The good thing about what she's doing is more and more people like her and me, and even you are finding cheaper simpler ways to live. This is living proof you don't have to pay high rent and kill yourself. 23 jobs just to work work. Work cause we live in a hustle culture catalystic mentality. We can avoid that by downsizing and live in simple and be happy. Just like me, her and you and others like us.

Again, smart lady. She's got the basics and she's going to see what she needs as she goes instead of possibly wasting money.

Yes. Joan has a great plan

In Australia camping was a regular school trip in the 70's and 80's for me. We learnt so much and it was fun exploring the wildlife and many camping how-to's. Many ppl live in amazing vehicles and travel Australia for a better life. Thank you again 🌷💖

The first thing I would do is put insulation in. Besides helping with the temperature, it would help with the sound when trying to sleep.

I like her thought process.. Her trailer is her home base and the van is for traveling although she does have the capacity to easily move her home base location if she decides she needs or wants to. She would be the perfect candidate to buy a piece of land once she decides to settle down to put her home base at that it truly would be hers.

I like your van very much. Lots of room. Most van dwellers find condensation to be a real challenge without adequate insulation and ventilation, i.e., high quality weather encased 2-way ceiling fan to draw outside air in or out as you travel. You will figure out what’s best for your situation. You might consider having the interior walls and ceiling spray foamed for insulation since you have very few windows. For the floor you could use a good vapour barrier (6 mil plastic) covered with a carpet. Lots of cold air comes through metal floors. Wish you well. Your idea of having a home base is the way to go. Had not considered that as an option.

I think as summer hits she may need insulation unless she is at a very high altitude.

I saw something called "Second Skin" roof insulation. It's meant for the inside of uninsulated car (I guess if you have a shell of a car you're building out and van roofs. It's a bit pricey. But I'm looking to see how I can make it myself. Maybe get some remnant fleece from a fabric store (or a blanket) and just use strong magnets like they sell for ppl to hang stuff inside of cruise ship cabins. I can see me doing that and putting fairy lights up, but then again, I don't have a cat that might get tangled up. I think a makeshift, lighweight felt blanket(s) might work. Goodwill often has them unopened for a few bucks. ~Love the content and giving so many great options🚐☁️☁️

I’m living in my Dodge Grand Caravan now, my plans are also to get a Chevy Express Cargo. I want a sliding slide door with no side windows. The Chevy is more durable, I would definitely insulate mines.

I have never read the Zohar, but i did take several classes in Kabballa at the Center in Los Angeles many years ago. Fascinating

So sorry for the seniors being priced out of a secure home.

She should really check her tire ratings before she pulls out because with the van build, that van weight will affect the tire rating and tow capacity of her vehicle by quite a bit. I would be nervous too but it doesn't sound like she is going very far. I drive a truck and trailer and travel with very little to keep the weight off my vehicle and the hitch.

She didn't say where she stores her trailer in the summer?

For the longterm BLM sites you pay $180 for the season Sept 15 to April 15. If you aren'tbself contained you have to stay at certain sites and within so many feet of the bathrooms.

How much do a car like this cost

Actually, I don't think installation makes that much difference because when it's summer time your Van's gonna be extra hot when it's cold. Your Van's going to be extra cold, could I live out to marijuana part-time and it's well insulated and it's still cold in the wintertime and still hot in the summer time so I don't think it makes a difference. I think it doesn't lick a bit different but not real that much.
