To the city government of Pigeon Forge, I live not far from your little tourist town and have spent a fair sum of money there over the years with friends and family. That ENDS NOW if you, the mayor and the city don’t repay this family for not only the full cost of that home plus the huge market value increase we’ve seen the past few years but for their time and reno cost that YOU Mr. Mayor sat on your deck and watched happen. You can sit back all you want and claim you had “no moral obligation” to tell them of the eminent domain swooping down upon these good and fine people but We the People know better. You sir are a lowlife degenerate by your actions, or lack thereof in this regard. Time to repent and do the Right thing. And God decides morals Mr. Mayor, not you. And he’s watching. The city has the money so that’s not an issue. Right your wrong and pay these people what you knowingly took from them plus their time and effort. And pray you still have a JOB come election time. Once this story gets out, and it will, if you haven’t fully rectified this wrong-doing, the good people of Pigeon Forge will unanimously vote you out of office.

The closing Attorney failed miserably when they did a deed and title search. They should have know what was trying to take place and should have prevented the sale. The previous owners I bet knew and did not inform you of this.

I feel so sorry for you being in this situation. I know how you feel because I am going through the same thing in Kentucky. Judge executive, Magistrate and State Senator lied to me and kept a new road a secret until it was too late. Now it is dividing my farm. They have no conscience about it. Neighbors are going to put in a development and they want the taxes. This eminent domain law is not fair especially when it is used for financial reasons.

My family is dealing with this too. We bought commercial land for our business and they snuck in an easement after the contract was signed. The lawyer, judge, realtor and land owner are all in on it and so they took some of our land to put a road through which in turn hurt our business. My dad has been trying for seven years to get the case heard and they keep continuing the case in court. He goes again in April, we’ll see if it gets continued again. Such crooked, greedy people in this world.

Hey I can promise you Mr. Wear doesn't care one bit. He also built a house off Cole St. In Pigeon Forge and ran his driveway straight through my grandparents land without hesitation and never said a word to them. Literally directly up the middle of the land to build his house. My grandparents took him to court and since he is who he is the courts kept putting it off for over I'm guessing 15 years or more until my grandparents both passed away. Now my aunt has the property and there still fighting. So seen him first hand take away what someone else has owned. You guys will be in my prayers. Really hope everything works out for yall. Godspeed

How could the mayor look in the mirror and KNOW you are working so hard? That greatly speaks volumes. He KNOWS what is going to happen and STILL doesn't say anything to you? HE is as guilty as all of the those that lied, and turned a blind eye to your family. Shame on those wicked, greedy people. It's the love of money. They love money and have no integrity. It's not their family that is being swindled. May they reimburse you and give you more $$$$$$$ to help recover your cost and stress.

So, what I would ask the neighbour? Did she get a letter indicating the road change, does she have the letter, will she share it?? IF the letter was sent out BEFORE you bought that house, indicating the change of road, then you have a case to sue the former homeowner, and the realtor (maybe both if you had your own). You (being from out of state), having no prior knowledge of the inner machinations of the town, were prime targets to be defrauded of not only your money, but your time! Yes, they had the right of “imminent domain”, but if it was used fraudulently, with collusion, to enrich some people, then that’s another story. And I would pursue that to the end. This group needs to be criminally charged if that’s the case. Finding a district attorney,to take and pursue the case, is another story. Sadly. We’re praying for you in Central Kentucky!!

Sounds like a candidate for a law suit. If the previous owners, the realtor that sold it to you, and any others in the loop knew about this - and it would seem obvious that they did - you should at least be able to re-coup your losses, including everything you put into this place. It's called Full Disclosure. So sorry this happened to you, and I hope you have hired an attorney and in your suit, make sure to ask for attorney's fees to be included. It seems to me the sale should have been stopped before ever going on the market. At the very least, the neighbors, including the Mayor, should have told you about it before you started all that work.

