I think a better way to say it is that your superficial feelings or fears should not take priority over disciplined habits that are a net positive. Sometimes you should rest but don't let your mind's natural inclination for the path of least resistance stop you from overcoming goals. It will stoop even your own brain. Sometimes that fear is justified and sometimes it isn't. It's just clinging to the easier thing.
