    @reyuji_ European shifter knobs use a 6 pin connector, American shifter knobs are pneumatic. It's easier to convert the European knobs to USB, since the switches are already inside, just add an arduino controller board.

    I mean people are super impressed about this, but it's not like a normal five plus four twin stick. This doesn't require any skill to drive any trucker could hop in this and drive it. The stick on the far left is your four-speed main box the stick to the right of that is high low and then the stick on the other side of that is your splitter. This isn't all that impressive. It's just a different way of doing it. All those two sticks on the right do is move forward and back. You're not actually shifting anything. Their air powered switches connected to the bottom of a shift lever

    Yeah but you had a real triple stick. This one is just the four-speed main box on the left and then the middle stick is high low and then the far right stick is the splitter. All those two sticks do is move forward and back. He basically just moved a splitter and range selection switches to the bottom of those two sticks. It's still just a normal 18 speed

    @@erzahler1930 very rare would you have a 3 stick truck. If it was, it would be 1 for the main box, 2nd for the aux box, and 3rd for the 2 speed rear ends. That truck in the video is a 379. Not nearly old enough for a 3 stick. In the video is literally a guy who has taken the air switches off of the 18 speed and mounted them on a plate on the floor. It literally is only for show. An 18 speed never has and never will have more than one shift stick. Everything is done by air other than the main shift. You don't need to pull it out of gear when using the splitter. Once again, all for show.

    It’s an absolutely normal 18 speed, just with the range selector and splitter run by their own sticks. From viewpoint of the camera: Left stick is gear selector, middle stick is range selector, right stick it splitter. The range selector and splitter are normally small switches on your gear selector stick. They’ve just been given their own sticks for show.

    I used to work as a mechanic and would have to move an old Autocar 20 ton pole truck around sometime. It had three sticks and a thing that looked like a schoolbus door opener on it. Numerous knobs and switches on the dash and some levers. It was scary to even start it, always having to be sure that one of the three winches wasn’t in gear. That old truck is probably still on the road it was a beast.

    For those who don't get How this 3 stick shifting works... You must understand how Eaton Fuller transmission works and you'll get it on how it works The 1st stick is the gear selector itself and the other Sticks are the just basically HI/LOW splitters You can usually see those pitch selector switch embedded in Eaton Knobs but usually, they Just take out the knob and put the function on another stick to look like that It still function like a regular Eaton Fuller except, you have more sticks to twist Some truck Drivers likes to convert their trucks to Twin/3 stick rather than Single shifter to confuse the others But I'd still prefer The stock all knob if you're using it daily in long hauling

That's why my truck says , THE LEGEND, on it, we had some good times in the seventies and eighties driving long haul, i hauled for Batesville casket for years running from Indiana to Florida twice a week, running a hundred mph the entire way,me and my friend went non-stop and only stopped for food and gas and to switch places, of course you can't do that now but it was fun when you could , my wife passed away from Covid last year and she used to tell me that i would be changing gears laying in the bed asleep lol. Myeah it's easy to understand if you look at it close, the left most stick is for the gears in the regular 4-speed H pattern shifter, middle stick is the range, it shifts from 1-4 gears to 5-8 gears. The right most stick is the high-low stick, it shifts from low gear to high gear, for eg. 3low to 3 high. In effect, gear 1 high, which is the regular gear for taking off with no load is left stick in the middle and up, middle stick down and right stick up. Gear 7 low would be left stick to the right and up, middle up and right down. Edit: this is just a regular Eaton 18-speed with the range and splitters put onto separate sticks, normally they're small switches. There is actual twin sticks like the old Spicers, they're like 2 whole gearboxes, you'd shift gearbox 1 into a gear and then gearbox 2 would act as splitters sort of, you'd put 1 into gear 1 and then row through all the gears in gearbox 2, shift gearbox 1 into gear 2, row through everything in 2, 1 into 3 and row through 2, etc etc.

Set up looks cool and all, but tbh it's just the drivers preference, this is an owner op with alot of extra cash to pile into his truck, and all the power to him, the interior looks great. from my experience every 10 and 13 speed ive driven had em all one shifter and i find it more practical. functions are in one place. spiltter (middle) and hi-lo range selector (right) are both handled with air switches on the shift knob. Idk maybe I'm missing something, maybe I'm wrong. At the end of the day I've spent 6 years in my rig and maybe I'm just a little jelly I don't got what he's got 😅

Those 2 sticks on the right just go forward and back, not actually connected to a gear box just an air valve. So he's actually gone backwards technologically speaking

    It does look impressive but once you understand what everything does its not difficult. The first stick is the actual shifter. The second stick shifts from low to high range. The third stick is the low/high range for each gear or gear splitter. Today there are manual transmissions that are the same but everything is on one stick. Theres a lever on the stick that shifts from low range to high and a thumb button for splitting the gears. If you can drive a manual you can drive a split gear setup. Just takes a little practice. After a while you don't even have to think about it

    The first gear is normal - 1,2,3,4 and the second gear lets the first one take positions of 5,6,7,8 when it is down. The third gear is splitter, it splits each gear into two, so 8x2 = 16 gears + 1 HI lo and + 1 LO lo.

  • @porschelover04
    @porschelover046 ай бұрын

    I think I figured out exactly what's going on. The leftmost stick is a dogleg-pattern 5-speed, with 1st left and down. The middle stick is the range, which is in high when pushed forward. Then the right stick is the splitter, which is in its higher ratio when *pulled back*. So in order, he shifts: 1Lo - 2Lo - 3Lo - 2Hi - 2HiSp - 3Hi - 3HiSp - 4Hi - 4HiSp - 5Hi The rangebox and splitter are used while still in gear, and only activate when the main gearbox is shifted into neutral. This is why, in some cases, he uses the splitter, shifts into neutral, and then back in the same gear he was in.

    Generally you'll have overhead lights, headlights, running lights, trailer lights, axle front lock, axle rear lock, axle cross lock, Jake on/off, Jake high med low, engine fan override, rear air bag drop, wet kit control (if equipped) for like a side or belly dump, generally 2 spares in case of aftermarket lights. Hope that helps lol
