update 7/12: We have seen ahhh her 😏 walking to the store twice so far, big ole open top bag at her side. Weirdly enough, she avoids walking by the store during business hours and takes the longer way to get groceries, which I’m sure are all being paid for 🙄 So, I’ve alerted the grocery store & they are watching now too 😂

@@commonsensor3716 all retail neighborhood businesses have been notified since the incident, the short video was also seen on our local NextDoor app with 7k views (and several people have said they saw them walking that day) Their opportunities have been significantly narrowed :)

That is so crazy that the cops made the comment that you had to know their name and date of birth in order to be able to file charges. Unbelievable do you have it on video and that’s the only thing that should be important guarantee you if this was the bank down the street they would’ve went after the people and picked them up. They didn’t even send anybody out to go look for them. The three of them just stood around in your shop and they didn’t even go and see if they could find them or anything, that is crazy. Well, if you want your things stolen come to Jackson Mississippi because that’s where you can go and have a business and the police allow you to get things stolen from you. Unbelievable. Maybe they need to look at this coverage😂😂😂

A small but very popular liquor store where I grew up had a "Wall Of Shame" where everyone they caught shoplifting was posted. It was great because it was near the university, so they often ended up catching the theives because someone would report them 😂 sounds like these ummm "women"(?) need their own spot on the wall here.

At least TPD doesn't pretend they're going to do something and then pull the "we need their names and DOB to file a report" nonsense... Wow! That is crazy. I’ve officially seen it all. I can tell that Kim senses that something is amiss. It makes me so incredibly angry when folks steal from mom and pop shops, in particular.

Stealing from people is horrible stealing from a locksmith is even worse and very stupid stealing from a locksmith is the stupidest thing that people would do im gonna be a locksmith sometime in the future so i know what to look out for

It would be an infringement of their constitutional rights to ask that all customers relinquish their name and DOB after entering your store. I mean, wasn't that what the officer said you needed? They need to go get some judicial training. You two take care and be careful. P.S. she still a dude!

Normally, stores will ask for that info to tresspass them. Rarely does a store call the police WITHOUT that info... It looks to be a mom/pop shop from the set-up of the store..

It's not typical for stores to ask for name and DOB and it's not even required for trespass unless they are being charged with trespass after warning and the police are the ones that get the info when they arrest the person. No one is under any obligation to give a store their info even if they are told they are trespassed.

Usually shoplifters will be quite chatty with store clerks. Usually to cause a distraction for a partner who is in the process of lifting items. Also, if you walk up on them or they know they are being watched, they will start asking dumb/random questions because they think they can somehow get you to forget what you just saw LOL

that’s a whole somewhat unusual thing now for our area, basically a few years ago Capitol police expanded their force into what called CCID (Capitol Complex Improvement District) which vaulted them from govt security into a full blown police due to lacking city police. They now have jurisdiction over our area & is who we call for service and are gradually expanding over the whole city.

Its Crappy you good folks needed to go throuh that. I'd be temped to make a window of shame, but afraid of loosing the window.

Did the cops not even review video or get a screen shot of the two. So they could go patrol the area to get their names? Or did the cops real just not know how to do the job they are paid todo?

I manage a wholesale liquor store in a college town (trained myself to be a locksmith and still training). You uave good camera coverage, but there is a lot of stuff for people to grab. We have issues all the time with peoole stealing. You can't do anything to them either really except press a criminal trespass on them.

We usually have people with backpacks or bags come in, and we just have signs up that say no bags or hoodies allowed inside. If we catch somebody they usually put it back, but the cops told us we can't physically take it from them when they steal from us because it's "assault". Also we have a wall of shame with pictures of the people that stole from our security cameras.
