We have been thinking about the exact cause of the valve rocker breaking. We think it's because the valves went floating because of the high rpm's. Floating valves means that the return springs on the valves aren't strong enough to force them back fast enough and clearance will occur on the mechanism. At some moment the valve is moving up and the cam moving down, causing an impact which breaks the rocker arm.

@ luke sills. Better watch it again. Ee told that lean does not run hot. But what is lean and what is rich ? A normal engine runs pretty rich. If you go then leaner then for sure it runs hotter. On the scale left or right from the magic 14.7 to 1 you are still close to the middle. Ofcourse if you go far on the right scale the temperature drops again but that is not what you will reach. I do not understand why ee put it like that. However this car is not the best test example as cooling system might be bad. Another idea. Make it an oil cooled car :-)
