Well, that's just good world building. If you had an ability and it is common knowledge that the people with your ability cannot throw hands....why wouldn't use that knowledge to your benefit and exploit it by giving your opponent a false sense of security before kicking their ass.

The fact that we know more about curses than we do about shikigami makes it more horrifying, especially given Mahoraga's appearance and abilities. What are their origins, what other types are there, what the hell is a divine general anyway!?? Ever since Mahoraga's appearance, I feel that the story might continue to incorporate horror elements, as it has been, while also starting to introduce elements of cosmic horror, akin to Lovecraftian motifs and whatnot. The'll probably be extremely subtle, and other people might dismiss it entirely, but how a teenager, though a talented sorcerer, could just summon a creature that can have the effective deadliness of a nuclear bomb leaves a large amount of questions that probably won't ever be answered, leaving us with the dread of fearing the unknown.

According to the Wikipedia page about the twelve heavenly generals, or the twelve divine generals. Which I’ve heard that Mahoraga is based of one of them. The divine generals are protective deities, and given Mahoragas ability, it seems his name fits quite nicely

I feel like maybe the difference is that a curse has a soul while a Shikigami is soulless. For example, Mahito and the disaster curses all have souls while I don't think that Megumi's Shikigami possesses any soul. I believe that is also the case with Rika. During JJK0, she was called a cursed spirit. However, during the Culling games arc, Uro and Ishigori called her a Shikigami. That is probably because Rika Orimoto's soul has passed on and all that remains is the "Rika", the Shikigami that she left for Yuta.

you are close to it, its more of a puppet with a possessing intelligence, the soul can be gone and be supplanted with whatever intelligence is needed. So with Mahoraga he probably has no sapience and his intelligence is oriented to whatever thing you want dead dead until it dies or vanishes.

Shikigami have always been one of the more interesting elements of JJK's powersystem imo it's a shame that they're so heavily underutilized/not really explored much apart from being used as a tool to handwavingly "explain the magic" if you get what I mean

“Explain the magic” they’re part of the magic of course they’re abilities are going to inform there users abilities because they’re part of their users abilities. Also for the megumi thing and having multiple cursed techniques, look a sukuna(pre fusion) even though it hasn’t been fully explained he has control over both his slashes and fire or kenjaku who stole different techniques from different peoples bodies or just Yuta with copy, megumi doesn’t need shikigami to explain having multiple abilities their just part of his toolkit

But isn't that what a shikigami is? You summon them as an extension to your powers to fight for you. For Megumi he manipulates shadows to summon 10 different Shikigami. Yuki and Yuta have Shikigami that are extensions of their abilities and without them they still would be able to fight with their CT albeit they wouldn't be as powerful. Higurama isn't even fully in control of his Cursed Technique Shikigami and he can't even decide the Version of Law or Crime to be Prosecued or Final Verdict of his own CT. Junpei is a side character so we can just ignore him. Btw can you give me an example of what the jjk Shikigami System would have been according to you. How would Megumi, Yuki, Yuta, or any other person's Shikigami work?

If megumi feeds a shikigami a sukuna finger would the shikigami get stronger???💯💯

Unclear, but they're likely hardcoded to kill anyone who is considered part of/enters the ritual in anyway shape or form. So let's say Mahoraga takes out Megumi, and is heading towards Haruta. Sukuna jumps in, attacks Mahoraga. He is part of the ritual now, so Mahoraga is going to try and kill him. But a random civillian on the street probably wouldn't be outright killed bt Mahoraga as long as they don't attack it. (Assuming they could see it)

Think of the Ten shadows like Pokemon. They're powerful, and this power makes them hard to control. If you're level is too low then they'll go Beserk, and indiscriminately rampage. Most of the time that means killing the summoner since they're the closest target.

Probably both The shikigami from tst clearly have their own minds Nue needs encouragement from megumi to attack hanami The dogs wag their tail when being pet Mahoraga and agito literally grin and show anger when hitting/get hit But they still are forced to obey orders and attack the summoner in ritual

​​​@@OGrupxe Tehnically speaking Sukuna is an outsider to the ritual even if he gets targeted by Mahoraga. Sukuna himself said that he is a third party to the ritual. edit: but I get your point. Just a little nuance. But also technically you also "join" the ritual by participating after the summoning. It's just that if the exorcism of the shikigami is done by the outsider, it is null and void which is to say it's not tamed which is the purpose of the ritual.

Is that why Sukuna is so talented at jujutsu? He's partly a curse; I imagine, because he's part curse the negative effects of curse energy are minimized. If that's the case curse energy would need less effort to control, because it doesn't feel nearly as aversive.

Shikigami are generally not strong The only strong ones we seen are those that are from cursed techniques(ten shadows, rika, Dagon's) or have combined with cursed techniques like yuki's garuda Also u need to carry something as a medium, talismans or something to summon them U would need to use ce and if they aren't strong its a waste Sure on a low level they can be usable But mid to high they are useless mostly Think mahito' transfigured humans but without any weird ability and only 1 or 2, how useful would it be especially since u would need to use a decent amount of ce to make them?

As a follow up idk if you know but was junpi summoning a normal shikigami or is the jellyfish a part of his CT? Because if it's not it seems pretty useful even without poison. I'm anime only so maybe they get more into it but I'd love a break down of how much ce a shikigami takes vs how strong it is and is it possible to make a shikigami stronger? I'm rambling now it just seems like a missed opportunity to expand the power system past CT it would be so cool to see yuji fighting with a little shikigami buddy lol

​@malikrobinson9960 I was recently told that the jellyfish is a shikigami and that the curse technique of poison was junpei's. It manifested with his shikigami making it seem strong. I think a shikigami is weak if it is made of little caused energy, of course.

I feel like this explanation kind of further causes confusion because as far as we know shikigami are made of cursed energy. In fact, iirc non-sorcerers cannot see shikigami just like they cannot see curses or cursed energy. This would mean that both shikigami and cursed are BOTH made of cursed energy and from cursed energy. The difference being that cursed spirits appear naturally from the cursed energy leaking off of humanity accumulating over time, and shikigami are created from the cursed energy of a sorcerer.

They are the same thing and aren't at the same time U can refer to cursed spirit as curses Just a short version U can also refer to as "lets curse each other" which means "lets fight" Or to just imply some is horrible by calling then a curse
