All I have ever had are shelties. They have all passed over the rainbow bridge, but I LOVE to see other shelties with for ever homes and families doing just about anything!!!

Beautiful groom! Hope the owner left a sizable tip. This groomer deserves it! Such a sweet dog too. BRAVO!❤

Beautiful groom ❤ Do you have any tips on how you cut their nails from the front and not worry about catching the quick? Thank you

Thank you! If you shine a torch under or over the nail when cutting it will be easier to see where the quick ends. Also best to take little bits rather than a big chunk if you’re unsure as you can always go back and take more off if needed 😊

Just a question on grooming this type of dog. I own a sheltie/spitz mix with the lions mane chest hair. Approx. 18 lbs. How close can I get him trimmed? Personally I don't like the long fur but I would never want to damage his coat or endanger him. Can he be taken down to 1 and a 1/2 inch safely or is that too short. Appreciate help!💕

Ah gorgeous mix! 😍 Ideally you don’t want to clip a double coated breed because their coat helps them to cool down in the Summer and keep warm in the Winter. Your best bet if you’re wanting him shorter is to have him scissor tidied shorter all over as clipping can damage the guard hair on the coat which can then also cause ‘coat funk’ and can cause issues with them regulating their temperature. That being said, I do have a couple double-coated dogs that I groom who get clipped for medical reasons and their coat has always grown back fine, it depends on the individual dog really! If you’re leaving 1 1/2” then that should be good as you’re not going down too short but just be aware that there’s a possibility it may cause his coat to grow back differently 😊🐾

@@gofetchgrooming I so much appreciate your response because I saw how professional you are! My little guy is sheltie/pom/spitz hairy mess! I'm older and prefer a shorter fur. But I adopted him as is so I want him to be comfortable but manageable too. Thank You so much for responding and God Bless You for your caring way. You are a treasure!

If you don't like long fur, you shouldn't have a Sheltie or Sheltie mix.

It’s a lot of hard work to brush a Sheltie coat with all that hair, easy to miss bits without the proper technique! They do struggle to keep on top of it sometimes 🐾

You butchered that Sheltie. Ears and paws are all that should be trimmed.
