoid to shave off my bio hair). My second issue is the cost of the hair system. I live in Montreal and the only salon we have here is operated by a stylist with 25 years of experience. He is charging me 900 Canadian dollars plus tax for the system and the installation. You have mentioned to go to a salon for a first hair system, before trying to do it alone. On top of the price, he charges 180$ for his glue! To justify his prices, he told me that he only uses the best glue and the best hair piece (no hair piece made in China). He says the system can last anywhere from 4 to 8 months, depending on how well I'd be taking care of it. I feel like I'm in a tough spot here. I hate my thinning hair but at the same time I don't want to be dropping 2000-3000$ a year. Furthermore, it's not like I can go visit another salon, because thee aren't any. What would you do in my position? Any response would be helpful. *Sorry for my long message and keep up the good work!

And when that tape makes that"lift"it creates a shadow under your hairline plus in time dust and debris sticks to it and shows :[

John rizzo I concur. Tape is good at the back and sides but definitely glue the front. The front part of the forehead frequently moves which makes it more vulnerable to loosening, that said, glue is the best option.

Ankit Chauhan hey. Go to a clear bond. That will help a ton. It will NOT turn white at all !!

Thanks But you have said in ur video that it is difficult to clean clear bond from a lace Also how do I prevent the hair coming out from behind the lace (hair from lace comes to the scalp side)

Hey yes, ive said that clear bond is a little harder to clean up than white bond. As for the hair coming from the back side of the lace, ive seen this before but honestly never had it happen to me so I dont have a answer for that. Could be the unit, where did it come from
