Yeah the Mattel deluxe one does so why not THE limited edition?

I’m really surprised they didn’t add any rhinestones to this doll. That seems to be a default inclusion on the limited edition dolls. I think she looks really good overall, but they could have added some beading to the bra or even sequins like on the tail. Compared to other LE dolls, I don’t think $150 for her is as justified.

Some people's doll looked fine. This one looks like she been through it. She's gorgeous but they should have put more effort in for 150$ I always feel like if things are expensive, they look so good that even non collectors would want to splurge on them.

Play line is where it’s at right now

I know I shouldn't need it, but thanks for giving me permission to not feel bad about not wanting to spend the huge amount of money it would take for me to ship this girl to Canada. FOMO is real. I have the deluxe Mattel doll on order, and that will probably do me just fine. Also, I relate to what you said about scaling back on purchases. I have only been collecting since the end of 2020, and I already feel that way. I kind of look at it as an inevitability. Once you have a lot of dolls, the chances that something comes out that is really different or vastly better than what you already have goes down. I also play/buy hobby board games, and people in that community talk about the same phenomenon. There will always be the people who can afford to and/or are actually addicted to buying in excess of what they can actually use/appreciate, but I don't think that's something to strive for.

I love all of the extra detail on the fins. My favorite Ariel in this line is the Mattel basic Ariel. I wish the other fins were as detailed as that one.

As someone who longs for the days past of $100 limited edition dolls with rhinestones, embroidery, extra details, etc there’s a lot of things I wish they did more with this doll, especially for $150, but the number one sin that really turns me away from this doll is that for one hundred and fifty dollars, they had the audacity to give the poor girl POLYPROPYLENE HAIR. FOR A COLLECTOR DOLL?! Imagine spending that much money so you can watch her hair disintegrate over the course of a decade

I really wish they had her whole head in locs not just half of it-it makes it look like they were too scared to commit to giving her a fully Black protective hairstyle and just made it this weird half straight half locked hairstyle

Maybe they've considered the Dinglehopper hair brushing scene, because it would look not right with full locks as those hairstyles require special combs

Whoo hoo!! Sequins are the best. This is a pretty doll but what is going on with her painted belly? Not a fan of that. It's amazing that we have come to accept imperfections on a $150 doll. There is no longer a perfect doll but at least at the play line level you don't feel so bad. This is not a doll I am going to get but you're right, she is not that bad. I know you are a huge fan of mermaid dolls and Ariel in particular so I am happy for you being able to add her to your collection. Grad school, congratulations.

I moved last summer and the summer two years ago and also had to confront packing my art studio and book collection. I started doll collecting a bit a year ago and had to pack my RH and bjds. Definitely made me think about how much stuff I own. It's fine to slow down and enjoy what you have. I'm currently trying to use up my stash of crafting supplies and not buy any more dolls for a year, and bond with my centaur bjd beauties.

Yeah I can understand that deeply

Even though this doll is not worth the price to me (especially with shipping and a damn UPS brokerage fee to Canada), I don't fault the people who buy her. Yes, she should be better for the price, but also so much of the value of doll is the memories/emotions they conjure. So, there is objective value and personal value, and that is an individual thing. I just don't want people to second-guess their joy because others are telling them they are dumb and crazy for spending that much. My spouse thinks every single doll I own is a waste of money, and I think we can both be right from different vantage points.

Lmao the free on Disney plus is still too much. Killed me.

I just got mine today from downtown Disney and I think she’s a little pricey but definitely worth it if u love The little mermaid

As just a random Joe off the street, gay man who doesn't collect dolls and am honestly a little jaded with the live-action Disney reboots, I couldn't see the $150 price tag being justified here. Think I got this in my recommendations cause I used to watch this creator who unboxed anime/Sailor Moon dolls and a lot of them as a collector's item just seemed so much more well-made and delicate than something like this that just seems like a big Barbie doll. Maybe its just a difference between Western and Japanese 'collector's dolls'? (I know this Ariel was Made in China, but its marketed to a Western demographic).

That stand was the bane of my existence trying to pose her without her falling over!

