I agree with your assessment Chewy. I have the Stradic FL in the 1000 and 2500 size and they're smoother and less play than my Vanford 2000, 2500 or 3000. Even though the Stradic is heavier, I enjoy fishing with them vs. my Vanford's. I also have Vanquish's, Stella's and Exsence's and they're my favorites. For the money, the Stradic is a Great buy.

I wanted a really cool Shimano just for bling and very occasional Trout/Bass so I started looking at Stella FK , Twin Power FD and Sustain FJ but as of right now I am being much more realistic and going with the Stradic FM.

Do you like the two tone color of the Stradic FM. The spool looks like a similar color to the Complex that I have and the body is a lighter silver. I’d say it looks interesting but does look cool

Good question - I don’t mind it at all and like the two tone silver. Tbh, performance matters more to me as long as it’s not flashy like lews reels. I dig the color way and the performance speaks for itself.

Thanks for watching! I recommend trying the used market or eBay! One thing I’ll share with you - don’t pay retail! There are deals out there. Just have to find them 😉

I just bought one off Digitaka. The 23 STRADIC C2500SXG version. It was the last one too. 30% off. Got it for $125 total. Woohoo. Can't wait to use it!!

Not sure if you cover this on your other post but I own the 2500 FL and I just recently bought the 1000 FM. I was going to use the FM for pan fish. My brain usually gets fried when trying to analyze the specs and the why the 1000 vs a 2000, etc. You say that you will use the 2500 FM for panfish. Why the 2500 and not the 1000? Thanks for any help. I am somewhat newer to spinning reels.

1000 and 2000 are same only difference is spool size, 2500 way to big trust me on that

What line you use?PE?meter?

I agree with you on vanford, felt cheap and didn't seem as smooth as even the stradic fl, been debating on getting a fm as well

All Shimano stradics have play in the handle. I've had 5 of them in different sizes. And all stradics have some crackling feel/sound when you reel them really really slow. I've had FK, FM, and currently have 3 sizes in FL. FM is not an upgrade over FL. Just an opinion.

Everyone will have a different opinion and that's completely okay. The FM that i have has zero play in the handle - just like my vanquish/stella/twin power/etc. Something that they fixed with the newest model. I've fished FK, FL and FM - i really prefer the FM. In fact, i think the FM is the best one they've ever released but again, that is based on my opinion and how i use my reels for what i use it for.

I mean I understand if you love the product, I love Shimano as well, but you can clearly hear the handle play in the video when you attempted to show that there's no play. I also have two Twinpower and one Vanquish reel and not one had zero play. Still like the reels though.

Yes, I did noticed the rough feeling on my Vanford 2500 out of the box when reeling in and after applying bantam oil the grittiness did go away. I guess the reels have been sitting in the shelf for a while.

Sold my FL to replace it with the FM... definitely smoother

I got mine 120$, stradic sound is extremely loud right out of the box; the reel is smooth, but the volume is a little high.

I prefer the Complex XR over the Vanford any day, the Complex XR is much well build as well

I would say that it is a close comparison. For the money, I think the stradic FM is a better buy but the sustain sj is a slightly better reel but not by much.

How does the Shimano Stradic FM compare to Twin Power FD?

Twin Power is a heavier reel and built for more power fishing. Stradic FM is a great all around reel - kind of the jack of all trades but master of none!

My FM casting distance has decreased by about 1/4 after taking it up to devils lake for a 3 day fishing. I thought it needed oil and cleaning but still not getting the result as when it came out of the box. I'm disappointed, hope the FL fixes that issue.

Weird noise? I don’t recall any weird noise. Keep in mind, the braided line is hanging off the side so that could be it?

I wouldnt say the FM is 'far better' than the FL. Ive had a few FLs since they came out in 2019. FL was a big improvement over FK and ci4/vanford. I immediately noticed how stiffer and 'stronger' feeling the FL body was when 1st using it. I have abused the FLs since '19 catchin smallies, walleye, wai-bae, and occasionally a few sturgeons/flatheads. But FM feels similar to FL. FM just has better tech 'on paper' but the feel is similar. Going to buy more FMs though, cuz its same price as FLs.

I would say that the FM is absolutely better than the FL but it doesn't discount that the FL is still a great reel. No need to upgrade IMO but if you had to get one, buy the FM for sure.

Dude I just bought two Vanfords. I think they are going back for the FM. They feel sloppy to me. Fit and finish isn't there.

Hey! Right now - the best deal is to get at an your local expo. I live in Wisconsin and i'm only about 1.5 hours away from Chicago. There's a expo there where most reels/rods are 20-30% off. You can expect to find this deal at ANY fishing expo near you. Normally, every state has one.

everyting is better than a vanford i say.. vanford shimanos worst plastic shit reel 4 of mine broke down in fresh water for perch all of them are crap.. noisy bearings,.,., platic crap stradic fa , rarenium was the reels shimano never should took out

Been using my Vanford in the Delaware river in my kayak for smallmouth, walleye, and stripers. Still just as smooth as the day I bought it.
