Shimane Travel Vlog | national treasure, the ancient shrine, Japanese sleeper train
Subtitles in more than 10 languages are now available (so far only this video)!
Happy New Year!
I have uploaded this before the new year holiday vlog.
I stopped by Shimane on my way back from a work trip to Okayama, and this is it. Many of you have probably never heard of Shimane Prefecture, but some of you may have heard of Izumo Taisha shrine. It is a peaceful place with many other spots as well.

Thank you for including info about music so we can find these beautiful selections! "Downstreams" around 9:13 on Lake Shinji is... perfect! 👌
Nice! I wish I had the opportunity to take that sleeper train the last time I traveled to Japan. You took it all the way from Izumo, too!
That was great. On the longer side, so I broke it up into three parts. Lovely places, awesome to see lesser known parts of Japan. So, so pretty. Love your humour as well!
Thanks for sharing this video. When Japan opens up I definitely plan on visiting this beautiful town.
The whole town seems like a treasure. So peaceful. The kind of place I'd love to live. Less people, more peace and quiet and beautiful scenery.
Congratulations o your achievement Mr S. Glad to see you back.
Ah, it is nearly midnight here in Germany. And I am so ready for this video and going to bed afterwards :) Have a good weekend folks!
My friend Sarah was a university teacher in Shimane for a while. I still have the postcard of Matsue-jo she sent me somewhere. That was the beginning of my love affair with Japan! Thank you for the lovely trip!
Thank you for sharing this video and i expect more videos like this coming from you 💛💛💛
Every single time I hear the introductory music, I feel like I'm meeting an old friend after a tiring day. Thank you for uploading!❤

The background music , the surroundings ,the castle, birds chirping, flowers and sunset...I just fell in love.
" I could have spent it relaxing at home, but decided to go to Shimane " ほんとうにありがとうございました~ thanku for ur effort to always share abt wonderful places to us^^
I was so absorb that I didn't realize 20 minutes had passed. "Many people" definitely so sarcasm intended lol
finally time to watch your video. Theme music in a beginning is a sign to relax and enjoy. So nice to see all those places, in real Life never going to have change to do. Happy you don't have too much music, can here the background noices as well. Thank you!
The internal structure of a traditional Japanese building is really beautiful! The sunset sky is also beautiful!
Your videos will probably be the reason that I will finally buy a TV to watch them in the best way :) Greetings from Germany

i love your video so much, very calm. its become my escapism from my stressful life. 動画ありがとうございます
Thanks to our Japanese daughter in law we travelled to lots of shrines by trains in Japan. Best way to go. We also went to a bird and flower park at Kakegawa. We were actually able to walk amongst a flock of emus, something we have never been able to do here in Australia! Really really hoping to come to Japan in December this year.
Nicely done. My wife and I enjoy your videos.
Watching your video is like I am traveling side by you. Amazing work.
I like how the places you visit aren't the typical tourist spots. Thank you for sharing the hidden gems of Japan with us!
......relaxing and good as always -thanks man!
You're a storyteller. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. I felt a sense of tranquility and even at times, humour. I hope, more than often, that you too enjoy the journey without looking through the camera. Until next time, take care. 😊
I am going through a lot of stress right now. By watching your video I had the chance to forget about my worries for 20 minutes. Your videos are very calming. :) Greetings from Germany
thank you so much for this video. I am sitting by a window in southern California and I am overwhelmed. by the feeling of visiting that beautiful shrine. and thank you for offering more subtitles. ❤
Shimane is so underrated. The black torii of Izumo-taisha and it's story that you've told are so astonishing and warming for me. I want to visit that place particularly now!
This was so calming... 😌
What I like the best is your subtitles. Sometimes the combination of sarcasm and subtle jokes is golden.
It's the special light and your eyes for the place that makes this video so special. Thank you for sharing 😊
I visited Japan before pandemic. I amazed by the serene & peaceful of small towns there. I wish one day i could visit and stay longer in Japan to experience more. Thank you for your beautiful video
Please take us to more off the beaten paths and sleeper trains if you can. Stay safe! 🌸
I have only heard of Matsue, Shimane because I know it is the hometown of Kei Nishikori. Thank you for the relaxing trip :)
Wow... Another moment of delight. A free trip to the beautiful Japan again. I may not be able to visit this place, yet, how heartfelt the every passing presentation, and seems I am in the very place, celebrating.... Thank you very much. Happy New Year.
I'm currently taking Japanese and love pausing the video to see if i could read some signs. I'm only just beginning though. Great video as always!