I do find interesting the different opinions about Ariel. It's cool to hear what other collectors like and dislike. I agree with Joey with the tail, but I think it is nice to see different versions of the tail and the details in the doll.💫

Shes gorg but NOT 150. Like 150 isnt justifiable in any way. Poly hair (basically disentigrates over the year), bald spots, wooven bag that cant actually hold anything cuz it kept sliding out the holes, innacurate less layered fin. Change the proce to $90-$100 max then she would be fine. We are still paying for its exclusivity or limitedness

The singing doll has a on and off switch on her side. Had no idea till I watched another review of her. I am so glad I could shut that off cause every time I touched her she went off and it got old very quickly 😂

You're Right...but at $150----ALL the plastic should be the Same shade--her arms don't seem to match her torso..??? I hope it looks better in person...

This is my first 17” and it was jolting how big it is in person. I missed out on the 30th, so this $150 compared to $1000 was nice. Hope the moving process ain’t too rough!

The tallest dolls I have are Gene dolls which are 15 in. The thing is a lot of my inbox collector Barbies take up more space than my two Gene dolls.

Yes, I got the 17" Snow White recently, and she is a honking thing, especially since I would feel bad getting rid of the box. I'm actually kind of glad I got that doll because the size and storage requirements is part of what made me decide not to get this Ariel.

@@iamsoverybored878 A couple of times I thought I was going to have to sell dolls or rent out a storage space, but I was able to get so many unboxed Barbies in a storage tote. Sometimes I cut out the back of the boxes just so I can keep the artwork or photos but in flat form.

I just caught up with your reviews, and I'm so glad I did. She's really pretty! I love all of the dolls that are coming out for this movie. I'm trying not to buy too many new dolls (since moving three times in a year made me realize just how much stuff I had to pack up each time), so I understand going on hiatus from collecting. I only bought one new one this year (the Disney ILY faces were just too cute to completely pass up). Good luck with your schooling!

I enjoy the fins. Joey seems pretty cool, in that you can disagree with him and he's interested in that. I guess some people still want the cartoony princessy style, but I like the realism. That spray painted midriff is wild though. I also get the needing to slow down on things, we'll still enjoy your content.

“Oh..! Look at that, kids! We have a cute little bald spot! How slay!?” That made me cackle…. Like ugly out loud cackle. Like….. I had to get quiet to see if anyone heard that noise I made just now. Then I resumed the vid and then the “let’s get her undressed!” Made me make another loud gay noise. And I consider myself masc.. (yes I know, toxic) but I do collect (or did collect when had money, so, preach, daddy) dolls. That noise may have been the gayest sound I’ve ever made. Like stereotype gay squeak. You have me being gay af every video I watch of you. And I’m honestly here for it. You’ve made me make noises in the duration of this vid I didn’t know I made. Congrats 🎉 Slay Also, don’t feel bad about taking any doll break. I know you’ve mentioned before about it, and I SUPER understand. I had a great job before the covid nation attacked. The way I burnt through that money on new collector dolls and amazing 90’s dolls on eBay… oof. Also, the two other gay guys that hate eachother hits too lol. If ever in Vegas, or plan to visit, hit me up. Would be nice to chill with another doll gay for a bit haha.

I watch both you and Joey (big fan of you both as well) for similar reasons to be fair and one of them is to assess these dolls. I’m a big little mermaid fan too, and I’m looking forward to collecting some of these, but I’m going to be a little more selective due to budget etc. (cost of living, and what not thankfully this will be all around my birthday though ha ha) I really don’t think this is worth $150 (£120.50) to me. The only upgrades are her head sculpt (bald spot non-withstanding), the bag, and the articulation in her limbs, other than that it wouldn’t be calling it the collectors edition compare to the playline

I think Halle Bailey doesn't sell out like crazy then the 1991 Ariel because of some people are soooooo use to the Orginal Ariel and Having purple seashell top, The green tail also she had the bright red hair orrrr, She didn't get notice to much to sell out quickly, Which is a good idea because, If she sold out very quick on shop Disney, Some people who actually want her, Doesn't have to rush with thier money, or maybe, They waited for Halle Bailey (TLM) to go on sale :)

The LE doll looks pretty - especially in the green dress! *I wish they would have added some more decorative elements to her top or had some pretty jewels in her hair. However, I LOVE what you did to the play line doll! She looks super cute!! 😍

She's definitely gorgeous but $100 would be more than fair for her. Over that it's a no for me. I'll stick with the playline doll. But I'm happy you got her

I love mine. She was kinda bald too lol. I brushed it out and her hair became poofy as hell! So I had to wet her hair and flat iron section by section took a whole hour! 😂. And 2 of her locks fell out which seems like it wasn’t rooted in properly. 😒🤦🏻‍♂️They also messed up on the spray paint on her belly and other minor things and it’s nit picky of me but yeah it’s cuz it’s $150 plus tax 😢. I’m not mad about it lol I like the simplicity of it actually. Still love it.

