Shooting Ballistic Gel Birds at Silicone Fabio with

Ғылым және технология

Adam Savage is a HUGE fan of both @bobbyfingers and @theslowmoguys, so when he was approached to build an air cannon to shoot a ballistics gel goose at 75 mph at a silicone Fabio Lanzoni head in a Texas quarry, he was ALL over it! (Who wouldn't be?!) Here's the story of how Adam built the cannon, how this three-channel collaboration came together, and how he felt stepping back into his old MythBusters shoes. And be sure to watch @bobbyfingers' Fabio and the Goose: • Fabio and the Goose and @theslowmoguys' 75 MPH Bird to the Face: • 75mph Bird to the Face... for the REST of the story.

When he says "I reached out to the guy from Mythbusters, and he said 'no'", I though, that seems unlikely... then "so I called the other guy from Mythbusters, and he said yes" and I got so excited. Love Bobby. The time, effort, expense, and artistry he puts in to making things that are just singularly weird is fantastic.

Adam's immediate pivot to safety talk really got me. He's extemely experienced in this stuff, and its the veterans who have done something hundreds of times that can start to forget the minutiae, and when dealing with a potential bomb/cannon, you can't afford that when you dont have support to double check stuff. Man, I'm binge rewatching Mythbusters, I'm nearing the end of season 5. It feels so good seeing you doing stuff like this again and having so fun much doing it after seeing how much you loved it back then! I bet this was a nice break from the humdrum that you really needed. Love seeing this so much!

Its hard to explain the nostalgia from hearing Adam yell 3 2 1 then some weird wild stuff happening. I wish I could go back and watch all of Mythbusters for the first time again.

My son was born just about the same time Mythbusters hit the air and I spent many an evening tending to him, and later my daughter, watching the show. Later we watched together every week. Now they’re in college, and this was like a nostalgia bomb going off.

I really wasn't expecting to feel Adam's nostalgia for his days at Mythbusters. He's right, there's something so special about just getting to think of some silly problem and deal with it so thoroughly.

There's something incredibly touching about three groups of creatives all admiring each others work from a distance, and coming together just to end up working with each other like they've been friends for years. Adam Savage, and all the cast and crew of Mythbusters inspired so many people to end up tinkering and creating, then recording it so it became "Science", and I love when that comes full circle and those creatives get to "wow" the Mythbusters the same way they would "wow" us.

See this is why these collaborations are so amazing. Grew up watching mythbusters with my grandpa and went through my teenage years watching gavin screw around in games, on podcasts, and in slow motion. And now you guys have introduced me to Bobby Fingers, who im going to go check out now. I truly hope you guys make more things happen together, even if its some random video again, Adams engineer brain could come up with some awesome stuff to help with Gav and Dans demolition shoots or just something with guns or air compressors. And i would LOVE to see that old school mythbusters mentality of always ending it with the biggest possible bang!
