I know the family who owns the campground. My ex father in law used to own your house, his brother who lives just across the field is the mayor's dad. My ex father in law used to own the land where the campground is. He was denied permission to put a campground there by the city because the current road supposedly wouldn't support the traffic. He was swindled out of his land as well. It doesn't surprise me.

The good Ole boys is a part of all levels of government, many cities and town in America are run under the good Ole boys connections. Well, they’re going to try to justify going through private property instead of a business by saying people will lose jobs, income. It will be interesting to see what government pays for the campground if they go that route. You can bet the Wears will make money on it. I live in East Tennessee and there is some growing sentiment among locals here and in other areas, that many are tired of “outsiders” moving in. The reasons are many: very high property prices that locals can’t afford, our beautiful rural areas are now subdivisions, property taxes have increased by 50% many places, traffic is a reality now, newcomers demanding govt services they had where they came from. I can keep going adding to the litany. While I’m sad about the loss of our way of life here, we live in the USA and people can live where they choose too. My biggest gripe is people fleeing the cesspool they helped create, yet coming here and clinging to same things that ruined home state. Wake up. I will say I’m much more open to people that work, pay taxes and try to be good neighbors than I am to the massive influx we’ve seen of homeless, panhandling druggies.

In 1944 my elderly widowed Grandmother’s 100 acre farm and home in Piedmont Missouri was taken by the government because it was across from and ABOVE the Black River. My seventeen year old Mother, was the youngest of ten and still at home. Mother clearly remembered the government agents telling my Grandmother “Go ahead and take us to court Mrs. Piles. You will get even less.”She and my mother moved to Detroit and my Grandmother was dependent on her children the rest of her life because that farm was also her only livelihood. I have the little school notebook that the names of items and purchasers was recorded in when she auctioned off her belongings. Another case of imminent domain occurred in NC when the state decided they wanted to create DuPont state forest. Someone had already purchased the property and even had began development . We met a lady at the park one day who had just rescued a child from the bottom of a falls. She said the owner already had stables built and she was hired to run them and the state declared imminent domain. Our government has been greedy and evil for years.

Whats really sad is the city could have given all parties involved a heads up from the get go and possibly avoided this whole ordeal. I'm sure if it was known that a road may come through that house they wouldn't have bought it and possibly found another place and not have this nightmare. But sadly the dollar rules everything and those good ole boys dont have moral values and intestinal fortitude so they just try to steam roll anyone in their way. Its a sad thing. And yes I'm a local and my family for generations before me are from here. my family was relocated from the Smoky Mountains when the park was created. Bless you for standing up for whats right!

My ancestors were the first to settle emerts cove (Pittman center). They were revolutionary war veterans and got land grants for their service on the PA line and at the battles of kings mountain (Emert and Shultz families). Best believe I know the how things work . Even with a family with roads and churches named after them it doesn’t mean that one day some shady business doesn’t happen . One of my ancestors was cheated out of a grist mill that he built (it is now a popular restaurant in the area). Best of luck to you guys and hope that it all works out ! Be careful when dealing with these people , they have already exposed their lack of morale compass and wanton greed. It is my opinion that those are the type of people who do not play within normal rules of law.

Look into things about how eminent domain started in the beginning but also the highways were first started for the military so check into that as well. If it’s military controlled still how can they infringe on citizens who aren’t supposed to be owned by the government

ok, so no matter what my feelings are on out of town investors driving up prices with these stupid airbnb rentals, using your position as mayor to help out family and friends is unethical. if the original plan was to go through the campground it should not be altered to benefit the mayor's family.

Eminent Domain is hard to fight and even harder to beat. My Brother owned a home where they wanted to put a road. His house sat close to the road, maybe 20 feet from the edge. The State only needed two feet of his house on an 1+ acre lot that also had a barn and a mother-in-law house. He was given an offer and refused and entered the negotiation stage. He knew there was no way he was going to win, so he just asked for everything under the sun. He was able to negotiate the cost of the house and received way more the original offer, he was able to negotiate moving and relocation expenses, and he was allowed to keep the land the state did not use which was most of his land. However like you he had renovated the house and for some reason the state would not allow him to remove things like the window, doors, toilets, cabinets etc. it all had to be destroyed. He later sold the land to a developer that built another home on the land. I wish you the best and God Bless you and your family.

There are probably hundreds of stories about eminent domain that you could get information about eminent domain for the Knoxville area because TVA has to be the king of eminent domain. It was easy for them to when they were building the dam systems on the Tennessee River because it was right after the depression and no one had money. All almost everyone had was their property that was owned for years frequently by previous generations. I have seen a few news articles and you tube videos about people currently embattled with TVA. And as a mature woman that remembers when Pigeon Forge was barely worth the dirt it sat on. Motel rooms were $12 to $14 a night. I am not surprised that the mayor’s name is the same as rather major community that abuts Pigeon Forge and I am sure there is a major road with the same name.

How can they legally take an existing established property over a thrown up camp ground with no houses? And it was already established to go thru the field first. My 2 cents worth

While eminent domain is sometimes for the greater good, the problem is people who are losing property are rarely made whole. IF a property is so vital to a project or a development that it needs to be taken from the owner, that person should be compensated, not the stand-alone value of the property, but the value of the property as part of the project or development.

Eminent domain isn’t what’s evil. It’s the people in control of it that are. And not all people in control of it are evil either. In your case I’m saying they are. Please don’t put everyone in charge of eminent domain in one category of people. Chance are, and it wouldn’t surprise me, if the people that are doing this to you go to church every Sunday like you. And I guarantee you they are not good people like you. I’m pulling for you. Stay strong.

Hope you still have attorney. I agree with comment, was this property condemned before you purchased? That alone is realtor, title company and owner, maybe even mortgage company as they would have to be informed. If you borrowed money to buy this property, the mortgage company has an interest and were defrauded too. The road plan, in most cases has to publish and hold multiple meetings up and until the final phase. Same goes for formal notice of condemnation. There is obvious conflict of interest, which alone is criminal. All this said, corruption in our nation is terrible, laws mean nothing, just paint it good and the sheep will fall in line. Feel sad for this trial for yall, but some lesson or better will come from it. Hope you will stand up and fight this evil plan against you! Prevailing will discourage others from similar activities. Look forward to good news soon

I have watched all your videos and I am appalled at the situation. For those saying that you are "outsiders" too because you called it an investment property, they need to listen again. You have stated that you have roots in Tennessee and just because someone buys something with the intent of it being an investment property doesn't mean they won't eventually move their themselves. It's not right what is going on. I don't know how someone could sleep at night knowing that they watched all the work and money you put into this and didn't say a word. It's shameful. I will be praying that this works out for you.