I'm a life long Little Mermaid super fan and even I couldn't bring myself to drop 150 on that limited edition doll. I just do not like it for that price. Maybe if it was her in the wedding dress or something but this is too simple for 150.

I bought her, actually bought two. And this is my FIRST limited edition doll of any kind. And I’m so happy she is. I love Ariel so much 😭. But with the whole fishy tail “debate”, I usually HATE super fishy tails with a whole bunch of fins. But god damn Ariel’s tail got me rethinking that. I absolutely love her tail and this dolls fins are beautiful!!! Especially those back fins 😍. Anyways love the review and love you ofc ofc 🙏🏻🙄🐀❤️

Okay, wow, good luck in grad school!!! That will take a lot of your time so make content when you’re able to and know your subscribers will watch whatever and whenever you make them 😄 I did watch the Peter Pan and Wendy movie, it’s not the worst Disney movie but you’re right, it’s dull and I don’t know if kids would watch it (that being said, the live action Tinker Bell doll is truly gorgeous). The 17” Ariel’s face sculpt looks so much better in that size than the playline. Ughhhh so many tags, how annoying, I mean I get why they do that but it does suck for out of box collectors. Wow does she look gorgeous in the green dress!!

The green spray paint on her midriff gives me Barbara Eden in "I Dream if Jeannie" vibes, where they had to fill in her belly button for censors. Also I don't like the side fins, like Beauty Inside a Box. It's been awhile since I watched you talking about the Ursula doll, but I feel like you said you didn't like the jacket, and neither do I. And I feel like it's the same thing: side fins, covering Ursula's arms/décolleté, and prob worst of all, covering King Triton's décolleté 😹🧜‍♀️🧜🧜‍♂️

Expect, Mattel did her dirty and gave her the weird skirt tail that they seem to love to give their mermaid dolls with fabric tail. I wanted her until I saw a review and saw that her feet is poking out and the fin only hides them like a blanket on the front.

Wow I would return the doll. It has so many flaws. They couldn't include any other items for the price? Her hair is too short and not red enough! I know, complain, complain. But seriously. I wish they could send you a replacement and they pay for shipping. Maybe they think that most people wont open this "collector doll" so they can get away with a chipped up product? I don't know, very disappointed though very happy you opened it!......grumble...grumble...

I will never spent more than 40 euros for a doll, despite the fact that i looove pretty dolls (well, as a lesbian, it seems logical...). Hugs from Paris.

I'm so jelly. I want her. I love her, but that belly paint is so bad. While she do have the fading in the movie, its not that high and not that green. The fading in the movie pretty much end below her belly button, where a bikini bottom usually ends. The fading in the movie also has a purple hint to it. I kinda hate that the doll looks like she was attacked with a spray can on her belly. And they couldnt even connect it to her underwear. And it also seems like the gape between the paint and the underwear varieties between dolls. Not a fan of the paint. Imo, the doll is not worth $150. I also feels that she lacks the details that made previous 17" LE dolls stand out. The top is pretty much a bigger version of the playline top. While the tail is beautiful, it feels very playline. Even though I'm very disappointed it the outcome, I still want her as I do love Ariel. I even used to own the original VHS (Swedish dub) that I got as a child. Only Ariel doll I haven't been in love with, is the adultified version Mattel released many years ago. Bc that doll imo didnt look like an innocent 16 yo, it looked like a 25 yo AV actress. I remember hearing that Mattel aged up her look bc Karens complained the doll looked to childish and promoted the P word, but dont quote me on that. She was a beautiful doll, but she wasnt Ariel imo. Good luck with the move etc Love from Sweden.
