Shooting Pano Portraits & How To Stitch a Panorama in Photoshop | Pano 101, tips and tricks

Because you asked so nicely, here is the how-to for stitching panos, but it also includes shooting tips for panorama portraits, stitching panoramas in Photoshop, my own preferences for processing options, methods and clean up, along with a bit of preview of the photograph used in the tutorial here too.
Using a pano set up of my very own FinnFinn from back in November when we went on our holidays, I hope that this video walks through the must-have elements for photographing panos, along with the method I use for merging panorama frames together in both Lightroom and Photoshop.
Another tip that I totally forgot to mention is that you must not refocus as you are taking your wider shots - turn your lens to manual mode or use back-button focus and do not touch the focus as you are shooting your panorama.

    Thank you! Seeing how you merged the images together but then still were able to keep the processes underneath was new for me. I usually find myself cloning cleaning up in photoshop but then the only way I know how to move past that point is to flatten the image, which isn’t always what I actually want to do - so I will try this method next time 🤞🏼

    I will try it this afternoon. So i'll have to take the photos in portrait mode. Not ideal for me, my pics are never straight at portrait mode. Woopsie! 😅 A challenge then! Thanks for the video!

    Thanks for the tips! ☺️ Next time will try the 1/3 overlap. I have one question: is it better to take a pic without moving from the spot and just turn your camera, or actually move sideways and take rest of the frames??

  • @daemon1143

    @daemon1143

    From the same spot. If you move you've got a lot less chance of good alignment and you can also end up with scale changes on top of angle and distortion changes, which can get too much for the software to cope with.
