Great series of videos. It takes me back to my teenage years of messing around with A series engines. I bought and read every page of Dave Vizard's "Tuning the A-Series Engine" - it still has pride of place on my bookshelf! Watching this video, it looks like you might still have fuel pump issues as that filter bowl didn't fill up at all while the engine was running.

You have a very laid-back, logical, systematic way of finding and solving problems Steve. Working on cars, especially modified, old cars, can be pretty stressful and can sometimes even make for stressful viewing. That doesn't seem to happen when you're wrenching and the whole process becomes quite therapeutic.👍👌😁 The Sprite is looking, and sounding, fantastic ~ great job so far.

My worry would be the rear end, having owned a Morris Major some years ago and breaking rear axles as the back end appeared to be Morris Minor, the parts man told me that the part number was different to that of the Minor but I have my doubts. The Majpr,Lancer and Wolseley variants were all based on the Minor platform. The body may be too narrow to put in an MGB Rear end.

That's a lot of oil pressure at cranking speed. Is the pressure relief actually working? Not unknown for them to stick on A series engines. Edit - I see it settled down once it ran, probably was stuck initially.

My thought too! Although maybe the sprite one is different. Anyway, knowing about chokes just shows our age. Despite being able to drive, my children had no idea about chokes; which made their attempts to start the lawnmower interesting, especially when dad came along and stated it first pull of the cord!
