Zachary Levi (Shazam!, Chuck) goes deep into his mental health journey this week, opening up about his realization of just how ‘ungood’ he was despite the accomplishments and great things happening in his life.
Zach goes on to share his newfound understanding for the dopamine he received by working and how during this pandy he’s had a more clear realization of just how much self worth he receives from his career.
We also get into the super power of vulnerability, keeping perspective of your own mental health, and Zach’s take on his position in the DC Universe.

Fun Fact, Zachary Levi is the only actor to be in Marvel Universe, DC Universe, Disney Universe, Star Wars Universe. Also, The VGHS Universe, Halo, Fall Out, Robot Chicken and Lego Universe. Pissed me off when they killed him off so easily in Ragnarok. Been a fan since Chuck days.

Yup. I feel this so freaking hard. I have had to get multiple root canals. Literally and figuratively. Also, I ended up in the ER once because I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out I was having my first (but definitely not the last) panic attack, and I was so embarrassed and ashamed, but the doc was the best, because he assured me that it was a real, physical thing that was happening to me and it wasn't just "in my head."

When this whole pandemic thing is officially over, I would love to see these two together at any convention while explaining the power of Empathy aka Pathos. 💕 Even meeting them in person, of course, I wanna give those two a group hug 🫂, I can tell they’re the best huggers ever!

@@InsideOfYouPodcast this one was a bit of a breakthrough for me “I get almost all of my dopamine from work” was the sentence that opened a window for me there. That just blew my mind. I’ve been struggling for a while and just pushing it down inside, hearing people talk like you do Michael is always helpful, but that sentence from Zach just clicked a piece of the puzzle into place for me. Helping people and being successful at work has always been a driving force in my life, and the change in how I work has really pushed that feeling away from me. I see now that I need to find a new way to achieve that so that I have new dopamine pathways. One sentence in the last 2-3 years has been the most effective thing I’ve heard. Really identified with what Zach was saying about depression feeding negative thoughts and making you interpret things that happen through a negative lens. What an interesting and genuine dude. I only knew Zach from Shazam. Very likeable and transparent guy. Your interviews are so insightful Michael and continue to show not everyone in Hollyweird is an @$$hole. Great job guys! 👍👍

Wonderful episode! Zach definitely touched on some things that hit home for me. 2020 turned my world upside and I'm still trying to find my way back. All while dealing with my own anxiety and depression. It's been hard.

Mr. Levi, thank you for being so articulate, you're saying exactly the things that I've started to recognize and understand, at a very advanced age. I've loved every minute of this.

Wow. Amazingly powerful and candid episode. Could really relate to Zach. I have a family member that is bipolar and we have had many talks about the importance of understanding the biochemistry behind it. I am so glad he came on..hope you both realize what great people you are and are worthy of being loved. ❤️

This is a great one- love the guests you have had on recently! And yes, FB and any social media is watching what we are viewing- I had to recently change my FB security setting to restrict their viewing my off FB activity. If you have not u checked that- they watch, and you need to clear your history. So glad you both share what help works for your mental and emotional support! Thanks for that! These podcasts are extremely helpful to us, as well as let us know you and your guests struggle as we all do. We are all human and need to support one another💜

I tried every natural supplement for 3 years, didn't work. I tried 4 different medications and finally found one that worked for me. Prozac wigged me out after 2 days, I couldn't handle it. You need to be open to trying different things until you find something that fits. It takes time but the time is worth it to be an advocate for your own health.

So many nuggets of pure gold have been gleaned from this episode. Thanks, guys, for sharing your honesty with us. As someone who has struggled with mental health - especially anxiety - Zachery's pearls of wisdom are exactly the kind of information, I need to hear right now. In fact, I can relate to much of what he expressed (being work-centric, not loving oneself, etc.) and will now reconsider how I can apply small steps in making things somewhat more optimistic. Thanks again, and stay safe.

Thank you so much for bringing attention to mental health problems and de-stigmatizing them. It helps to know that people like you, Zachary Levi, & Brandon Routh, people who on the outside seem like they have it made, also struggle with depression and anxiety!

As a fellow empath the only solace in such an angry world is the fact that I've been quarantined in Michigan. I don't think I could stand to be in a crowded theatre or concert with people as fractured as we all are these days. I love these deep dive episodes with Michael and Zach and always learn so much from them.

Zachary Levi continues to amaze me! I love how totally open and raw he is without being judgemental, just straight up and real, talking about all the things that most folks shy away from because of as he says the "stigma". Humans are much more complex than most people realize and there are many ways in which we need to address how we care for ourselves. Thanks as always Rosey for bringing great guests to the podcast and getting into the nitty gritty showing listeners that we're all human, we all have problems and that we can all learn from one another. Much love and respect! 💝

I love this podcast. Really helpful. I have depression and anxiety. I've run away from it (like everyone tried to do) but I'm so glad I accept help and listened to my doctor and took medication recommended as if helped me out of a bad situation. (Note everyone different listen to your doctor). Glad you both are so open. makes people feel more ok to discuss it. I still don't like talking about depression and anxiety. Had to have a few days off work for depression and ashamed to tell them and worried it would change their perception of me. Also felt bad as short staff due to covid. But everyone was supported and didn't care of change their perception of me. Also thought I needed to add. KZread is a bit of my dopamine. Literally have to watch it before bed. Thanks again for being so open and sharing.
