Shop built - shop tour

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

My first shop tour. I’ve been in the shop for about two years and i’m going to be moving soon, so i thought now would be a good time to do my woodworking shop tour.

    I actually like the idea of having the welder setup under the bench. I always put it away after use and it's pain bringing it out. I was thinking of making just a trolley, but now I think I'll make a trolley that's higher that can roll under the bench. Only trouble is when I use it outside, I have to drag it across grass so I might have to find some much larger castors.

    Making the best of what you have, We sold our bar & restaurant and slid into retirement bought this property with a nice out building 30 x 40 ft. Thought it was so big some how it is full. Shop is never too big, organization is the key and not saving every odd piece of wood.

    Your spread out over several rooms but your total square footage for shop is quite generous. I'm thankful to have half the space you have, but I have three times the number of tools. Everyone's shop needs are different depending on the projects and functions that they perform.

    If you can't do a walkout, at least try for an extra wide *straight* staircase, to make getting things in and out as painless as possible... I would really prefer to not deal with stairs so a walkout would be my goal for a future shop as well.

    When I finally manage to move if there isn't a shop space on the ground level I'm not even looking at it. But then when you don't have a family you can afford to look for a shop with attached living quarters rather than a house. It's amazing how many listings there are where there's twelve pictures of the kitchen but zero of the garage or barn or electrical panel. Where are these people's priorities?

  • @Wordsnwood

    @Wordsnwood

    Hi there, you mentioned your distaste in having a hand tool workbench/assembly table that doubles as an outfeed table. I was wondering why that is the case? I have a small workshop as well and I’m considering doing the same as well. It would be great to hear your thoughts. You also said just an assembly table/our feed table is acceptable, so why is that ok but not a workbench? Thank you for the video!
