Sheep Creek Truck Trail - The Devil's Backbone | San Bernardino National Forest

It was 103 degrees for Labor Day Weekend, so we headed up to Lytle Creek and higher elevation to cool off. Once again our attempt to go up the back road to Mt. Baldy was not to be, but we ended up having a great day exploring Sheep Creek Truck Trail and "The Devil's Backbone."

This looks like a fun trip. Would you say these trails are doable with a Subaru Forester Wilderness? From what I can tell it doesn't look too gnarly.

Yes, with a couple of caveats. 1) If you cross the creek, like I did, you will likely have issues with clearance and there are lots of big rocks. If you stay on the north side of the creek (2:36 onward) you are fine. 2) If it rains, the creek can flood. There is a storm this weekend, always be aware that a dry creek bed can become a river very quickly.
