100%, Greg Wagland is the gold standard of Sir Conan Doyle audiobook narration! I love both Cumberbatch and Miller, I refuse to compare them either to each other or Sir Doyle's original character. To me, they are 3 brilliantly distinct and separate characters. Gatiss' 'Sherlock' made the character much more an abrupt brilliant sociopath (which Doyle's character never was), and Miller's 'Holmes' was more withdrawn than aloof and did the job of Americanisation of the character which popularised to their audience more effectively than ever before. They are both vastly different from the original character, but they are brilliantly entertaining. I just can't compare them because they are so different from the original 'canon'.

  • @Sybaris_Rex

@@lady_bexy That has me thinking of the idea of how someone would approach the idea of being Sherlock Holmes. Another actor that should be included in this is Hugh Laurie. Dr. House was yet another incarnation of Holmes.

Indeed ! But you can grab the subtle changes in Benedict Cumberbatch's voice when he reads John's part. He's slower than while playing Sherlock Holmes. His voice sounds a little less deeper. Sometimes the lines sounds melodic, sometimes you can hear him smile as he talks, he's more prone to all of emotions in general as John Watson. As for voicing Sherlock, however, you can hear that he's lines sounds a little more succincts, logical like. Even when prone to emotions, he sound a little more cold, and he's voice shift to something a little deeper et sometimes quicker. I'm amazed at his voice acting and acting skills and quite obsessed with Sherlock Holmes ! Sorry for the long paragraph, I would have loved to hear Martin Freeman's voice as John too ! Have a nice day/night

These are so awesome and so well performed. Spoilers for anyone who hasn't listened to all of them. I have a question about the 2nd story, if the doors of the train were locked, how did the thieves get inside to move the guard from coach 14 to coach 13? Unless they gave Mr. Masterson a key to the train but I feel like that would be weird for the railroad company to just hand out a key to the train. And also a question about the last story. How did Mr. Weeks get Jack's gun? I guess it doesn't really matter but it just seems weird to me to bring up as a detail, unless Beth was mistaken as to it being Jack's gun. Regardless the stories are superb!

This John Taylor does such an excellent job writing new Sherlock Holmes stories in the style of the original author (Arthur Conan Doyle) that everyone in the comments thinks they're classics haha 😂 Well played, sir

The American in the second story gives himself away by saying: "4 or 5 millions." Americans never say millions in that context.
