I think the disloyal versions of Shockwave make significantly more sense than the loyal ones. After all, he's an emotionless machine driven purely by logic, while most versions of Megatron are, well... total nutbars. Prime Shockwave is a good example of this, because he's so methodical and smart and then he's also absolutely loyal to this megalomaniacal madman with a Space Cocaine addiction who destroyed their world over a spat with his ex. Like my guy, Starscream was legitimately doing a better job before Megatron came back from his coke sabbatical to make zombies and lost the entire war within like eighteen months.

@@Kadeem.C. Which is why Shockwave following Megatron in Animated makes perfect sense. Most versions of Megatron are nearly insane, but TFA Megatron is a cold, calculating, ruthless war machine.

I mean, Shockwave did second guess him on Megatron wanting to Cyberform earth. He wanted a logical explanation. Besides that, it's kinda stated that Shockwave goes with the Decepticons because they have resources and facilities for him to experiment, and they don't care how inhumane he is with his experimentation. The Autobots would just say "No, don't split open that bot to play with his spark. The Decepticons go "Sure, whatever, he's the buzzsaw and pincers, have fun."

Even though Shockwave in the film didn't do much of anything, I will admit, his design is my favorite out of them all, with only the design from Transformers Prime nearly outmatching it it terms of my favorite.

Yep. He actually looks monstrous. Sad how the game is the only piece of media that gave him justice, while the films made him into simple cannon fodder.

It's interesting how Shockwave is one of most 4 iconic Decepticons alongside Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave despite not having much of a big role in g1.

For me cyberverse and tf prime are my definitive shockwaves and are probably the best representations of the character since g1. Animated is good too despite my brief exposure to that version of Shockwave and idc if bayverse shockwave was utterly wasted, that design remains as my favorite one.

I honestly want a Shockwave in a animated show that ends up actually betraying Megatron and takes over the Decepticons like in the original Marvel comics.

Tf prime shockwave is amazing but he gets overshadowed by the absolute menace of soundwave.

Probably because we only properly got introduced to Shockwave in the final season which had limited episodes. Even still he was intimidating af in every single scene he appeared in, that show did him justice

Energon Shockblast is cool too but you know “energon bad” Seriously Shockblast (aka shockwave) was a menace in energon and definitely the most sadistic version

My problem with Cyberverse is that they try to give Shockwave a Brow which kind of defeats the No Emotion thing💀

And yet he still comes off as emotionless in terms of personality, the brow just makes him more intimidating which is a given to his character since some characters find him imposing with just 1 eye alone alongside his twisted personality.

@@Kaiju-bm4ts Personally I find the menacing brow less intimidating, as giving shockwave anything that could indicate what emotion he's feeling. I however the bayformers shockwave adds a sort of face to him that doesn't decrease his intimidation as there is no way to show emotion through a row of 8 vertical fangs covered by moving panels.

Shockwave is my favourite version of him along with Transformers Prime character. Love his voice too.

Tf prime shockwave looks bulky like dark of the moon but has the intelligence of his other versions in my opinion

You should do Ultra Magnus next. A lot of people hated him since he was meant to replace Optimus, and also his leadership was terrible. Then he got rebooted as one of Optimus' top officers who was on (implied) equal footing with him. My favorite version of him was Animated where he was completely overhauled to be Optimus' superior and had the skills to back it all up

I mean, I've seen his G1 gun alt being referred to as a "Space Gun", which makes sense since he doesn't seen to change size as far as I remember, and has a more mad Decapticon Scientist vibe of making deadly space lasers

Personally I've never counted Transformers Prime as part of any sort of Canon. The thing that got me is that the Autobots are stuck with like 5 people, only 3 (not counting Cliffjumper since for some reason he had to "rejoin" up with Optimus with Arcee via Shockwaves Space Bridge?) of which were on The Ark as we saw in Transformers Fall of Cybertron. I do understand the reason they didn't have over 100 different Autobots running around is because that'd become very expensive very quickly. But on the other hand that's no excuse for sloppy or poor writing. G1 had over 50 different and unique characters, with their own personalities, weapons, voices, sounds, etc. (Will admit a few Decepticons were simply different colors of each other, but it was the 90s, so I am lenient). I think Transformers War for Cybertron & G1 are my personal Canon, as they don't particularly contradict each other and could be updated into a sort of Unified Timeline.