Wow Ryo, your videos just get better and better, it was like I was travelling with you. The small, atmospheric details you notice and share with us make all the difference. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Best wishes to you for 2022.
This was beautiful. It eased my anxiety as I'm going through exams and a generally stressful time. I looked up videos for Shimane, as I'm hoping to join University for my Masters there this winter. I was afraid about how the place will be as my boyfriend who lives in Tokyo has never been there and he wanted me to go to Tokyo. I think I will enjoy this tranquility and peace at Shimane. I think I am making the right choice by wanting to study in Shimane as I know I can always rely on the timely trains and flights back to Tokyo. Lots of love to you and to Japan.
You're back! :D
7:36 LoL yep that's the shrine of love all right.
your footage capture is fantastic. it puts so many details that you feel like i am there. you are gifted. keep up the great work.
Beautiful. Please continue to mesmerise us with your work. Thank you!
Nothing as lovely and calming as one of your videos. I really enjoyed every second. The sunset in this one was just magnificent!
hiya!,それからの憂鬱, enjoyed- that's great .all the bbest, 👐
I always get a little bit jealous when watching your videos of the countryside. Its so clean and peaceful while seemingly still having so much nature around. To live a simple life in the japanese countryside is somewhat appealing to me. Absolutely great video as always. Happy new year to you and good luck in 2022.

Your videos are so atmospheric and relaxing... Musical and visual accompaniment complement each other perfectly. Thank you for introducing us to Japanese culture and giving us the opportunity to see Japan in everyday life, especially in such difficult times as now... I wish I could visit Japan someday... It's such a beautiful country with beautiful nature, culture, history and architecture. Thank you so much for your videos, Ryo! Greetings from Siberia, Russia!
Great video as usual! I like that this one was a long-one because the destination, the Shimane Prefecture, is a terra incognita to most foreigners but, as I can see now, is surely worthy visiting and exploring. Thank you for sharing these previously unknown landmarks of Japan with us!
As usual, I really like your vlog. It's soothing, relaxing, and even give knowledge for me haha. Thank you for the video.
I missed your vlog! And it feels nice watching your new video now! 🙂

Hello Everyone, Just received notice of the winners in the Hatsu-KZread contest, for the first video of the new year. Congratulations are extended to our own Ryo, 'aka' Sorekara Melancholy, who has earned the Excellence Award, by popular vote! Many of the voters expressed their love & gratefulness for his deep insight & sensitivity in capturing the healing power of nature & the wholistic place humans have in the natural world. They also referenced his previous videos, for their supernatural ability to sooth, inspire, comfort, relax, 'take them along' & help them endure difficult times. Thanks to all the kind fans & fellow-travelers for their support...and Ryo, for his priceless contributions!!

Funny how I wanted to ask if tourists are allowed to come here right before 17:57 😂 Cos I want to see the place on my own but I'm concern about the culture and all. Good to know that we can. There are so many places I want to visit after watching your videos, I probably have to be in Japan for a year, loll
As someone from the Netherlands I was surprised to see 'Matsue Vogel-park', 'vogel' means bird in Dutch!

You've taken some lovely shots, and your editing is great! I've never visited Shimane, but was familiar with it from the setting of the 'Root Letter' visual novel. I hope to be able to see it for myself sometime :)
In love with your vlogs! They’re so beautiful and calm!!
Thank you for your lovely video and thai subtitles!! A place in Japan is really beautiful for me. I want to try and visit for once. สวัสดีปีใหม่ค่าา เย่เย่🎉
I missed your videos these past few weeks. And you came back with a great and long travel vlog. Wonderfully captured as always - I felt like I was on a trip as well. Once again you've helped my anxiety ease off a little. Really love these small and peaceful towns, kinda wish I lived there. Actually I'd love it if one day I could move to a similar place in Japan, just for a couple of years. By the way, I hope your drone is fine now.
Danke!

New content, nice to see you upload it
Thank you for this lovely video. It made me feel like I was strolling through Matsue again! You have captured the beauty of the water city. (On my first trip to Matsue, I thought I had a ticket for a regular early-morning train from Okayama to Matsue, but it turned out to be the Sunrise sleeper train and I was surprised to find that my "seat" was a nobi-nobi carpeted platform!)
You're videos gives so much peace and they are such a soothing experience. Thank you so much for creating such content ❤️
