    I have to agree the Expride is a.bad ass rod! I mostly fish with NRX and Exprides A, the Exprides are worth the old prices and I love them! I do still fish some old Cumara rods but I actually like the feel of the Expride over the NRX on some models

    The 7'2 ML is my favorite Expride rod... I've thrown 1/10oz Ned rigs, Tubes, finesse jigs, small swimbaits, and it's my go-to baitcasting rod for skipping wacky senkos under docks. These rods are just amazing for that price point. I own 4 of them, 172mh, 170m_g, 176h-sb, and 173xh. I also have 2 Zodias, 1610m and 1610mh. I love them both, but Expride are my choice. I Bought most of them in Japan, because in France, we are restricted in choice, only 3 models are available (168mh-2, 166m and 173xh) . Due to import taxe, it was little more expensive but i don't regret. Do you have the Japanese certification ? CFRJ ? I have noticed that they don't all have the same tip ring. The coat on the reel seat can be "whitish" on rainy day. On the 170m-g i had some bubbles under the varnish. Like we said in France, to try is to get it. Totally agree, if you can afford it, go for it. Prices are increseased on some japanse shop, which s****

    Brian Kohl check out the Nanoace rods by major craft. I’ve had a few and they’re pretty nice. But for finesse stuff, I would have to recommend going as expensive as you can. I use a GLX 852s for my finesse fishing and I love it. I fish hair jigs with it mostly and you can get them for more than 20% off when you shop on eBay. Another thing is the power that expensive rods have over cheaper rods. The backbone is crazy with the GLX spinning rods. Buy once, cry once. That’s my opinion.

    Got to thinking: if I had a $350-dollar rod with a broken tip, I sure would not hesitate to have it repaired. It is a simple fix to replace the rod tip guide and move the lower guide down the blank. The fact is any good rod maker would fix you right up. I fixed my own rods a time or two and you cannot tell they were ever broken. The only one who will know is you. There plenty of instructional videos showing how to do it yourself on KZread it’s a shame not to fix it.

    Fishing rods are like pizza the box costs more than the pizza. One-piece blank rods are the simplest to make and cost the least in materials. When you realize this, you can understand the profits of selling mass quantiles make millions. Any casting reel is much more costly to make than any rod at any price point. Daiwa sells compact collapsing rods in custom cases for around $200 dollars and they are good rods. You may not like Daiwa products because of the brand name but the proof is clear that good rods are still good rods. What do think costs more to make? You have a good system for testing reels that covers the specifications of the reels. Then you compare them with other models in the same price group this may not be an exactly perfect system but you are one of the few that do it. You can apply this system to rods just by using similar data. Price, material qualities, specifications, weight, comfort of use, casting performance, durability and design. China sells rods you know use good materials from the ones you used and tested. They also make mass amounts for American branded companies. The huge difference in price tells me rods are cheap to make that proves my point. You certainly are no fish-catching expert; but you are certainly an excellent fishing product testing and review source of information. I seldom can watch a TacticalBassin video to the end because they promote overpriced tackle and know it is. They surely are given tons of tackle and lures free; who do you know uses any lure costing a hundred dollars. They have built a business around advertising products. I respect your opinion more and think you are a better source of good information than they can ever be. They may be fewer honest successful business people however, you have to choose which you want to be. Being independent and honest is my suggested route. Impartial proven facts are what anglers want to know. I can watch hundreds of company sponsored advertising hand puppet channels don’t become one please.

The results comparing to the value are incredible but at the end of the day, no matter how light nor sensitive it didn't matter to bass who wouldn't touch a wacky robo but would destroy a nightcrawler in a heartbeat. On these days, if you cant beat them, why not join them.

    Absolutely agree. Whenever you spend that kind of money for a rod you should get more than a year warranty! I have also heard horror stories of people trying to collect on that! There are other rods in this price range that have life time warranties and affordable rods with 5 year warranties. I just purchased a Dobyns Fury ($130) for froggin and it came with a life time warranty! I buy the Shimano reels but will not buy their rods because of that.

  • @Unspoke

    @Unspoke

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@CallahanHarry44 You should've upgraded to the Dobyns Sierra. The Fury isn't where it's at. The Sierra is more sensitive and has a slower action, meaning that the rod will load up more so you will use less of the tip, which means that you're able to use more power of the blank, use less of the tip (because if you use it too much then it will eventually snap off over time), and the slower taper will allow you to keep the off reacting as fast you can for froggin.

    All I know is that 13 rods are prone to breaking. Im not risking spending this kind of money on that reputation.

    Yeah, I read a few reviews like that, not snapping of the rod but more in line of the resin around the guides cracking. I think that settles ot though. Expride it is. I plan on really working these rods so breakage of any kind is a turn off.

    St. Croix are nice rods. Personally in my hands I preferred the feel of the Expride over a lot of the rods I handled. After looking over the Lew's BB1 its size kind of bugs me. When I fish I'm out for at least 6 hours and because I frog fish where I go I'm working my bait very heavily nonstop. I can see myself getting fatigued with a BB1 in my hands. The Curado 200k was nice and small, perfect for my hands because they're small. I've never used the breaking system the Curado has because I've never owned a Shimano casting reel but the K felt every comfortable for me.

    I lost 6 fish yesterday and only pulled one out. Reason? Ass-sucking hooksets. Why? My Ugly Stik Elite has too little backbone with a mod-fast action. My uncle watched me lose fish after fish, and after washing up, we met up for dinner at my grandma's and he gave me HIS OWN Eupro TwinCraft casting rod!!! Can't wait to test it out!

Shimano didn't know what they had with this rod until it was too late. I wouldn't say it is as good as my Megabass Destroyer FMJ, but for $270 it pretty damn close.

    Us Malaysians like 2-piece, because it is so much easier to keep in a car and bushwhack the Malaysian rainforests without too much trouble. 2 piece or one piece? My opinion is that there is almost no difference in feel. Modern rods are already so good you can't tell the difference.
