Something I've learned about shimano is the lower drag strengths generally are in the light line finesse category and higher drags are in the power fishing line. Shimano has the two lines of reels for a reason. There is no actual comparison due to they are meant for two different fishing styles/techniques. Now the components may be comparable in some ways.

One thing to consider is if you are using the 500-2000 size reels more for ultra light finesse fishing then usually you will be using a light enough test line that will fail or break before the maximum drag on the reel will be what causes a problem.

I’ll probably be going for a nasci 4000 or 5000 xgfc (that would do probably 99% of the fish I want around my area) kinda got burnt a bit with shimano and got a sienna 4000fg combo …only to realise that when I was fishing it can’t reel for crap ….then I opened it because I thought it was strange that it barely had cranking power …to find it had all plastic gears ….and my answer was found ….so I’m giving them 1 more shot and going for the nasci fingers crossed it has a bit more crank

@@humbugvideos dude I just tested it out (got a 5000) not on a huge fish but we will say a 1kg fish) and it performed a hell of a lot better than that sienna …this is what I was hoping Shimano would be like …paired it with a Daiwa rod and it performs pretty solid …the drag is amazing …so smooth to wind …(has a bit of crank even under some tension ) I reckon this boy could tackle some big fellas …more than I will ever need 😎 glad I gave Shimano a second chance 😎 glad I watched this vid cheers 🥂

That was something I should’ve mentioned in the video, but all 3 reels do contain the Hagane gears.
