That’s one thing I like about Music.. It’s where Artists can express feelings/thoughts all from the heart and in that process it helps them get it out and helps the fans relate/get through it to.. Music gives us their vulnerable side (their human side and not their “show” side) I definitely prefer emotional songs to dance music, it’s 100x better

This song to me means something entirely different. I know it’s intended as a break up song but it takes me back to when my son was on the icu when he first was diagnosed with cancer. He had necrosis in his throat from sepsis and was having life threatening bleeds, needing tonnes of blood transfusions. I sat by his side and said if he wanted to go he can go if he needs to. If it will bring him peace and end suffering. Don’t fight just for my advantage. “If you tell me you’re leaving, I’ll make it easy, it’ll be okay. If we can’t stop the bleeding, we don’t have to fix it, we don’t have to stay. I will love you either way”. This validates my emotions so deeply from that time. My sons ok now and still on chemo and it’s looking very good for him. The trauma is still there and this song brings me such comfort. More than a break up song x

You can tell there’s a lot of respect between the two. This song isn’t a teenage breakup song, full of anger and bad mouthing the ex in the lyrics. It’s sad, but calming and loving at the same time. There’s no details about the problem in the relationship, but you still can understand the pain. "I will love you either way" only proves how pure and mature he is. This is so real. Sometimes those that are in love have differences that they cannot work out. They both still love the other, but are unable to fix the hurt or problems, the differences between. Good Friday last year this song was played at our church service… I still don’t really understand why except for that even when we leave God He still loves us

It depends on situation. They ended their relationship on good terms and it was a mutual decision ig. That's why the song is respectful. If things were different, if there was some infidelity involved or something else he would've written it differently. So you can't say that most people diss their exes in their songs. Sometimes a song isn't about what the artiest intended it to be. Sometimes it becomes something more powerfully, something profound. Something everyone can take what they need, make it their own. This may have been a song between him and his relationship. However, for some it's much more then a relationship between two people who love each other. Rather just a relationship that has ran it's course, even if it's just with yourself. ("it was an amazing ride, but this is where I get off"). Without going into details, this song came into my youtube playlist at the right time. Thank you Shawn Mendes for an amazing piece of artwork!!

The song is so beautifully written. Amid the breakup news, this is -obviously- about that. What i get from it, is a level of maturity "If we can't stop the bleeding, we don't have to fix it, we don't have to stay". They love each other but not as intensively as in the beginning and the dark moments were probably more common than the good moments as of late. Although he loves her, he will not stay or try to fix it, if they're on different paths at this point. They may need this break , just to get their minds straight. The line "The future we had dreamed of, is fading to black" is so gut wrenching: when you love someone really deeply , you imagine a future with that person, and when love fades away, the harsh moment when you realize, the future you had imagined with that person, is also out the window.

So, on the basis that sluts move on and "mature people" fix their problems, if a person is being abused by their partner, and they have the chance to leave, (because more than often they don't.) They're supposed to stay and try to fix those problems? The book definition of a slut is a person who has casual partners. A casual partner as in their not in any sort of serious relationship and know they're seeing other people. Sometimes you want to fix it, but they already moved on long before they wanted to break up at all. Some things aren't worth saving. It's blatantly disrespectful to call someone a slut just because they decided to leave instead of staying in a relationship with someone who didn't want to be in one anymore. They can always get back together if BOTH SIDES OF THE RELATIONSHIP agree to it. It's toxic to try and force someone to try and work things out in their relationship. Now, seeing the type of person you are, you're gonna respond in 1 of 3 ways. 1. You lose the point of my comment and just start insulting me and saying I'm defending him because I'm a 16 year old girl who's in love, when that isn't true. 2. You ignore this message completely. Or 3. You go to the absolute extreme and do something uncalled for. And fyi, unless you know what it's like to lie awake at night crying and wondering if something's wrong with you because of what they said, if they'd be better with someone else because they nitpick every single thing you do, ignore you indefinitely just because you wanted to help them. To be broken down and feel like you don't deserve love. Then don't call anyone a slut. So yes, we leave, and I guess alot of people are sluts by your definition. I'm sorry about whoever hurt you, but that doesn't give you an excuse to hurt anyone else. In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

This song nails perfectly what getting out of a relationship that's slowly falling apart feels like. The process of trying to fix everything up and failing over and over again, putting effort into someone and something that don't want to change or be helped. Sometimes we just can't stop the bleeding even though it's our biggest desire to make it work. Going from "I can't imagine a world without you" to "I start to imagine a world where we don't collide", that's the hardest part of it, acknowledging that there's nothing else we can do to save it. The future we've dreamed of is fading to black and we shall let go. That's harsh. Really beautiful break up song, unlike all the others, it gives us hope and motivation for the long and hard process of healing that's about to come
