Shooting Ballistic Gel Birds at Silicone Fabio with
Ғылым және технология
Adam Savage is a HUGE fan of both @bobbyfingers and @theslowmoguys, so when he was approached to build an air cannon to shoot a ballistics gel goose at 75 mph at a silicone Fabio Lanzoni head in a Texas quarry, he was ALL over it! (Who wouldn't be?!) Here's the story of how Adam built the cannon, how this three-channel collaboration came together, and how he felt stepping back into his old MythBusters shoes. And be sure to watch @bobbyfingers' Fabio and the Goose: • Fabio and the Goose and @theslowmoguys' 75 MPH Bird to the Face: • 75mph Bird to the Face... for the REST of the story.

"Video theater" is how I'll describe Bobby Fingers from now on. Spot on.
I'm a Patron of Bobby Fingers, so I saw his video yesterday and couldn't wait for you yours to come out! When he says "I reached out to the guy from Mythbusters, and he said 'no'", I though, that seems unlikely... then "so I called the other guy from Mythbusters, and he said yes" and I got so excited. It's a situation where the whole is exactly the sum of its parts, and each part is so magnificent on its own that it's an entirely new thing to see them together.
It's been years since I've watched an episode of Mythbusters, but seeing Adam wearing a black shirt and wide-brimmed hat, standing in a quarry, huddled around a high-speed camera instantly brought me back.
Seeing Adam’s emotion from getting to relive the life he had during that TV show reminds me how homesick I am of times in my own life that don’t exist any more.

Adam's immediate pivot to safety talk really got me. He's extemely experienced in this stuff, and its the veterans who have done something hundreds of times that can start to forget the minutiae, and when dealing with a potential bomb/cannon, you can't afford that when you dont have support to double check stuff. It was all on him and he took it deadly serious, and for that, I salute him. o7

I think Bobby has created the pinnacle of pure art on KZread especially his Michael Jackson on fire diorama. It's twists and turns ending in a beautiful catharsis is a thing of wonder.
I've watched all 3 versions of the videos between @bobbyfingers, @theslowmoguys and your channel. Honestly, it was a lot of fun watching all of them but I think my favorite part was watching you (Adam) reminisce about the times at MythBusters (rather nostalgic). As you pointed out, you can do it all on your own, but it truly takes a team to make the real magic happen.
Seeing Adam be so happy and enthusiastic with the slo mo guys and Bobby made me just smile the whole time. Having been subscribed to the slo Mo guys since nearly the beginning AND having grown up with mythbusters it just brought me so much joy that I honestly felt like a teen again watching a new mythbusters episode!

I loved in the @theslowmoguys video they included the safety instruction you gave before firing the air cannon. You message about thinking how to do this safely reminded me of @smartereveryday doing a version of the bullet vs bullet you tested on MythBusters and the safety check list he had for not just safely shooting 2 guns at each other but also the saft while setting things up. To me showing the processes and features of a build that are needed for safty are more informative than just a "Don't try this at home" statement.

One thing I love is KZreadrs being big fans of each other and then getting together to make something awesome
Can I say that the very first shot of Adam in the quarry with a giant air cannon and a ballistic gel bird brought on a wave of nostalgia

There's something incredibly touching about three groups of creatives all admiring each others work from a distance, and coming together just to end up working with each other like they've been friends for years. Adam Savage, and all the cast and crew of Mythbusters inspired so many people to end up tinkering and creating, then recording it so it became "Science", and I love when that comes full circle and those creatives get to "wow" the Mythbusters the same way they would "wow" us.
