HOW TO: Composite images in Photoshop to quickly remove distractions

Requested by a workshop participant last weekend, this video covers how to replace backgrounds in photoshop to quickly composite images, removing leads, distractions and more in seconds. Yes, this does involve having an empty shot but if you shoot proactively, you'll cut your editing time by a huge amount. Remember, efficiency is the aim of the game here!

    Saves SO much time, just needs an extra second or two when shooting :) Back button focus is important though to hold the focal plane!

    Nice! And for 10:50 minutes I kept wondering about the elephant: How is Jess going to deal with that distracting blob in the lower left foreground that she is ignoring? And then in the final result I see it no longer looks like some's head got in front of your lens. 😁 Instead it looks subdued and a DoF intended part of the log. All by tonal adjustments. My favorite unmentioned part of your work on this image. Another wildly satisfied client, no doubt! 👍

    How do you get the second photo with same focus as the first?

  • @ChrisRavage
    @ChrisRavage2 жыл бұрын

    Incredibly interesting..I was wondering however. On your final edit, it seems like your preset or edit, doesnt effect the colours of the actual dog itself, just the background, for example the browns look untouched on the face but deeper in the background. How is this achieved? Sorry if youve done a video on this already and im overlooking it. Thanks

    Great vid again. I take it that you have instructed the handler that you will need to get another shot without the dog immediately after "the" shot, then he/she has to remove the dog pretty quick from the scene asap?

    This is the very thing I need to practice, taking out humans and leads. I do have a question. Would auto aligning the layers be beneficial? Thank you for your videos!!!!

    I hope it helps! I've answered a Q on Auto-align further down. If it works perfect for you then great, but for me I can' get it how I want it so I do it manually 99% of the time 🤓

    I've tried this before but I couldn't quite get the right focus point. How does the back button focus work exactly?

  • @ThatPhotographySpot

    @ThatPhotographySpot

    3 жыл бұрын

    So you hold the back button to focus, not the shutter button, and then once you have taken the dog photo you take your thumb off of the back button. That holds the focus exactly where it was before. Then you take another photo (NO THUMB!) and the focus will stay the same as it was with the dog. Super quick, super simple ☺️

    I’ve tried it a few times it always alters the perspective/distortion on one of the layers and I just can’t get happy with it! Maybe it is better now? I will try again 🤞

    Was the camera mounted on a tripod for that price of work Jurgen? I will keep trying with the auto-align and see if it is maybe my layer order or align settings that is throwing them out somewhere 🤓
