Such a great book. It's like he's the leopard from the book, who after re incarnating as a human, decided to tell Maali's story.

A great novel - very deserving of the Booker Prize.
Gobbled up the second half in one afternoon. Such an interesting read. Having spent quite a lot of time in SL in the early 2000's, I found this book really intriguing.

8:11 The reappearing leopard ghost reminds me of the spirit of Kuveni who reappears, in King Vijaya's (her former husband) dreams as well as King Panduwasdew's dreams, as a leopard in the Kohomba Kankariya ritual of the Kandyan dance tradition of Sri Lanka.

I appreciate the achievement of winning the Booker. But I find it more than coicidental that lately for many recent winners of writing awards like the Pultizer, the National Book Award and the Booker, these stories have gay protagonists. While it is long overdue that the LGBTQ community is finally getting a voice, that voice seems to be suddenly predominant in a world where the voices of many non-gay communities of different ethnicities is still not being heard. Why is that? It would appear that writers now understand that to become noticed for major awards, there needs to be a gay protagonist/gay sub-plot involved in the story. I hope that is not the case but I am not sure.
