Very interesting video. Well-shot (pun intended) - you let your viewer experience everything but the recoil! I rode with a 37, issued and personal, for many years. Please note that one can, indeed, directly load the chamber, circumventing the magazine: with the slide back and the shotgun inverted (in normal reloading position), either place a shell on the lifter, or push the shell and the lifter all the way into the receiver (until it bottoms out), then close the action. The shell is fed directly into the receiver, and the gun remains in the reload position to begin charging the mag. Might save a second... Again, thanks for the video.

Great shooting. With a little practice you can load up to 4 shells at a time in the Ithaca - hold two rows of two parallel in your hand

Great footage, this is giving me hope my Mossberg 500 can actually let me complete High Desert. What load were you shooting for those steel? Also, what carriers were you using?

You should try a Daewoo USAS-12 and Remington 105 Cti II.

Did you use the same ammo for a direct comparison from the Halloween match? Also I can't remember, are you loading from a competition style shell holder or dump pouch? If/when I make it to another shotgun match there, I really need to work on my reloads as they were completely horrible, but from the small dump pouch I was using, the shells are in all different directions and I don't know if I'd be able to hold a couple/few like you were and feed them in. I didn't even think of it as an option, and wish I had so I could have tried. I'll just have to try and make another trip to try. I'd also like to get a shorter stock for my 590 if they make them (hopefully) as it felt like it was just a tad too long to be be comfortable (that's what she said!) Also some time of rear sight or sighting system beside the bead would be nice. I always thought sights on a shotgun were dumb until that match...it's harder sometimes to hit shit than you would think with a shotgun! Good shooting though, it looked real smooth!

Orion Evans I used Winchester AA for this match. The federal bulk pack was causing problems in a number of guns, it was just worse in the Ithaca with the goober in the chamber. I’m using California comp work caddies attached to my chest rig here.

SinistralRifleman the federal ran in my 590, correct? (Mine was the one you used for a stage) just wanted to see if you ran it after the updates to the Ithaca to make sure it feeds everything reliably. Or I guess you could just tell your uncle to not run the federal bulk pack and be squared away as well. Ok, I might have to get one or two caddies, just to have some shells lined up when loading. Any tips for loading from a semi small dump pouch until I get something else? Cause my fat hand barely fit in the dump pouch I have and my loading was slower than a picture heavy forum post on a 56k dial up modem!

Orion Evans it worked in your Mossberg but not my 590M, and other shooters had problems with it too. But the Ithaca had it the worst with the goober in the chamber

So, if I understand the rules correctly my Vang Comp 590 is acceptable? Sweet, I will need to look into when the next shotgun match is. I don't use mine much, except for basic range time. Sweet Ithaca!

A gunsmith installed them 25 years ago. The receiver was drilled and tapped and the front sight soldered on.

She defended her honor well.

Fantastic run! I feel your pain with the small loading port. I run a single side saddle on my Moss 500, and find loading them into it with the rounds upside down, I can flip the gun over, rest the butt on top of my shoulder, and singly pull them out, dropping them into the port and stuffing them home fairly quickly. After that six rounds, however, all bets are off, lol!

Do you think the 870 or the 37 would be better overall? I’m honestly debating between these two as I’m not that much of a fan of my dad’s 590 and I want something different (rebellious children I know lol)

NegativeJam 870. Ithaca 37s are not nearly as commonly available or supported by the aftermarket for accessories.

How does this 2019 Ithaca shotgun compare to earlier, pre-1975, Model 37 guns? Does the trigger go dead if you fail to release the trigger before pumping?

What specific shell holders do you use? Ones that I found were too wide for the ithaca and I felt it didn't look right. The ones you use look like they sit flush and don't have any overhang on the top or bottom.

They were custom made by 3 Gun Gear 15 years ago. They’re no longer in business

Curious what sights you're using. Was your ithaca already drilled and tapped?

Asian_Sensation_ 69 gets light strikes

Are you allowed to aim between the targets on plate rack to get 2 at a time, or is it 1 at a time? You did get a couple doubles on the poppers.
