    When I have to place small screw/bolts at hard places and angles, I sometimes put a lil bit of grease in the tip of the screwdriver so the screw will stick to it and make it easyer to place where it needs

    Great video man, just did this to my vanford 1000 and yes it does sound way louder than it was originally. Gonna try this with my stella 1000 when I can overcome the fear of messing something up on that reel lol. You were definitely right on putting it pack. It is a royal pain in the arse.

    @i_fish, Thank you so much, I had dislodged the spring during cleaning. Anyone looking for an easier way to deal with the small parts: I used 'Blue-tack' as initial screwdriver, to keep screw +click+spring in place. Once you have it on the thread, it makes it easier to set the spring and tighten the screw.

    I always enjoy your videos… let me tell you, next time you’re in a Dicks Sporting Goods go through all the spinning reels listening to the drags. You will find an $80 Lews combo called the “Mach Lite”… this thing pings louder than any other reel. It’s like a damn dinner bell! Now, I caught a 45lb carp on 6lb test with this thing and my ears are still ringing. Keep up the great videos

    my ears are still ringing - LOL - good one there. I dont know that reel but i can confirm that there are many cheap reels in Bass Pro shops with awesome drags. I used to open them to see the design. They all have the same design of the clicker. Last year I made a video about a RUNCL reel that had that design and had an awesome sound. All of those reels, if you remove the spool, have that design. It is obviously not patented, but daiwa and shimano don't like it for some reason.

    as a carp angler myself, i may hurt your feelings, but i don't believe the 45 lbs. Email me picture, or retract that : ) Bass anglers tell me of 30 and 40 pound carp all the time, and when i see the picture they just snagged a 12-15 lb fish. There are very few lakes in the entire united states that have 45 lb carp. They usually die from pollution long before they make it to 20. It has to be some very big and very clean body of water

    It's always fun to watch your videos, very informative and entertaining, and I find myself waiting for your next installment. I do find a few two things interesting... I''ll preface my comments with the classic "It's not you, it's me"... because, well... it is me. :) First, I've always preferred less drag click sound. I tend to find it irritating and unnecessary. In fact, I want just enough click feel that I can determine how fast the line is leaving the spool and would be happy with no click sound. Yes, I have modified a spool or two in this way. Second, the Complex XR spool on the Stella appears to clash. I'll blame my lack of color perception. I am red-green color blind, and not a just a little, so my brain tends to dislike colors that would otherwise be deemed a good or acceptable match. I told you it's me. Cheers!

    Well you can compress the spring instead of stretching it then.. This is not the first time i get feedback that people don't like loud drag. I usually have many reasons for the things I do but some of them are secret. Most of my viewers are other youtubers who want content for their own videos. But i recommended in the video not to do this to vanford reels. As for the complex xr spool on the stella - the match is flawless. Two shades of gray, both with metallic flake, both sligthly shiny. There is no way you can tell in a store that spool is not for this reel. The problem is than in my quest to give you guys a close up view I have so much light, and zoom so close, that you see in the video much more than you see with your own eyes in person. I myself see dirt and grease and dust on the reels that is completely invisible to naked eye in normal daylight, even good daylight. If i knew, i would have cleaned the reels before the video. My videos exaggerate everything, and you can notice small differences in color that you, even if you are a man with good eyes, will never notice in person. I am seriously considering reducing the light, and not zooming so much, to create a more realistic picture of what you would see in person

    @@ifishcatfish Victor, you're doing an awesome job! I did see something (a fingerprint maybe) which, to be honest, is a good thing. There's zero doubt you've spent time with these reels and work to understand them. They shouldn't be pristine.... and if it wasn't clear, my color vision sucks. There's a reason I generally stick to black, grey, white and maybe blue when I buy clothing. I may have to check out one of these Shimano's. I have two Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT1000, one Procyon AL LT1000 and one Tatula LT3000 (USA shallow spool). The Ballistic's are awesome. The Procyon should be similar, but the drivetrain is not nearly as fluid but excellent for what I paid. The Tatula is a head scratcher. Once I have a fish on it seems good, but when reeling in various lures (1/8 oz to 3/8 oz) I don't like it. There's a little flex in the rotor even under light load and the line doesn't ride on the line roller the way I think it should (but similar to the other 3 reels), and I've tried mono and braid from 4 lb to 20 lb. After looking closely at the reel I think it's due to the reel design and not a flaw. Time to learn about Shimano's offerings. Cheers!

    nice video. But as I know, the new Stella c2000s spool has a little different height compared to 19 vanquish c2000s, will that matters when line lays on the spool?

  • @ifishcatfish

    @ifishcatfish

    2 жыл бұрын

    i haven't seen a difference large enough to hurt that, although you may have to reshim. If you think about it, using 2 lb line vs 4 lb line makes much bigger difference in the line lay. If one side of the spool is low, you have to reshim. If both sides of the spool are low, u can use heavier line. If both sides of the spool are high, you need to use thinner line. But almost all of these spools are same height anyway.

    A thing to note for those who plan on making this modification. I did it about a year ago and since then the metal clicker has worn a slight indentation into the plastic ratchet wheel. Due to this, the drag clicking noise has become quieter and less defined as the plastic teeth in the ratchet wheel begin to round over. This faster wear can be reduced through frequent cleaning and lubing with oil, but it will inevitable wear faster than if you had just left the clicker stock. In my case, I managed to fix the issue by adding a couple spool shim washers in order to the lift the metal clicker onto a fresh section of the ratchet wheel. Not really a perfect fix though as adding shims will affect linelay on the spool.

  • @ifishcatfish

    @ifishcatfish

    Жыл бұрын

    you must be using your drag a lot to wear this out : ) How much did u bend the spring? If u did 60 yo 90 degree, as i said in the video, i don't think the difference is much

  • @Fishing_for_Fishies

    @Fishing_for_Fishies

    @@ifishcatfish Not really, it just happened gradually over a long period of use. I can't remember how much tension I added to the spring but there's a good chance it was more than you suggested, sounded great at first though. Either way, any dirt or particulates that end up on the plastic ratchet wheel can act as an abrasive, speeding up wear. So it's a good idea to clean the mechanism regularly especially after making the modification
