I didn't went to prom. My crush had a boyfriend and my female friends already had partners, in fact all my classmates had partners. I asked a friend from another school but she already had plans for the night. But it wasn't a surprise though, I knew nobody wanted me to go, I was never part of that class. But it was fine, I didn't want to spend time with people who didn't want me around. If I'd wanted to feel undesirable, I'd have stayed home with my narcissistic mother who didn't even lived with me back then. My dad who was the only parent for me, was working and my friends from other schools were also in their proms. I lived in the country back then, and the closest neighbors were far from my house. So I walked through a little swamp area that was in front of my house at the opposite side of the road, and headed to the old watering channel. I sat at the bank of the channel and cried for like two continuous hours. I even thought about jumping into the water and let the current drown me. I was depressed already and that situation hit me really hard. I didn't jump obviously, I'm still here, even though I rather not be. Back then I had some hope that college would be better. But it wasn't. It's been 12 years since that, and now I wish I had jumped into the water. Since then everything has gone down the hill for me. I miss the hope I had back then.

True story, no cares, but it tis therapeutic for me xD. I started going to this new school and I met the most beutiful girl I have ever seen, finallaly worked up the courage to ask for her number before christmas break. We started texting, and I thought things were going smooth, so I stayed up till 3 in the mornig drawing a big poster with her favorite animal, a polarbear, and it said, will you go to prom with me?. I also got her favorite flowers. To my dismay she turned me down because she was going with her "guy friend" who is the biggest dush bag. And we tried staying as friends for a while, until i think he eventually told her to delete me on sc. Big sad boy hours

It was eighth grade and my date, who said they were gonna buy me flowers, was kissing someone else (their first kiss) while I cried for an hour in the parking lot while my friend tried to console me. I ran home when it ended, not wanting to confront someone to ask for a ride. It was dark and I was alone and cold, but by then I was used to it

Sometimes the KZread algorithm can be eerily accurate. I think I got here because of all the anime clips.

I saw a few other people posting stories to here soooooooo . .. .... I went to my 8th grade end-of-the-year prom thingy. I didn't GO with anyone, but me and a few friends met up there. I was the first one there, so I waited off to the side waiting for the bois. At this point, I should describe what I was wearing. I had my semi-long hair back in a pony tail, with glasses on. (Gotta see am I right-) I also had a plain white button up shirt, with black khakis on. But the main thing was a purple tie, with painted on lilacs. I painted them on, because my friend Jenna had died the a few months before I got it, and so I wanted to dedicate something to her. I wasn't over dressed, but I noticed a lot of people were. I just thought that they wanted to impress their SO, so i ignored it. While I was waiting, a group of kids in my grade walked up to me. I'm a shy, 5"4 male, so when a group of 4, 5"8 guys walked up to me in a dark, loud room, while my back was to a corner, I will admit I was S C A R E D. I was mentally preparing myself to get the crap beat out of me. But instead of getting beat to a pulp, one of the guys grabs my arm, and drags me to the middle of the room. Hm. Do you see where this is going? One of the guys grabs the punch bowl, and pours it over my head. I, out of instinct, run to the bathroom to try and clean most of it off. Buuuuut white button up shirts stain really easily. I was a sticky, pink, crying mess. I sat in the bathroom for, maybe 20-30 minutes, trying frantically to clean myself off before just falling down, crying. After a good 15 minutes of crying, one of my friends who I was waiting for, came into the bathroom, and called out to someone following him. My 3 friends all came rushing in, and asked what was wrong. i told them, and they were trying to comfort me, while also cursing the guy's names out. After a while, Mr. Brightside started blaring through the speakers outside of the bathroom, and we all just kinda stop for a sec. And then my friend who found me asked to dance. I said yes. Then my other two friends started to dance with each other. We were laughing and being energetic teens. As the song faded out, my friend leaned down AND KISSED ME U#RFHVOEUQRHV He just kinda laughed it off, and said sorry, but I kissed him back. AND THAT'S HOW I GOT A BOYFRIEND. TLDR: Bullies pour punch on me, and I get a boyfriend. Thanks random bullies.

I remember they played mr brightside at my prom, this could have hapend to someone.

Sir Squeaks A Lot I threw my own prom in the local library Just me, my then boyfriend, my sister, her boyfriend who was my best friend, my first crush who is also one of my best friends, and his date. A bunch of librarians. We did a 1940’s theme for the whole thing and watched Casablanca. We also got a professional photographer

And I’m sure there are many males that can attest to similar experiences. Stereotypes exist for a reason. You might not have, personally. Or you might think otherwise, despite having done exactly what I stated. You should talk to some of your exes, to see how they viewed the deterioration of the relationship through the lens of hindsight. It might be enlightening. ‘Cuz you are just as biased as I am, with the rose-tinted shades. Everybody is. We always think it was the fault of the other person, all the while failing to acknowledge our own faults that may have been causal in the breaking up of the union.

Alan Heyes damn dude speak for yourself. There are plenty of people who are self aware enough to know when they cause problems in a relationships. In fact taking a step back and asking yourself “what does my SO want from me? What does she need most?” Is a good way to self examine. You could buy her gifts, take her out to dinner, have a lot of money and even have good sex, but if youre lacking in say, listening to her problems, or giving her a supporting hand then she’ll find someone else who will. That being said, i dont know your situation, she could be a cheater for the sake of being a cheater. She could be too immature or narcissistic to handle a grown relationship. Either way if thats the case, you walk away and dont let one shitty person determine the rest of your love life. Its okay to be bitter and its okay to hurt but you take it in stride and embrace your emotions

I remembered breaking down in the bathroom durring the one and only prom i ever went too. Such a fun time but she just made it so terrible, ruined everything for me and the next day was when i blocked her for good. I wish i never had remembered that but at the same time im glad i can see how ive grown since then

When I was 17 years old I worked up the courage to ask my crush of 2 years to my senior prom. She excitedly said yes and I was on top of the world. She would bring it up all the time and seemed happy. After a night of hanging out with my friends at a local spring festival I heard she was with another guy. I shrugged it off and kept my hopes high. As it got closer to the night she started returning my text slower and would try to change the topic when I would ask her about prom related shit. My parents were both excited because it was there oldest kids first prom so I played along even tho I was hurting. We took pictures, walked in together, and laughed with some friends, and the night was going ok. But she was constantly looking at her phone and wouldn't make eye contact. When time for the first dance came she told me she was sorry she couldn't do this and that her mom was outside and left me on that dancefloor alone. Leaving me to explain to my friends what happened. I cried driving home alone that night and even as an almost 21 year old man it still stings a little. Since then though I've met some amazing girls and had some even more amazing experiences and life moved on. If you're reading this upset or alone know that life moves on man. Just keep going ✌

This happened to me before minus the music but I did cry in the bathroom. Later some random guys came in the bathroom and helped me cheer up just a little bit. Still talk to them every once in a while, good guys all around

We all have our own way of feeling this song. Mine is that my store that I worked at played this song every time I worked so it makes me feel like I’m at the mall during a busy Saturday hearing the speakers blast this to a bunch of different types of people in the mall.

Damn..I was getting annoyed at how these videos are getting popular “after only watching one. That was about a kid crying in his room while Mr. Brightside plays and his parents are arguing about getting a divorce.” But this one really and quickly got me in the feels..mostly because there isn’t anyone crying at all. It’s left to your imagination really with the muffled song.. I appreciated that
