Small correction: Shell Cordovan is not skin or hide, it is the connective tissue just under the hide. It is closer to muscle than skin. That is part of the reason it has different properties than hide, and also why it has no pebbly grain.

@@pegasusmotorcycletours If you have ever seen a horse shake its skin to get rid of flies, i believe this is the muscle that does it. One other reason it is desirable for shoes is it stretches equally in all directions, cowhide stretches better one way that the other.