Look into the cost of physically moving the house. It may be possible. I’ve seen giant Victorian homes moved several blocks. Then you can still have your home, albeit on a different piece of land, but you could be able to recoup all that you have put into it remodeling-wise.

If an agent is aware of something that could adversely affect a property, yes they are supposed to disclose. If the original plan was for it to go through the campground, they may not have had anything to disclose. At this point, hard to know what everyone knew.

The Previous Homeowner and Realtor are on the hook… you need to find out what they knew before you bought it. Sounds like they knew… and didn’t disclose which is against the law… the city should give you “fair market value” for your property… which is based on tax assessments it will definitely be less than what you paid, but something nonetheless. You need to file case against the realtor, previous homeowner and city…. things will come out in court on who did what… and if and money from the contractor was paid to the city as hush/blind approval for the project… real shady things going on…

They are all lowlifes and you should get at least two to three times your time and money invested on the imminent domain sale back to the city…which made money on everything you purchased locally for the reno. The way the sale of your home took place was fraudulent. When that FOR SALE sign went up, everyone in town knew what was going on. They were quite pleased, I bet, to get an unknowing out-of-towner's interest. The homeowner dropped it like a hot potato for the next guy to take the loss! I'd definitely be suing the home owner AND the realtor, and perhaps the mayor for admitted nonfeasance! Get an Ohio attorney. (I live in a community that was literally maimed by the government, when they demolished much of the town to widen the river for shipping. They moved many of the homes to new locations. Can this work for you?)

I think you may have answered your own question. Unfortunately your home will only hold a small family as opposed to the campground potentially having 100+ visitors every few days in a city that's continues to speak on how much of a need they have for keeping up with the number of visitors they see daily. Places like this especially that close to the main part of town doesn't want home owners they want facilities that can turn over high numbers of people daily. Obviously none of it is right but buying a home that close to a continued

To an area that's continuously growing and meant for visitors and constant overturning of people I would be so terrified that this would happen at any time unless I was gambling on the fact that this actually would happen and I would be bought out. However even being bought out is very misleading and any research will show that they will offer u ridiculous amounts of money and they technically only have to give you an offer so many times and if you still don't accept it they will take it from you and pay u the original amount they 1st offered to you.

Did you use a realtor to purchase the property? A realtor working for the buyer should have caught this property was under eminent domain, and they are subject to liability. If a realtor was not used, that’s hard lesson learned. But I’m sure you already know this by now. Sorry for your misfortune and hope you can find a solution.

It is always greatly disappointing when things don’t work out as planned, and I feel your pain in that. But any sort of investment always involves considerable risk. I have lost money in various investments that seemed a sure deal and made money in ones which were unlikely. The lesson is to always diversify your investments or you run the risk of losing it all.

Very sad. Sometimes.......tragedies are a blessing in disguise. NEVER let the things of this world bring you down. EVIL is all around us. We cannot control what others do. The only thing we can control is what WE do and put everything else in Gods Hands. There are endless Bible scriptures that remind us to not allow ourselves to be overcome with the things of this world. Example: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you - 1 Peter 5:7. Our Lord and Savior will ALWAYS PROVIDE FOR US AS HE SEES NECESSARY. Our REWARD is NOT the rewards we receive in THIS WORLD rather, the rewards we will receive in the next. YES it is hard but the ONLY thing that matters in THIS LIFE is OUR SALVATION. THAT IS ALL. Keep that in mind as difficult as it may be. As a Christian I know that God TRULY works in mysterious ways and sometimes, we just are not meant to have the things that we HOPE for. When I finally accepted this, I became a much happier person knowing that God has a PLAN for me and that HE IS PREPARING MY MANSION. That is all the satisfaction I need.

Perhaps it will open some other door in social media marketing. Look for some other door that God is opening as a result of this door closing.

Maybe you should do a little more research on Pigeon Forge. It's a tourist town. Pigeon only has a local residency of 6,000. There's not enough overnight rentals for people to visit - not people to live. A simple Google search will tell you this. Thanks for the comment
