The themes and vr are cool, but they changing your psn name shouldnt even be a feature that had to be added.

They didn't let PS users do either for ages.

What I think you'll do is you can change your gamertag once for free and then you'll have to wait about 2 months or even more to change it again. Like KZread for example you could change it then you'll have to wait about a month to change your name again

You can do that already. You can just hide the game away from the list.

Changing ID is a very simple concept, any half-decent coder or logician will be able to come up with an algorithm that will allow users to change their ID. Most algorithms will work depending on whether or not PlayStation have used the correct data structures.

SNYPZ HDG Technically Sony was going to give people the option awhile but the players wanted Avatars, Themes and customizable backgrounds and even when the switch came from ps3 to ps4 people wanted Avatars over a name change again so yeah.

How is it that difficult if Microsoft has had it for years on the 360 and xbone? Hell steam allows you to change your game ID as many times as you'd like. Sure your steam ID is permanent but still.

Quinn Whiteley Well actually it is difficult. When Sony were setting up the network, whoever was engineering incorrectly coded the ID process. From what I can gather, you can change your name if you call up Sony. But you would lose all of your trophy history and I think even your purchases. I'm not entirely sure how and why but it's a complete mess. I guess they hired incompetent engineers back in the day.

You kinda answered your own questiin, your psn is equivilent to a steam id and username combined they are not independent unlike steam, xbox and the switch. So it is a lot harder to enable since it is an id change

Please for the love of god, can we also be able to change our country of origin as well. I was moving to Australia from New Zealand, which I'm now not able to change, cannot purchase anything on this account of mine that I use. Super pumped for the name change though!

Blizzard's battletags system is still the best. If only Sony would implement something like that.

I just got a PS4 and next year the PSX comes out...feels bad

They should make people switch into a different account altogether to basically “rebuild” all accounts in a simple way so as to streamline the process.

CRAZY6256 thats Sony's fault for designing their system that way. Look at Steam. Not only can you look up on a friend's history of past aliases and pseudonames, you can even personally label them (for your reference only), so you can easily keep track of their dozen name changes

Not necessarily. If they implement better software, they could pull off having their whole gaming community changing their names at the same time, and still have more efficient data left to do other things. Time will tell

Change the name on your new account first to free up the name you want to use. Then change your old account to the name you want.
