Love these commentators. Nowadays it seems all too cluttered with people showing all engine lines and variations. The originality of chess is dipping

Yeah, I like how they comment the actual game and not mess it up with neverending alternative lines.

Nice calm explannations back in those days. Nowadays in KZread it's all too fast and messed up.

Was the e pawn not hanging for the first few moves?

1:45 Those up on Najdorf theory in the 90's knew that 10. Bg5! is stronger here, as 10...Qxd4 is answered well by 11.e5 - white either get a great attack on the e file with black's king being delayed in the centre, or at least win an exchange by trapping the a8 rook. The queen's rook will instead defend the knight from d1 when required. Very, very complicated though, so you wouldn't try it in classical game unless thoroughly prepared - although maybe worth a try in the rapidplay games. I wonder if Kasparov had studied the lines and what his reply would have been? We'll never know :-(

+Nick P If Bh6, then I suppose Kasparov would have played Ne8, defending the weak g7 square. Hope this helped!

8:00 Why doesnt white play bh6. Threatening mate, winning rock when protecting with g7?

Nh5 and White would eventually lose the bishop, for example after Qg4 and Ndf6 and Black is winning
